Baines hoping to claim England starting role
Everton defender Leighton Baines wants to use his England game tonight to stake a claim for a place in the England starting line up at the Euros next month.
Baines is hoping that Ashley Cole playing in the Champions League final will give him the chance to start against Norway this evening.
“Ashley had the Champions League final…so hopefully I’ll feature in at least the first one (friendly),” Baines told evertontv.
“It’s just an opportunity to get a game and stake a claim.
“It`s about getting that good preparation out of the next couple of weeks, a couple of friendlies, some good training and whatever is necessary.
“After that we`ll be fully-focused, hopefully have a fully-fit squad and we`ll be well prepared going into the competition.”
