New boy out as Heitinga progresses

Jan Mucha’s Slovakia have bowed out of the World Cup against Johnny Heitinga‘s Holland in the round of 16 in South Africa.

The new Everton keeper had looked for the most part of the game like he had kept his country in with a shout until he went walkabout in the 83rd minute.

Arjen Robben had put the Dutch ahead in the first half with a moment of real brilliance, and in the second half Mucha was called to make two world class saves  as the men in orange pressed forward.

As Slovakia enjoyed a period of pressure though, Holland were awarded a free kick on the halfway line which was chipped forward for Dirk Kuyt to chase.  Mucha saw a chance to cut the ball out on the edge of his box but made a feeble effort at it which allowed the Liverpool man to round him and set up Wesley Sneijder to score and put Mucha and Solvakia out of the competition.
