Just my 2 cents....
Ferguson is a legend, my all time favorite player. I don't really care to explain it, you either get it or you don't.
Hibbert and Neville are in all honesty not the best players. However both have proved their love and passion for Everton football club.
Hibbert is terrible offensively but is a bloody great defender, despite not having good physical attributes. He never complains and always gives his best. He is a local boy and a constant reminder to young players and new ones coming in what is required to play for Everton.
Neville is average at right back, no doubt had had some great games, and pretty bad in midfield.
However I believe his leadership and organisational qualities are fantastic and outweigh his shortcomings on the field. He is a proper captain he leads by example, he welcomes all the new guys in (as is proved by his friendship with donovan, the two of them act like giddy schoolgirls on twitter) and keeps everyone in check. I would love for us to give him a coaching job at the end of the season and use him as a back up player for a couple more years.
It will be a sad day when either player leaves the club.
You were doin' fairly well.......until your penultimate paragraph. You have to appreciate that his performances on the field are what he draws an exorbitant wage for. nevile's simply not good enough.
I haven't a clue what welcoming new players to the club, or how he carries on on social networking sites has to do with his inability to perform to a satisfactory standard where it matters.
As for keeping everyone "in check" does this mean the fans too? Just who was he makin' dismissive gestures to, thrashin' his arms about at the bullens rd/ paddock, during the closing stages of the fulham game last week? And who the bleedin' hell does he think he is, by telling us that if we don't agree with the policies of certain elements at the club - then we're not
real[/b] fans? What sort of example is that?
As for his "love of the club" he couldn't even tell when it was founded - despite it being plastered on the club crest, which can be seen in every other photo, or piece of kit (Bar boots) that relate to the club.
I personally, would like to see him leave the club altogether. No coaching role - no nothing. I wouldn't be prepared to take the risk. Let him earn his badges and become a coach elsewhere. If he's any good at it (doubtful imo, given his playing & charismatic skills) then maybe, just maybe bring him in as youth team reserve coach and see how it goes from there.
