Distin relieved to be back

Sylvain Distin revealed his relief at making his comeback from injury against Wigan.

The French centre back had been missing for the Toffees since injuring his hamstring in the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham a month ago, but he returned at the heart of the Blues’ defence in the 1-1 draw a the DW stadium, and later told evertonTV that it was good to be back.

“I felt good. The end of the game was tough because I have not played much football lately. I had an injury and then came back and had another injury and that is the first time I have had two injuries in a season.

“So I was a long time out and it felt good to be back but it was very cold, there was a lot of running and I am 34 now!

“I thought we played quite well but a draw was probably fair,” he said afterwards. “We came back well and conditions were difficult and the pitch was poor. I know people expected us to win but the Premier League is tough and a point away from home is okay.”
