" News has reached us of a potential take over taking shape, for more details listen to this weeks podcast "

Sounds like a " please listen to our podcast " plea to me.

I listened to it, it says property developer George Downing is rumoured to be trying to get a consortium together.

According to the ever reliable wikipedia he is worth £500million. He was also the guy who was chucked out of the posh box at the City Of Manchester Stadium last season for taking the piss out of Garry Cook and Co cos we were winning 2-0.

He is the sort of 'local-guy-made-good' I would love to see take-over but given it is season ticket renewal time I'm not holding my breath.

If it's too good to be true it usually is.

Like the sound of him. Though he may not quite have enough cash. Still, if he can figure out how to weave the club into his other business interests and gain some partners, he could make it work...if we were actually for sale, of course.

Even if this is the last we hear of him, God bless him for getting the boot from the Citeh box.

Good work Si,

Though I am awaiting the inevitable flat denial!!  It could just be a case of rich Evertonian - therefore going to take-ver the club.

Reality is though these people are rich for a reason, i.e. they don't make bad investments. Someone would have to take a massive hit - 200-300million before they could even think about selling the club on for a profit.

So I figured I'd try and get in touch with George, who is surprisingly easy to get hold of - well, his PR company are at least, and they were happy to talk to me

He hasn't spoken to them about it, but they will get hold of him at some point today and try and find out what the basis is for the story

When I told them they laughed and said it was news to them, said that "these stories come up every couple of years because George has investments in Liverpool and is obviously an Everton fan, but they usually have no substance"

Like I said, they're going to speak to him and find out what the story is, and then get back to me

Good work Si, I'm sure the stories are a load of shite but it's better to hear from the horses mouth, Well done  thumbs up

As takeover rumours are now almost as common as transfers rumours during January can’t we just treat them in the same way.
When we first hear of them we can say how great these billionaires will be, they are perfect for the club. Then when it all comes to nothing we can say, well we don’t really need them anyway, we are better off without them.  Watch them go to another club and fail. Never rated them and their cash in the first place.

Ped at the Followtonians did say that this was only a rumour and that it may not come to nothing. It's the fans right to speculate and am glad that people Si was on hand this morning to do some digging and investigate the rumour a bit more.

If the Everton board were a bit quicker to confirm or deny a lot of stories, then maybe they wouldn't be so disliked by the fans!

I wish there was truth in it. I wish some sentimental billionaire would buy Everton and just spend, spend, spend...
I know our stadium needs rebuilding or we have to move but we're still a great club and that should never be forgotten.
Come on you Blues...
