he's spending too long in his acting profession, and not concentrating on his keeping.

i did like him in this though -

Just watching that again , I really think Howard will be annoyed with himself for not saving that one , it was a terrible spinning ball but he really had time to get it and I think if you ask him he'll agree .

As far as bringing Neville on , Cahill must have been injured .. Moyes never makes half time changes unless it's that ... but yes , I can't understand why he uses Neville .. a strange choice of sub ..but maybe he thought we should still beat them even with Nev on and Felli pushed forward .I don't know

Just watched it back for the first time, howard was more to blame than neville

it didnt look that way from behind the goal but the video leaves only 1 conclusion, Howard messed up.

He is still far better than the 2 reserves we have.

Everybody knows that Howard is dodgy under crosses and that
is why they single him out at corners. Just off the top of my head, I recall
the Kuyt goal at Anfield as well as the recent Blackburn equaliser as being
pretty bad too. But yesterday he was Gary Sprake-like. There are no quick solutions though
as Joe Hart points out.

As for Neville's inclusion, it is just plain baffling. He is shit. I am a fan of DM but
not playing Drenthe, Gueye or anybody who has the talent to attack, or sticking the
new bloke alongside Denis, or any tactic that would increase the attacking options
against the bottom team beggars belief.

DM could have increased the momentum and belief after the City game by going for an
attacking formation and victory but its just not in his personality.

Haha! if you say so!

Funnily enough he caught a good 4/5 crosses today when under pressure, but again don't let the shit stop falling into your eyes to stop you forming a balanced opinion.

you forgot the no between under and pressure.

He caught 6 or 7 balls that every other keeper in the top 3 divisions would have caught. He punched 2 that every other keeper in the top 3 divisions would have caught. One nearly cost us a goal. He also did cost us a goal. As mentioned earlier the goal from about 2 yards out in the liverpool game highlighted his weakness and it's only got worse since then. Aren't we also the team that has one of the fewest attempts on goal against yet conceeded a fair few? So what exactly is it that makes you keep believing he is good?

I was quite a promising keeper in my youth, so I know a thing or two about goal keeping, and it was 1000000000% Howards fault, his body shape and positioning was all wrong.

It wasn't his fault. Let's face it, balloons have beaten better keepers. It was just one of those things.

Howard is one of the better goalkeepers in this league.

When you drop a clanger (no offence major) as a keeper it can result in a goal. Everyone knows this. I don't know why there is a call to decide whether he is shit or not when a keeper makes one mistake.

Does Howard make too many and do we think it is lack of concentration or lack of ability? That is more fair discussion.

And for my money, the only keepers I would have over Howard are Hart or Cech.

I'd definitely have Ruddy in over him too. In the goal.com ratings Howard is not in the top 20 gks. In fact he's 6th to last. He is ahead of Reina and cech however Tongue

Of course he was. How anyone can think otherwise is beyond me.

He's still a great keeper, one mistake doesn't nullify that, but because of this very fact he should've caught it easily.
