Title: ECHO Article of other club writers predictions
Post by: American Evertonian on August 12, 2017, 03:20:57 AM
Good article in the ECHO about what other club supporters predict for the season.

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-201718-season-premier-league-13461474#ICID=ios_EchoNewsApp_AppShare_Click_Other

The take home points from me

1) We are a relatively liked club. Maybe it is because we haven't threatened too much in recent years or maybe it is the way in which our players handle themselves on the pitch (minus Mori's tackle in the last derby)

2) A lot of people do not rate Ross Barkley and think it is a poor decision for him to try to move away from our club

3) People from other clubs seem to be more optimistic about our season than people on this forum

The majority think we will finish seventh? That's pretty much the average forum opinion

A good deal do. But reading further plenty think we have the squad to crack top 6 with an addition of a striker. It's encouraging though to have them all view us as a club on the up

Isn't it funny how many people think Ross Barkley is overrated.

Kinda to the point where he has to be underrated.

There can be NO moderate opinions of Ross Barkley!

"Ramiro Funes Mori for that hideous tackle on Divock Origi in the Derby in 2015-16 at Anfield. It was pure malicious intent and he then went off pounding the Everton badge to celebrate what he'd done. It ended Origi's season and in truth, we've not seen the Belgian recapture that scintillating form since."

Ended his season, well the four weeks that remained.

Over dramatic bellend.

Origi and scintillating in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

That said, I'm in favour of anything that results in less chirping re "friendly Derby."  BARF

I think were Funes Mori is concerned, he got the Karma payback, big time. Not that I'm happy with him being injured. I don't like that sort of nasty stuff at Everton though. If an opponent gets injured in a heavy duty fair tackle, ok. But to gloat about it, isn't really everton, is it.

That is maybe what surprised me most. Turned out he isn't treated that highly from nonpartisans.

Makes him look worse and worse with all of this. I worked say I feel bad for him but I don't. Should never have tried to leave when we look better and better. Makes me bitter sadly

That's partly because the public tends to follow the leaders.  No on dares to predict above 4th then he would me smashed to pieces in here.  (on this forum)

Hard to put a number on it with what little we've seen but a lot riding on what level Rooney can perform at, also Morgan will be important to get a lengthy run with him staying fit, can Sandro fulfill promise, hope we will still land a proven goal scorer though,so that said if all goes well with these and other issues {sigg being as good as Koeman thinks} we could be challenging top 4, if not then a fair bit lower. Moshri has elevated us a lot in regards of how other clubs see us which is lovely..

A very good read that. Thanks for posting.

The take home point for me was all the comments that we need a striker (which we all know).

And the Southampton fan saying Cuco Martina was not good enough to play for a Championship club  :o

Someone over here who listens to the "Men in Blazers" podcast said they both picked Everton 4th.
