Moshiri has finally answered his phone to Jim White here hasn't he?

As much as i wanted Allardyce to go, i still hope we do it with a bit of decorum and he finds out face to face first, without the media telling him.
It's why i didn't want it right after the match on Sunday.

We've generally been thought of as a classily-run club in the past - let's keep it that way hey?

Let me say that if Silva really is our 1st choice, and if it's the difference between him hitting the ground running or not - give the Moose-Hornet cunts their 750K quid (what they owe in compensation) so they shut up already.

There’s nothing to stop us appointing him.

I’d guess we’d like to sort it out “amicably” but we’ll just appoint him and they can moan/ report us or whatever.

Chances are he will drop his claim for £750k in return for them not reporting us.

Gaining new employment within the time period of his old contract would negate most of that claim anyway.

Can't claim loss of earnings if you are actually earning.

There's not much to wrangle over, he wasn't on big money and it's not like they got relegated and lost out on millions. The compensation we'd be due, if any, wouldn't be massive.

I think it's a matter of Moshiri having his meeting, telling Allardyce face to face out of basic respect to him, and you'd hope Brands/Silva (assuming that's what it will be) would be announced by the end of the week at the latest.

Swerve Talksport, lids. It's like an Allardyce love in on there. Trotting out the usual 'they should be grateful', 'who do they think they are?', 'he's kept them up' narratives. A moronic level of punditry.

Jim White sounds like he is going to cry on Talksport - good you completely useless excuse for a sports reporter.

Yes Sam got us to 8th in the league but that is more to do with how poor the rest of the league outside the top 6 is. We don't want to standstill and be bracketed with West Ham etc... We are Everton Football Club and demand and deserve more.

Grateful? The prick was paid to do the best job he could, he’s the one that should be grateful to be employed by Everton football club, the biggest job he’s ever had and he will never have the chance to manage a big club again.

We don't have anyone putting the counter argument unfortunately because we don't do a great job managing narratives in the media, and we don't have a large ex-player presence. Some of that it down to other people, but mostly it's down to our poor handling of communications.

That's an area of the club that needs a big revamp.

When there’s breaking news on Everton Jim Whites show on Talksport is the closest thing you’ll get to up to date on the money information.

He’s a sensationalist twat and so are the cronies he shares the show with but he’s got an inside line to Moshiri and the information comes straight from the horses mouth.

Given he’s just said there’s a board meeting this afternoon I’d not be surprised if it’s confirmed early evening time now.

I've got to agree with this. It really is so important that we maintain some sort of honourable position on this. It is Everton, and we're nothing special if we all get rabid, smug and generally nasty. The guy is human. He did his job. We move on if reports are accurate. Come on down Marco lad. I hope we have interviewed a number of candidates and gone through a proper recruitment process. We didn't do it with Koeman, we didn't with Walsh, we didn't with Allardyce so you'd hope we start to act like a professionally run outfit soon, judging by the failure of the last three appointments made without the proper governance.

Because we're not regarded as a big club by the top available managers we will have to gamble either way. Silva knows the prem so that's a plus and he's got decent reviews in certain areas. Fonseca is currently in a weaker foreign league, no prem experience but gets good reviews too. Tough call but he ain't banging our door down and if he's being interviewed by West Ham then he doesn't fancy us over them. Silva went to pieces when he couldn't join us (allegedly) so looks like he wants to manage us.. I'm more in his camp than Fonseca's based on my pure speculation.

Beep beep attention this horse is reversing

How ironic that a guy who constantly accuses everyone of posting "fake news" would post a link to the Express. They'll be telling us tomorrow that we're going to have the ten inches of snow in June then next week the hottest June since records began. :)

What the fuck are you on about ? “CONSTANTLY ACCUSING EVERYONE OF POSTING FAKE NEWS” ??
I said that the report of Everton fans fighting amongst themselves at West Ham as reported in the Echo was incorrect, yes FAKE to use a currently popular term, it was incorrect as I was there and saw exactly what happened, ironoic my arse, please don’t lurk in the wings waiting to have a go at me as has been your habit.

I can't wait for the headline tomorrow SAM ALLARDYCE HAS LEFT EVERTON!👍🏼🍾😂👏🏼🍻. Silva doesn't give a warm fluffy feeling inside though. I don't know who would either. Don't know a great deal about the others mentioned. We've done the 'knows the premier league' thing, look how well that's turned out. Maybe we should go for the untried manager, they may have a different way at looking at it. Might work out well. Positive thoughts only allowed.

Easiest decision was getting rid of Allardyce.

Now comes the tough decisions ahead of us. Certainly can't afford to get any more wrong.

As for Talksport, it's a windup station.
I reckon they have to create divides deliberately on sporting matters just to generate people ringing in and gauging opinions.

