No Gosling appeal?

Dan GoslingSky Sports News are claiming Everton have not taken up the option to appeal the decision that Dan Gosling can leave with no compensation payable.

The Blues failed to offer Gosling a written contract extension before the mid-May deadline this year, and as a result, the young Devonian was allowed to leave on a free.  A tribunal later ruled that Everton would have no right to compensation, but a right to appeal that decision itself.

Many believed Everton would follow that course of action, to force Newcastle to pay compensation should they be the club that wants to sign Gosling, but now it is suggested that has not been the case.

Everton’s failure to appeal, and their further absolute silence on the matter, can only suggest that they accept the mistake, and have moved on.  It would be nice to think, however, that the person responsible for the error would be made accountable inside the club at least.
