Moyes on Pienaar and Jelavic

Steven PienaarDavid Moyes believes Steven Pienaar and Nikica Jelavic are the right signings for Everton.

The Toffees boss secured the 29 year old and the 26 year old on transfer deadline day, and after a well earned rest following yesterday’s 1-0 win over Manchester City Moyes told evertonTV that both players would provide a huge boost to players and fans alike.

Of Pienaar Moyes stated: “It was just in the last few minutes that we got Steven to come back and that will be a massive boost – certainly to the players as they really enjoyed Steven here – they thought he was a great player.

“He had such a great partnership with Leighton Baines and I think we will all be looking forward to getting him back – if he can produce anything like the form he did last time then we will all be happy.

“I think the supporters certainly in their own way will be happy to have him back as well.”

“He has got a good record, he is a Croatian international and I am sure he will go to the European Championships in the summer,” he added about Jelavic. “So we always try and bring in the right player at the right value and hopefully we have got that in Nikica.

“We hope he will score us goals and offer us something we have not had for a while. We have wanted to get a centre forward in for the last couple of years. We don’t want to put too much pressure on him but we want him to come in and score goals and, if not score goals, then create and make goals.”

One Response to “Moyes on Pienaar and Jelavic”

  1. lets hope moyes does not drop starcqualursi and play jelavic, it will ruin any inspration that strac has, he has done well for everton and the fans love him as he’s a trier and god loves a trier, i hop moyes will play 4-4-2 with strac and jelavic leading the line, i also hope he will keep drenthe as he really troubles the defence when he has the ball, lets hope with jelavic strac drenthe and gibson that we have the making of a decent team, i would inculde pienaar and donavon but they are on loan, when we are in a position of not getting relegated i would like to see moyes bring in the new lads and sit neville and hibbert on the bench, neville looked terrible in last nights game i’m sure he needs glasses as most of his passes went to a city player