Then we were linked with, and appointed, the fat cunt. Suddenly Silva looked like Pep.
Now we are being linked with Silva and I don't care, anybody will do. As long as we get rid of that fucker and his wee red chipmunk friend. They should never, ever have got into the club.

Just in time for Jim White to have a massive mourning session on his show.

So glad this dark chapter in our glorious history is over! Hopefully, Brands will be announced soon, followed by a new manager.

Don't mind if it is Silva but Watford can F Off. Some are posting on other threads that Silva is on gardening leave, so we could wait for that period to be over. However, there are a couple of very good managers in Fonseca and Emery who are out of contract/a job, who would be just as good if not better, so we should all be positive about these changes as they surely have to be better than what we had to endure last season.

As Sam himself said, he took advice from Alistair Campbell about media relations and he has cultivated many friends for this exact reason. He's created a narrative that he's always hard done by, he takes credit where it's not due and he never answers a question he doesn't want to answer. Therefore public perception of him is skewed and the sycophants in the media who want his next interview or a free night out with him buy it.
He knows he'll continue to keep getting 18 months panic pay for 6 months work and he can then ride the gravy train in the media when it dries up, no pun intended. As much as I don't like him he's stitched the football world up like a kipper, it's the gift that keeps on giving.

It's not that we're necessarily arsed, it's the perception of the club that is damaged. Mind you we knew that before appointing him, he'll now go to town on us and the reputation we should be trying to create of a dynamic club with money and a vision will be skewed by him and his mates into a mess of a club with no strategy. Not entirely untrue mind but someone somewhere in the club needs to get a grip on our PR.

The only thing that matters is success. No-one's opinion in the media makes any difference whatsoever to the club's performance on the pitch. The fans could see straight through Allardyce from when the first rumours came out that he might become the man in charge.

Most of us gave him a chance, but deep-down, we all knew what would happen, and so did Fat Sam.

Played terrible football, got results however necessary, stayed up, Fat Sam got sacked with a big payoff.

All in all, a pretty awful period in our long history, but I am glad it is now over.

It does though. How we're seen by the wider public affects who we can sign and for how much, it also probably influences referees.

Moyes made a lot of mistakes but the one thing he did get right is to create this image of us as the club that does things the right way, that signs players who fit into a great and friendly dressing room. Since we haven't got more money than our rivals, when we compete for signings, stuff like this could really make a difference.

How is the perception of the club damaged? Lack of success damages the club's reputation and we've had plenty of that now. That's why a lot of pundits now speak about us in the same breath as West Ham, Leicester and Southampton. No amount of PR will change the media's perception of the club a great amount. Appointing a forward thinking manager, challenging the top six and for trophies are the only things that will change the perception of the club.

That's not strictly true. Of course we'll only become relevant to Sky etc... if and when we challenge the media darlings and their cosy club but Spurs have done it and they did it by appointing a young, dynamic manager and creating a young dynamic team over a few years.
We scored a spectacular own goal by appointing a dinosaur who for some reason is lauded in the media and now we're even attracting criticism from cricketers on top of every football pundit and his dog telling us to be careful what we wish for.

His appointment was a disaster at every level. Now we have to repair our perception to attract interest, players, media coverage and sponsorship.

I, for one, actually don't care about entertainment more than 3 points.
All i want from any match is 3 points. Nothing more, nothing less.

My problem with Allardyce was that there wasn't anything (nor had there ever been anything in his career) that suggested he was capable of taking 3 points regularly off the top 6 teams.
Which meant we could never break into that cabal on a regular basis.

It was the same reason my attitude changed towards Moyes at the end. He had taken us as far as we could go.
The problem with stagnation and "settling" for 7th or 8th is that every season you roll the dice and run the risk of having a shit season. That happens a couple of times on the trot and really bad things can happen - like at Villa, or Forrest.

I've literally just said the only way to change perceptions is to appoint a forward thinking manager and challenge in the top six and for trophies consistently and you've said thats not true, but then agreed by saying that's exactly what Spurs have done?

Yeah I've turned on and a Man City fan was basically telling us we were entitled arseholes. He also used the phrase 'these clubs' about us and West Ham.

It's an extra level of ignominy we have to suffer. Not only have we watched mostly dross for the last couple of decades, but we're tragically misunderstood by other people. It's fucking infuriating. The laptop very nearly went through the back window.

Once I knew that Allardyce was gone and heard a few of the callers, I turned off the radio and went outside and cleared a load of weeds and crap from my garden and thought this is what the club I love has done and to hell with all those who think they know better.

They definitely, would not want him as their manager and although to the uninformed it looks harsh, we won't get where we want to be without making changes. The club has started the summer off well and now we need a good managerial appointment and Marcel Brands to be announced damn quick.

