Not sure if he was mentioned in the match thread but just wondering what peoples opinions of him are??.
Thought he was superb last night, i think hes our best centre half by a mile when he gets a run of games in that position, winds me up when he gets moved into centre mid, his reading of the game is great even though he lacks pace you hardly see him beaten for pace because hes already read the danger, his distribution is quite good too for a defender, imo it should be heitinga with distin for the balance when everyones fit

Heitinga and Jags for me. Distin still very error prone. Heitinga is a class player and many on here are clueless. The man plays for the 2nd best national team in the world. We lucky to have him. Excellent excellent player

I hate him in midfield, he has really impressed me at centre back lately! Reads the game exceptionally well.

Thought he was superb last night and has been getting better and better the more he plays there. For a defender his distribution is superb and he can ping a 50 yard pass to feet when he needs to.
I actually think he'd be a better captain than Jags, last night he was getting in Dzeko's face one minute, then he was slapping Felli and and giving him a gee up and having a laugh and praising him for a clearance.

Some of his performances last season were diabolical , he deserved every bit of criticism he got but lately he has really turned his form around and is looking like the player we know he can be . I just hope he continues in this vein

I also love the fact he stays on the pitch after the game to clap all the fans, or if someone shouts something to him he'll just give them a thumbs up, that's how it should be!

He played well last night and ive said all along it should be him and Jags at the back when everyones fit. He's a good defender when on top of his game and his distribution from out the back is what we need in the team. But i must admit, he does tend to make silly fouls by going for balls he cant get to, like going through the back of players to get a toe on the ball and cleaning out everything in his path. Cuts that out and he'll be spot on.

He was in defence for a few! I remember Blackpool the 5-3 one and he shit out of a tackle and they scored from it. He seems a lot more confident now. A lot more assured.

recalling back to his first season with us it seemed like he got better and better as the string of full 90 minute games went on, some players can step in and out of the starting XI and still be every bit as effective, Johhny seems to me the type whose performances dip from on/off playing.
Always very hard to judge the "errors"; as is often the case a defender gets pulled out of position due to a midfield mistake and ends up getting blamed because people only watch the 30 second goal clip on replay

Like the Heitinga we saw when he first arrived. It's hard to get the CB pairing balance right, individually players might be better but finding that Jags & Lescott magic combo is hard and I'm not even sure we have it at the club right now. Or maybe it's Heitinga and Hibbert

Always liked him, great centre half, not a full back n not a centre mid.
I love his passion and have always thought he was always misquoted by the press after 1 or 2 comments he shouldn't have made.
I think he's 100% commited to us and loves us, always the last man off the pitch, good choice for captain.
