He only caused the problems because he chased them all over the pitch and didn't give them a moments piece. That's fine and it's part of the job, but it was nothing to do with his silky skills or sublime touches, or intelligent runs.

Lets calm down, he had a decent game, although he was blowing bubbles after an hour, but he isn't the answer to our striking problems.

Gash is right

he had done very little before the fulham and city games

lets hope he keeps it up until the end of the season before he is even considered as a long term solution

i think for the situation everton are in financially, our striker has to be jelavic. Denis is doing great, but would anyone spend the kind of money on him that we have on jela? for me we need to get our bang for our buck so to speak.

Our squad is still 'very' thin on the ground, and we are desperate for experienced squad players who are capable of fighting for their places, as opposed to playing because somebody else is injured.

Too much emphasis is on our first eleven and the bench with many discussions, but the players who are there to make the numbers up are key to any teams success.

Firstly, it would be nice to have 25 players to offer the FA next season, but we will lose a few more squad players come June as contracts expire, and our senior players are ageing fast. Add to that, the fact we are bolstered by loans, who may not sign contracts, and we're still very short of players.

It's also important to get Moyes on a new deal as quickly as possible.

It's great that a few of us are feeling optimistic, but it is unrealistic to expect anything more than a long hard season until our circumstances change.

Those talking about top 5 or top 7 need to have a close look at the teams who currently hold those places, and appreciate the financial differences.

Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs are looking pretty good at the moment as usual, and I'm not sure we will be challenging those teams any time soon.

When you realise teams like Newcastle and Sunderland are on the up, and we haven't even talked about Aston Villa or Europa finalists and regular top 10 finishers Fulham, it's clear to see the dangers not having money poses.

Swansea are playing good stuff too, and QPR are very rich. Stoke are getting better every year, and the bottom 3 that go down this year is anybody's guess.

I'll be happy with a mid table finish every year until things change. It's not ideal as a fan, but it's better than playing in the Championship by a mile.

Howard

Heitinga
Jagielka
Hibbert
Baines

Fellaini
Osman
Barkley
Coleman
Pienaar

Stracqualursi

important subs: Rodwell, Drenthe, Anichebe, Jelavic

reason for my team drenthe is a liability but have him on the bench, dont agree with 2 def mids, donovan will not play for everton again after this month, dont know how good jelavic.

overall a good side but not top 6 in this league

We've actually got a reasonably solid defence , a very good choice of midfielders , even when Landon leaves with Ross Barkley being a year older and hopefully Pienaar staying and a forward line that's looking much better than the 1st half of the season , now Straqu has given us a bit of an option and Vic looking much better with of course the signing of Jelavic who could be anything . Next season with the bit of luck every successful team needs we could surprise a few teams .

There are a lot of "ifs" with us though.

If Pienaar stays.

If Jelavic is good.

If Barkley comes through.

If Victor continues to progress and stays fit.

If Rodwell progresses.

If Denis is actually ok etc etc

I'd agree that some of them are pretty likely (and obviously hope they all come to fruition) but we can't really get ahead of ourselves.

Especially as we have no money to make any guaranteed (as much as that is possible in football) improvements.

I agree .. but the biggest "if" is if we get that bit of luck we haven't had for a long time

BIG IF - if everyone stops being 'potential' and starts being 'crucial' and jealivic finds the net and we get one two in and start strong maybe we will get somewhere

Unless serious money is put into EFC you can forget about finishing anywhere above 8th. It's simply not going to happen. Hate to say it, but also expect Sunderland to get stronger as well next season. 8th will be like the new 4th! As good as it gets.

he is right and 8th may even be to high

youve got to remember

we have a decent first choice keeper and rubbish reserve keepers
an okay defence other than baines, the rest are nothing special
a decent midfield in the centre, not a alot on the flanks and certainly next to no pace
a poor striker force is somewhat unknown what jelovic will do

we have a few kids with potential coming through but sooner or later another moyes myth that he gives youngsters a chance will be exposed as he would rather play old dogs like dustbin, saha, cahill, neville, etc than blood the likes of duffy, vellios, gueye, barkley, etc in preperation for next season

we also have a manager who is boring and predictable, dont expect any thinking outside the box tactics or fresh approach, it will be more typical 'we will go with what weve got' which really means 'ill keep doing the only thing i know, containment'

so 8th could well be our best hope- which is an embarassment for a club with evertons history and following
