Rumours are hotting up that Everton will complete £21m signing of Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata this week after the former Chelsea man’s number 8 shirt was handed to Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Old Trafford.
Several sources have claimed that the fee could be as high as £30m but more reliable outlets are claiming it will be closer to £21m should the Spaniard join the Blues.
Ronald Koeman is setting out his stall as Everton manager and with the backing of Farhad Moshiri is ready to bolster Everton’s squad with big money signings.
Mata, 28, worked with Koeman at Valencia and is believed to be surplus to requirements once again by Jose Mourinho, who sold him to United in 2014 for just over £37m.
A versatile attacking midfielder, he is equally adept on the wing and would bring in real touch of class to supply the strikers and help younger players like Ross Barkley and Gerard Deulofeu develop into the players we all hope they can be.
