Manager Roberto Martinez insists that he is looking forward to a defining week in Everton’s 2015/16 season.
The Toffees face Merseyside rivals Liverpool on Wednesday evening in the Premier League as they look to arrest a six match winless run.
Martinez then takes his squad down to London to contest an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United three days later as the Blues look to end a 21 year wait for silverware.
Winning the FA Cup is seen as the only hope left in another disappointing campaign for everyone associated with the Goodison Park club.
But Martinez believes he and his group of players are looking forward to two tough fixtures in 72 hours.
He said: “We’re involved in two competitions and it’s mid April and that’s after a lot of work over 10 months.
“There are defining weeks for teams all the time in world football – Barcelona have just had one when they were knocked out of the Champions League.
“Of course this week is defining but we embrace it and look forward.
“It’s defining for this season of course. Every team has a defining week.
“Ours is mid April, others had it in February when they went out of the FA Cup.
“But we’re in the semi-final of the cup and you’ll see the best side of our fans and we’ll be Everton with an incredible togetherness at Wembley.”
