Long-term target Joao Moutinho could be on his way to Anfield this summer, a report in Portugal has claimed.

Everton have been monitoring his situation since having a bid for the play-maker turned down last summer, but now Liverpool could steal in and offer the £18m Sporting Lisbon asked for.

Moutinho was desperate to leave Sporting last summer and was roundly booed by his own fans after saying as much in public when Everton were linked.

According to the Hounslow Chronicle, League 1 Brentford are interested in bringing Everton's reserve keeper John Ruddy to Griffin Park.

Ruddy, now 22, has been with the club since 2005. He has had no fewer than eight spells out on loan.
