Daily Mail journalist Darren Lewis reckons Everton are in the running for a £40m bid for Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk.
The 25 year old Dutchman was signed for Southampton by Ronald Koeman from Celtic in the summer of 2015 and it seems now he could be on the move again.
Van Dijk has impressed since his move to the Premier League and looks likely to be the next player to leave the Saints for big money in January, with Everton being touted as one of the few clubs who could afford his services.
Lewis said, “Southampton are in real trouble with Van Dijk because there are some big clubs [in for him].
“Southampton were talking about a £40m price tag. Well, Everton can pay that, Manchester United could pay that if they want him.”
