He says that he can't cope with the scrutiny in England anymore. Don't be a massive attention seeking cunt then

Don't blame him for getting the cash and clearly he'll not get much stick (or understand it from the crowd at least) so you can see it'd be attractive destination.

It's troubling though to some degree, as clearly we don't have a great pool of referees as is without a few of them going out of the country. It might I suppose accelerate video reviews if the standard gets much lower.

As the saying goes, his departure will improve refereeing standards in both countries.

I reckon he's doing a runner for some as yet undisclosed reason.

At least in SA he won't have to use as much fake tanning lotion....

He must be going with a real heavy heart and a deep sense of unfullfillment from within having only ever won one Merseyside derby for the shite.
There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and the Dutch.

I'd have thought the main reason would be for some undisclosed figure, ref's don't actually get paid as much as many assume. He probably wanted the FA to show their appreciation and desire to keep him, in the form of money and they had no interest in matching the offer on the table.

Clattenburg always seemed a bit charly big potatoes and above the law, could well imagine him being tired of being questioned or assessed, but doubt that was more than a gripe until money was on offer.
