There have been a few stories throughout December and January linking him with Spurs which all suggested he was waiting until the end of the season before deciding on the contract.

I'm hoping it's just a case of two and two, but with whispers from ITKs on other boards and the fact he only signed a 4 year contract rather than 5 last year, I'm fairly concerned personally.

I heard about a month or two ago that he wanted to stay at Everton, but he was frustrated with how he was playing and the comments in the media were getting to his head a bit.

Since then it's been sweetness and light so hopefully it's turned it around for him a bit.

I realise I'm contributing here but it's astonishing that Jamie Redknapp giving an opinion on wether a player will transfer clubs or not can reach 4 pages.

Jamie fucking Redknapp, the transfer guru and all round insider.

I won't worry about him leaving until Paul Merson predicts he won't. :eh:

I think the only way he'll leave is if we want to sell him, we don't need the money so it would take a bonkers offer to even tempt us. I don't see him wanting to leave, the lad's living the dream. He's playing for his boyhood club, he loves the song about him, he's hitting good form, loving his football at the moment by all accounts and on top of all that he's getting paid a fortune to do it.

In a nice way for us he doesn't appear very ambitious, as in going to another club to win things. I've always got the impression he's doing what he's always wanted to and anything more is a bonus, if he's going to win things he wants to do it with us. Koeman's handled him brilliantly despite plenty reservations about what he was doing calling him out and even Barkley questioned it but his game has got better and better all season. One thing on Sunday summed his overall improvement, he chased a nothing ball down to the byline, put the Spurs defender under pressure with the ball and ended up winning us a corner from nothing. Adding workrate to his game has made him far more complete and for me and was one of the things I always wanted him to add to his game.

I'm not at all worried about him moving, he's getting better all the time under Koeman and the way he's playing now there's not a chance we aren't going to offer him a another contract and when we do, I don't think it'll be "99.999999% done" for 4 months, it'll be agreed pretty swiftly.
Definitely agree that he's been handled brilliantly by Koeman.

I think he might be more ambitious than we think though. I would agreed with you until that piece with Redknapp, but he made a few comments in that which got me a little worried about his ambitions. Hopefully he and Rom both can fulfill them here. 👍

Jamie Redknapp looks set to become the new Sun gossip reporter.
That's a step up for Redknapp then.

Koeman said 'talks are planned' but haven't started yet.

With players like this, local lad with a passion for the club, it is imperative that the fans love him.

Media, pundits and former players are trying to turn his head. I read so much about how the fans turn against him, how hard it is for him beeing an evertonian, and lately I have even seen interviews of him acknowledging these things.

I think it is massively important to show him our love. Most players do not have a strong emotional relationship to their club, but Barkley does. It would be fantastic if all the fans just sang for Barkley through the whole next homegame making it hard for him to leave and hard for pundits to still try and turn his head. I start to fear that Tottenham is trying something here now.

The thing is, if he leaves, it will be the fucktards that get on his back during the match which will moan and slag him off the most.

It's pathetic.

No one else getting a tiny bit concerned about this?

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/koeman-barkley-talks-everton-contract-12718133

Doesn't sound too promising at all, sure Koeman sat down with him in Dubai and Ross is unlikely to have the self confidence to say anything to Koeman that might upset him, Young Ross in a one to one with a legend ? Koeman is smart and seems to be suggesting that he got the message from Ross that he was cool about signing but his mum and agent are of a different mind, let's see.

Yeah, although Redknapp is a bad tit, the combination of him coming out of that interview saying 'Barkley should leave', Koeman's rather vague comments and the fact that clubs don't normally let a big player get to within almost a year of his contract expiring has me very worried. Even if Redknapp is speaking out of turn, you do wonder if Barkley has intimated something about possibly leaving.

I'd really struggle to accept losing Barkley tbh, much more so than Rooney.

Whole thing just sounds like posturing from Ross' 'side', tbh.  A few hints in an interview that maybe it isn't certain that he sees his future at Everton lead to a few extra k per week in the negotiations than if he comes out and says 'I only want to play for Everton'.

Or, he could just be waiting for Rom to sign so that he's got a new ballpark figure for his negotiations rather than potentially underselling himself by accepting a lower offer than he could have got.
Cordiali saluti, motherfuckers.
