As much as I dislike him personally... for a short-term, please-get-us-out-of-trouble appointment, Allardyce makes the most sense. An improvement in defensive organization and a commitment to scoring more from set plays (we have Sigurdsson, after all) should see us into comfortable mid-table territory. Plus, our scouting/recruitment team already has some of his preferred staff -- Steve Walsh, Martyn Glover -- so we should be able to hit the ground running when the January window opens.
I don't like it but this is where we are. Mediocrity is our ceiling until we clear out some of the deadwood hanging around the club and make an investment in the best backroom staff we can tempt here, starting with the director of football. Things won't get significantly better until Moshiri commits to having us behave more like Atletico/Sevilla/Monaco/Dortmund behind the scenes.
