You can't leave one of our wingers out of the match day squad completely for the sake of Around Kone as a 3rd striker.  We've seen the last two years he simply cannot play on the wing.

I'm not saying have him on the bench every game, i'm just saying he's an option on there for certain types of games depending on the formation we use

Oh, for fuck's sake.

Does it matter that much? If he goes, fine, if he stays, fine. If we'll have better strikers, he won't be on the bench, if we won't, he will.

Or is trust in Koeman already so low that we want to get rid of Kone lest he accidentally forces a better striker out of the squad?

That will do for me, well said

Very good cup result, it doesn't matter that it was League Two opposition, you still have to win those games and take your chances.

Nice to see Kone score a couple of goals, I almost forgot that he was a striker after seeing him so much on the left sided midfielder for most of last season. I'd be fine with him as our 3rd choice striker - once hopefully we bring in another good quality striker (perhaps that Deportivo fella).

Or maybe that guy from Napoli, rumours we are sniffing around

Hope he doesn't score a hat trick again any time soon, last time he done that his contact automatically extended by 1 year.

That's some excellent play by his agent tho, score just 1 hat trick and your guaranteed another 2,000,000 over the next 12 months, nearly as good as Niasses agent.

Thought Kone looked fitter tonight than he has done in 3 years. Let's give these boys till January under a proper manager with a proper fitness coach and I'm positive every single one of them will have more to offer than what they showed last season.
We'll still need some quality additions though like but fitness and confidence can make a world of difference.

I did not see the game but I followed the results.  When i saw on my phone that Kone had scored two goals I was sure what the topic would be in here.  About Kone.  I was right.

take care all,

Ari

That's two goals in two games now where we've scored nice goals with quick, first time lay offs with a man running beyond the ball.

Encouraging.

wow

please please please

name me just 3 good Kone performances from last season

the guy has been a disaster ever since we paid over the odds for him from Wigan

Sunderland 6 2. Watford 2 all. Southampton 3 nil. My memory is shit but didn't he pretty much star in them all? Weren't they all last season?

I love the way Koeman clearly thought we still played pretty shit overall as well.
Jeff: That's not the way to win.
Kathie: Is there a way to win?
Jeff: There's a way to lose more slowly.
