Title: Mauricio Lemos
Post by: Cozzie on May 16, 2017, 01:52:13 AM
As part of a 75M spree acording to the Telegraph.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/05/15/everton-consider-bid-forlas-palmas-defendermauricio-lemos-part/

Also mentions Andre Gray  :eh:

Dont want Andre Gray.  Hes the exact opposite of what Everton as a community club stands for.

Got to say I think Gray is quite shite. Live in Burnley and most Burnley fans aren't too fussed about him going. He's a nothing player.

Think that's a little harsh. People have pasts. He's not in a popularity contest. However he is shit

Agreed on Gray, but its what Koeman and Walsh see in him that matters.

Looks really good!

Big, strong, can tackle, has excellent timing. Can play and is very composed but also seems to know when to just clear it to safety.

I like him. I want him. And all that was based on this 5min YouTube highlight clip -

Lemos is an absolutely cracking player and I would love to see him at Everton.

As happy as Las Palmas fans were to get him last year, the expectation from most was that they would lose him in a couple of years to a top club if he carried on developing (If I am honest, I don't think they had us in mind when they said that though!). He is definitely still a developing player and makes mistakes. I would be a little concerned about him coming in as a first choice CB as our fans might turn when he starts passing it around the back and gets caught out if expectations were high. In Las Palmas he would get abuse if he hoofed it, so the change in expectations might be a shock !!

Weirdly enough though he was brought in because Alcaraz was crocked, so may be he wouldn't find the situation that different at all !!!

Looks impressive. Jags-esque with some of the blocks and his legs pick the ball out from attackers feet in a tidy manner like Stones does.

Seems a lot more composed than the average South American CB.

That's what Im saying. From what I've seen he's like a corss between Stones and Luiz. I worry about our fans, or even Koeman having the patience for the way he plays.

He's looked boss whenever I've wayched him though and even has a cheeky free kick in him

After VVD (pipe dream), this is who I want.

I am content to let Jags and Funes Mori (yes, throw your insults) battle it out for the other starting slot, with Holgate serving as the #4 (and the loser's partner for Cup games and the occasional League game when we have a Thursday Europa match).

Economical, and I think could be very effective.  Use the bulk of funds on attacking midfield and apprentice striker.

yup.  Can get some money for him, and I don't think he really fit. Holgate needs to play, and we need to at least prove Funes Mori is match fit before he can be sold off (and I'm not convinced he's that bad - he can at least be a #3).
Title: Re: Mauricio Lemos
Post by: Jimmywhack on May 30, 2017, 11:12:51 PM
Send Holgate on loan. Send Galloway on loan. Send Kenny on loan. All to the championship

Sign a right back, a left back and two centre backs

By the time they come back, better for the experience, hopefully, Jagielka and Williams will be done.

Or keep all three and they will get cup games. Kenny may start the season with Coleman injured but it's doubtful
Title: Re: Mauricio Lemos
Post by: TheRam on May 30, 2017, 11:34:41 PM
Holgate is poor CB. I'd keep all our centre halves and try our best to sign two top quality CB's

People need to remeber we have Europe next year and players like Williams and Jags will prove very important.

Williams isnt a poor centre half, he just isnt a very good one. But he can slot in against the bottom half sides and not be too much of an issue, same with Jags and Mori.

Dont want any of those three starting the season though and I'll be dissapointed if any of them do.

Don't think 2 is that outlandish given that Coleman is out and we may well sign someone to cover and provide competition for his place once he returns. However, yes I'd be surprised if we're lining up with two new CBs...although I'd not be opposed. I assume we're keeping at least one of Williams and Jagielka as we'll need the depth.

Am I missing something?  You just called him a poor centre back like it was a statement of fact. Nothing to do with Williams. Don't know why you mentioned that.

And be honest - you've had a few pops at him through the season too. And not just for his crossing (which most agree isn't very good). I can't understand why.
