Everton lost against Dynamo Dresden and drew against Real Betis in games that came less than 17 hours apart but Koeman says that it was good to help players get minutes under their belts as they prepare for the start of the Premier League season.
“It’s still the pre-season,” said the assistant manager.
“We know in two weeks that the season starts and we know we have to be ready for that.
“There were some players playing for the first time, coming back from injury or those who have started later, so we had to change a lot of players.
“I think it’s very important that the players get minutes.
“For us it was good to play against two different systems, yesterday the Germans and today the Spanish, and you have to take the best out of that.
“The games were too close to each other and that’s why we had to change a lot of players, it’s not good for the game but it’s good for fitness.”
