Please could we have a specialist forum for people who wish to have tedious back and forward arguments to save them from derailing half-decent threads with their pointless attempts at winning arguments on the internet?

Nothing wrong with heated debate, and nothing wrong with the odd good insult either (some of the best threads on here ever have been people getting ripped to pieces) - but over the past few weeks this place has been overrun with massively dull arguments and constant rubbish attacks on people just purely because someone else doesn't like them, or more likely sees them as an easy target for winning an internet insult-fest against.

I know it's summer and what have you, but the standard of posting on here recently has been fucking appalling so perhaps if we could have a forum set up especially for people who wish to liven up their days by arguing the toss about nothing then things might improve.

Beast wishes.

we've been monitoring this and discussions are ongoing between the moderators as to what to do about it

the most likely course of action will just be to ban people who ignore the warnings they are sent

we've been monitoring this and discussions are ongoing between the moderators over a pint whilst eyeing up the girls in popworld as to what to do about it.

fixed Wink

although i do agree with risky, but there aren't half some ridiculously narrow minded posters on here.

haha!

to be honest, Gash and the boys have been doing a great job while I've been away and have sent out numerous warnings.  if those warnings are being ignored then we'll just start banning people

Surely it's a reflection of another abject summer from Everton in the transfer market? I'm sure it'll mellow 'round these parts once the football starts.

The influx of thick cunts (to put it mildly) doesn't help of course.

We'll always have a bit of abuse on the forum and like Risky I can hand it out as well and take it, some people just ask for it as they don't think before they post.

Over the last few weeks it seems to have gone to higher level though, and even people have started to comment on it on the boards. If you want a dig, fine, but "fuck off" and calling people "cunt" isn't really constructive criticism.

You read on here all the time about people refering to other forums that they are full of nothing but abuse, I think that's what maybe sets us apart from the others, in general this forum isn't bad. There's a good range of posters on here, even the biffs, every forum needs biffs to stir up the debate. By all means have a laugh and a pisstake, and have a good arguement. But wehn it becomes the same people constantly doing it, it spoils it for the rest.

It also doesn't really encourage non members to join the forum if all they see is more "senior" posters constantly abusing and ridiculing people.

Crazy suggestion, fuck the cool/tool off. It's obviously a contributing factor.

I truly think that though, and not just because of my ridiculous rating.

A better idea would be a rating for each post (as I said from the outset). It then becomes about what is written in a post and not the internet persona of the person that wrote it.

I think that's a fair point to be honest. I think it's being looked at?

Have to agree with most of what has been said.

I can think of a few who seem to leave almost identical comments in most threads, which just means all of them turn in to one huge argument. It becomes a bit of a vicious circle, that never seems to get past tedious comments which lead to the same tedious arguments.

Well it's nice to see some reasoned response to my post, perhaps there is hope for us yet!

Gash made a really good point, and one that I hadn't even thought of when I had my rant, about what non-members must think and also about the whole thing with NSNO always having been that for the most part you didn't have people being abused constantly like some other forums do.  I've always liked this place because of the wide range of posters on here and the way that the majority of arguments are actually fairly constructive and rarely get personal.  But recently it really has been dire at times.

Yeah you can blame a shit summer for EFC, but that's a bit of a cop out to be honest.  It really isn't much of an excuse for some of the repetitive grief on here in my opinion.

Agree with cool / tool going too, and I don't think it should be replaced with something else either because it will still be open to abuse I'd imagine.

Anyway, hopefully things will start to settle down a bit soon!

Agree with Risky although the tit count is high on all forums this time of year some of the most seasoned posters are being right nobs (to be fair I might be including myself in that) so it needs sortin.
