Pienaar out to emulate Donovan
Steven Pienaar has vowed to perform even better in his second spell at the club.
The 29 year old re-joined Everton with minutes to spare in the January transfer window, and he told evertonTV that he would give his all for the Toffees’ cause once more.
He told evertonfc.com: “You could say there is pressure now. People will expect the same stuff. But maybe I can do even better than the last time. It’s not going to be easy, I have to fight for my place to get in the starting team first.
“Hopefully I’ll have the Donovan effect! You have to look at someone to inspire you and what Donovan has done in the last few games. He’s been playing really well and hopefully I can do the same.
“It feels great to be back. I just want to play football and got an opportunity to come back and play. I will definitely take it with both hands.
“I’ve been following the Club (Everton) quite closely. I’ve been speaking to the players a lot as well. They gave me a bit of banter when I came in, but I was expecting it. Everyone’s happy, I’m happy as well. It wasn’t a difficult decision to make.
“I’ve been speaking to the players a lot and when the manger gave me a call on Tuesday, it made things much easier. It’s important you don’t have to go somewhere where you still have to get used to the people.”
