I do... it's called OCD.

I guess when I worked for someone, I did too :)

Phil Kirkbride in the Echo is saying we wanted Lookman to go to Derby.

Potentially a gulf in a difference of opinion between how good our management think Lookman is & how good Lookman/his agent/Leipzig think he is.

Leipzig wanted to buy him so they probably rate him quite highly.

Think it's a bit much to expect him to drop down a division when a club like RB comes calling. They're built around developing young players and are a very attractive proposition for a player like lookman.

I dont really see what he has to gain going to Derby

Agree 100%. There are players that need to 'toughen up' that would do good going to the championship. But i'd only be sending defensively minded players in that direction. Lookman needs to learn how to win games as a team & individually. Much better chance of that at Leipzig.

Also, What a turnaround for Niasse by the way.
From not having a locker to having actual money offered for him and turned down!

Let's face it. If you were a 20-year-old budding prodigy, would you rather go to Derby, (if that was the destination?) or try out a new continental team, and especially if you're not getting much game time? I know what I would do as a 20-year-old. Sam Allardyce is underestimating the lad's intelligence. I seem to remember the kid wants to be a Barrister when he hangs his boots up. Eat some more gravy Sam and watch him return as one of the Motherlands favourite sons.  :)

Loans are about playing.

Granted if he’s not playing at Leipzig he’ll be in better company than if he didn’t play at Derby (or even here :) ).

But if he doesn’t play there and he would have played 20ish high pressure games going for promotion at Derby then it’s a poor choice from our point of view.

Another question might be:

Is it better to play half an hour 15 times against top flight opposition or to play 90 minutes 15 times against worse defences?

Pros and cons to each, obviously.

The top of the championship isn't exactly Sunday league defending.

I said worse defences, not bad ones.

Maybe Lookman and his agent consider how successful our loan deals for young players have been in the past and decided they’d rather trust their own judgement than the clubs.

Not had much success matching young players with the right clubs recently so who could blame them.

It's a good move for him if he gets 20-30 minutes every week. There's doubt he'll get anything like that though

I just think we massively fucked up this part of his development. After 6 months last season at this level, where it was quickly evident he was out of his depth, he should have been despatched off to someone like Derby for the full season like Dowell has done.
