since rooney asked for a red card it seems all of a sudden its ok to run up to the ref and ask for the same

refs should only be approached by captains, anyone else should get a straight yellow card for trying to influence and/or waste the refs time

Pulis is right on the money. It's embarrassing to watch.

Pulis doesn't say anything about rushing up to the ref and asking for a red card though?  He's complaining about the playacting of the player who Huth challenged which is something different altogether.

Agree that both things are unacceptable, and I'd say that the part of the story that you imagined hasn't just started since the Rooney / Kompany incident and has been going on for far longer than that.

Actually Rooney never asked for a red card, or waved a imaginary one. He simply suggested that Kompany made a rash two footed tackle.

Has Rooney invented the asking for a card trick? Mobbing the referee has been going on for at least 10 years, if not longer and should in theory be a bookable offence. Shame it's never enforced.

If his team played football I might feel some sympathy for him.

your correct, however it had nothing to do with rooney

the ref can make his own mind up - rooney should have got a yellow card for trying to influence the ref.

same yesterday, 3 sunderland players immediatly approached the referee

the ref should have given each one of them a yellow card for trying to influence him - none of them appear to be the captain

until the fa stamp this out, it wont go away

it will take 2 weeks of pain (lots of cards) to get the message home. The reuslt will be a better standard of referring decisions, faster flow to the game and less controversy.

It's Martin Atkinson. He needs no encouragement whatsoever to give a red card.

If there was technology on the pitch we wouldn't have this problem.

Also, if they made it an automatic sending off offence if any player talks to the referee, it would solve a lot of problems.

Suarez in particular is the worst for it.

Totally agree.  The only way to stop it is by cautioning people for trying to influence a referees decision.  That goes for play-acting too.

I'm not just defedning Saurez because he's a Liverpool player, but I can't recall him doing this to be honest.

And as someone rightly pointed out, Rooney never suggested to the ref that he should be sent off, he mentioned the fact that it was a two footed tackle.  If you ask me though, that's still trying to influence the referee's decision and something needs to be done about it.

They should give the refs mics, even if you can't hear them on TV like you can with Rugby it would allow refs to prove that players tried to influence them/ if they've been sworn at.

This will only work if the referees have to explain to the crowd what the yellow/red card was for as well, like you see in NFL and NHL. This is why it will never happen in football because Referee's are never held accountable for their mistakes and if they announced their mistake they would have to be.

Asking for cards is embarrassing, but so is the thuggery that Pulis' Stoke team get away with.

They absolutely mug players every game, I've never understood how every time we play them they are literally bear hugging Fellaini and nothing is ever done about it.

Oh and Shawcross is a disgusting ugly cunt.

Fuck you Tony Pulis, and take off that hat you look like a twat.
