Allardyce disappointed with defending

Everton boss Sam Allardyce says that he is disappointed in the way his side defended at Bournemouth despite setting up with a back four and three defensive midfielders in front of them.

Sometimes, setting up with a bunch of defensive-minded players backfires because you can't pass or hold onto the ball at all. It happened in a lot of Koeman matches this season and it looked like it happened again today.

So maybe get some players with actual quality on the ball, eh?

If we had defended competently today then we'd have won. It wouldn't have been pretty, and it would have been very lucky, but we would have won.

Disappointed with his comments.  You can say that we "gifted them the goals" but let's be honest, we were outplayed by... Bournemouth and can have no complaints in he result.

slagging off your only striking options might not be a great idea if you can't rely on your defenders, Sam

The deck is stacked heavily against SA with this squad, the clearout we so badly needed hasnt even started.Players here on top dollar happy to pick up fat cheques and not even get on the bench,32 pro,s in and around first team and just how many of them are worthy of a weekly start.Weve accumulated an extremely average amount of ability and it says an awful lot about the new recruitment when they cant get a kick.Numerous people culpable  but only a painstaking recruitment of quality in all areas will see this club achieve its ambitions.

Attack is the best form of decence - is pretty accurate to an extent

Let’s be honest the defending hasn’t been much different than it was all season we’ve just been luckier since he came in.

Nah. That's rubbish.

He's improved the defence immensely.

We conceded four goals to Southampton before he came in.

To be fair we could of conceded a few more today too. The improvement has been marginal

It really hasn't. We would regularly concede three or more goals before he came in.

Let's be fair now. The improvement in defence has been massive

i think in structure of the team so maybe they have less defending to do but they still making 3-4 mistakes a game. Jags and Keane were abysmal today and kenny went AWOL for both goals.

Teams have continued to walk through us with ease and not just good teams.

The only difference is they’ve either been less clinical than before or hit the woodwork or Pickfords come to the rescue unlike when we were on a poor run.

The main difference is in our approach we’ve tried to stifle teams more and practically abandoned and attacking play.
