Blues linked with swoop for Wigan midfielder
December 18, 2012
Everton have been linked with a move for Wigan midfielder James McCarthy in the January transfer window.
The Republic of Ireland international was watched by Jimmy Lumsden last weekend according to The People newspaper, when he was in blistering form.
McCarthy signed for Wigan from Hamilton Academical in 2009 on a five year deal worth a reported £1.2m and is on big wages at The DW Stadium, but Everton boss David Moyes is believed to be keeping tabs on him as a replacement should Marouane Fellaini leave in the upcoming window.

Think he has put in some good performances and looks a good player. Would rather we kept Fellaini though!
