Beckford injury needs further assessment

David Moyes says that the injury Jermaine Beckford picked up at Deepdale yesterday needs further assessment before he will know if he will spend an extended time on the sidelines.

“He got a kick on the top of his foot when he went to shoot and I don’t think it is too bad, but we will have to assess it,” said the boss.

“I am pleased for Jermaine because when you are a centre forward, especially a new one at a club, you want to get goals.

“That is what he does best. We know he can score in the other divisions so he will get the opportunity to see if he can step up and do it in the Premier League.”
