sorry if this is already a topic but i for one think darron Gibson has POTENTIAL! i think he hasn't done much wrong seeing he isn't match fit. i think moyes has brought him in to break up the play get stuck in and just spread it to the wings simples. people getting on his back already saying hes shite he might turn to be crap but give the lad a chance. i feel one thing that needs addressing with him is i for one noticed on Friday him and felli played too close to each other at times i think he needs to decide to either sit back and let felli go up or the other way round. but personally feel we have a very strong midfield with young Ross and jack to come back the future is bright for our young midfield.

He's been ok. Nothing spectacular, but then he's only a £500k player.

I expect him to be a squad player when Rodwell comes back to fitness.

I think he has potential; good passing range, good shot, big lad, looks a decent tackler.  That said, some of his passing was woeful on Tuesday but I am hoping he just needs a run of 10-15 games before we see a really good player.  I am not so sure the likes of Rodwell will walk back into the team when fit - I actually think Felli and Gibson already look like a slightly better midfield partnership than Felli and Jack

I'd agree with this.

I thought Tuesday was a difficult game for him offensively (goal aside!) but then it wasn't a team performance that was going to be filled with loads of flowing moves.

Some of his passing was poor, but some of it was also due to team mates not being used to him and vice versa.

Those things will iron out. Plus, if Cahill had scored from his pass over the top at the Villa he'd have had an excellent assist to go with his goal so far.

The last couple of games though, he has allowed Felli to dominate that area by always taking up sensible positions. That sort of awareness can make a big difference as we have often been exposed through the middle.

I wouldn't expect Rodwell to walk straight back in but long term I'd expect Felli-Rodders to be the partnership with Gibson the replacement should either not be available.

As Blarg says, he's not bad at all for £500k.

As stated above Fellaini has looked far more accomplished since Gibsons arrival, that could be coincidental or you could argue that the partnership shows real signs of flourishing. I think Rodwell will struggle to get back in the side or Moyes changes to to a 4 3 2 1 formation to accomodate him in the middle

For what we paid he represents very good value for money. I expect him to be here for a while as a squad player until we get taken over and can afford better quality midfielders.

He's doing pretty well for a player who's nowhere near match fit.

I've been shocked at people's reaction to him to be honest. He does play very similar to fellaini at times though. He's going to be big for us.

I like him and think he will be a great signing.  I think he and Fellaini look more comfortable than Fellaini and Rodwell.

Yes.  I actually think Gibson coming in might herald Rodwell moving in the summer and surprisingly, I am okay with that.

I really struggle to understand why some people say that.

Rodwell is nowhere near the finished article. Who knows how good/great he will become. I suspect he will become a much better player Gibson currently is/will turn out to be so to me to sell Rodwell because he CURRENTLY isnt as good as he could be is absolutely bonkers.

We as Evertonians covet better players at top clubs and i believe we have one (albeit not yet) on our hands in Rodwell. We should be doing all we can to keep him. Especially If we are to continue to be skint and unable to attract/buy the top class talent required to reinstate us at the top of the pile.

If we get taken over and don't need to sell him then keep him by all means.  However, I don't think we can wait indefinitely for him to become a wonder player and if in the summer he funded permanent deals for Pienaar and Drenthe and say another striker or creative mid I would be for it.  Especially with Barkley still in the wings.

He's got a lot of potential, just needs a run of full games, which he will get.

first off he's got a cracker of a shot. the goal was decent but the miss a few minutes later was quite impressive for me, catching a full volley while marked on a spinning ball left footed, and it was kept down and just a foot wide of the post. how many of our players could pull that bit of skill? most would have spun it or put it in row Z.

he can tackle

hes got good vision and attacking sense, can think of a couple examples where the pass looked bad but I think hes maybe used to playing with players whose movement off the ball is better and will anticipate and get onto some of the through and square balls hes played

there were times he looked out done against city but to be fair theres a reason theyre first in the league.

think once he gets games and his legs he will do quite well. a midfielder that can put in a 90 minute shift and bag 6 or 8 goals a season, which looks like he can is a good one to have

Possibly, because now we have three similar players in Fellaini, Rodwell and Gibson, or three players that do the same job and we haven't much creativity elsewhere to balance it. Remember, Pienaar, Donovan and Drenthe are only temporary solutions at present. Beyond summer, we do not know what's going to happen to them.

So selling in an area we have an abundance of the same thing to transfer it into an area where we have little of does make sense.

Rodwell should be given this opportunity to go out on loan for 6 months for regular football and almost as importantly to see if he can stay fit for that long. Possibly to a Championship side because of the nature of the game in that division.

It is the same thing with our CB situation, maybe individually you could say certain players are better but it is more important to find that complimentary balance. And I'd agree I think already there are signs that he is playing better alongside Fellaini then our other options have so far.