The future looks a hell of a lot brighter today than it did on Monday. These so-called experts and fans of other clubs will soon have something else to moan about.

I say 3 points are all that's important. But that's when faced with the "entertainment" argument.

But, fuck me, i walk out of the old girl feeling 10 foot tall when we've been tenacious, passionate and each player has stood their ground, been counted and fought for the other players.

The thing is, the change had to come sooner or later. We could've kept him for next season, played the same low-risk low-reward stuff and finished somewhere between 8th to 10th place. But then what? Keep him on again, increase the age of the squad and set ourselves back another couple of years?

It's easy to look back now and say we could've appointed anyone to keep us up. I think Allardyce has done a solid, if unspectacular, job but he shored us up when we needed it most and took us to higher than we probably deserved.

If results and performances had shown signs of a brighter future, I'd have had no problem keeping him on. And while the results were ok, the performances were absolute bilge, week in week out.

Other clubs won't like it because there's a chance we'll be competing on a higher level to them. Pundits won't like it because Allardyce is their friend. I'd really like us to maintain/recapture our image of a well-run club, but if the media/public had their way, we'd be the unambitious little whipping boys who dare to aspire to the top half every year or 2.

There is a fuckton of risk in hollowing out/aging the roster even one more season.  Two would be tantamount to suicide, unless the next manager was a magician.  Quite easy for rot to set in and not catch it until it's too late.

Even the ones in the media who aren't buddy-buddy with Allardyce get lots of clicks from his articles, because he pisses people off so much.  And clicks rule the modern media world.  As usual, follow the money.

You said the only way the perception of our club has been damaged is by not challenging the top 6. I would argue that by employing a football dinosaur and playing god awful football, whilst now being seen as ungrateful by most of his mates in the media for binning him instead of thanking him for getting us to 8th, might not be overly positive in terms of our public perception either. Challenging the top 6 is going to be hard as it is but we don't need to regress about a century in our play whilst trying to close the gap.

I'd much rather we try and steer clear of West Ham-type levels of drama and I agree we need to try and mould ourselves into a more dynamic club attractive to young talent from here on in. It'll also help our commercial attractiveness no end as well.

It'd be interesting to know the grounds on which they took the decision. Was it the protests? The survey? Did the board tire of the uninspiring football? Player unrest? Or was it always the plan anyway that we'd get in Sam to see us through to the end of the season regardless and then turn to Silva or someone else?

Good start to the summer but the ruthlessness must continue. We don't want top ten finishes, we want to challenge. Let's sign players with those ambitions and let's get a manager in to get the best out of them.

I don't think they'd any intention of giving him the 18 months unless he really did change his approach and had us flying.

Sam Allardyce in for 18 months isn't the foundation for building the squad for the future. On that basis you would hope that whoever we are getting in, we've had plenty time to prepare and now it's just dotting the i's and crossing the t's.

He's got Koeman to thank for most of that to be fair.

Undeniably, but my point was that 8th position is a highly misleading stat. In any other season we would've comfortably been bottom half with that total.

Exactly. It was a six months hold-your-nose situation for Moshiri. It was never going beyond this summer, barring some miraculous performance.

Allardyce did actually have a chance to confound all the preconceptions of him, under very little pressure. He could've got us playing some good stuff, developed players like Lookman and Vlasic and he could've shut the likes of you and me up, and made the situation more difficult for Moshiri.

But no. He's confirmed everything we thought about him, and actually reinforced all the negative preconceptions.

Really don’t understand why people get so precious about moving someone on when you feel you can appoint someone better. That’s what football is about. You try and get better players so why wouldn’t you try and get a better manager too.
There’s zero loyalty in football so why should we be the 1s who show it regardless. Do city and Liverpool fans not want new signings because their players did so well last season. Did Utd fans not want LVG sacked despite winning the FA Cup. Did Arsenal fans not want Wenger sacked despite the entire club being built on his success. Chelsea will have sacked their last 2 title winning managers

I understand “be careful what you wish for” because results have been decent enough. Does that mean we shouldn’t strive for better in every aspect of our club? Don’t dream because it might not work out?

I haven’t liked the way allardyce has been treated. I don’t think we’ve (the fans)done ourselves any favours. Saying thanks but we are going in a different direction is very much our right though. Not sure where every other fuckers morality is suddenly coming from

Moyes is going. The Swansea manager is going. Palace sacked a manager after about 6 weeks. Contes going. Wengers going

When we aren’t shown loyalty Moyes and Rooney it’s celebrated in the press. Now suddenly we should lead the way and be the loyal ones

If we think we can do better and we can afford to make that decision then it absolutely should be made
