Erwin Koeman has lauded the professional performances given by John Stones during Everton’s pre-season trip to Germany.
Stones has been the subject of much media speculation as he continues to be linked with a move to Manchester City.
Stones has expressed his desire to depart Goodison Park, but Everton are expected to hold out for a fee of £50m for their young star.
Talks between Everton and City have been ongoing over the past week, with the Toffees having already rejected the Citizen’s opening bid of £40m for the centre-half.
Despite his future remaining up in the air, however, the 22-year-old has weighed in with two typically accomplished performances during Everton’s mini-stay in Germany.
And his displays have not gone unnoticed by Everton’s staff, with assistant manager Koeman particularly pleased with Stones’ mentality.
He told the Liverpool Echo: “It’s very simple – he is a member of Everton.
“Top professionals don’t show anything – they do their job. They are professional and he is.
“He is very positive. Of course we know the rumours.
“John is very positive in training, he does his job so that’s great.”
