Really wish it had been Rom to win the game when he went through on his right foot right before the end.

Encouraging to see him celebrating like a mad man when we did get the winner despite missing out on the records up for grabs.

Amazing what one moment in a game will do. The mood on here would be the most hostile it has been all season had Cleverly not made that ludicrous header.

But he did.

It's a funny old game.

Resilience; away win at a club in form, a clean sheet and a scorer from midfield. Just what we need to push on. Merry Chrimbo!

Was a bit lucky in the end to get a win, but was funny from where I was sitting listening to the silence of complete and utter shock at what unfolded with the last kick of the game.

Also had perfect view for the goal.

Fantastic way to win a game - can you imagine the confidence that the players will be feeling right now?

Yes, our defence still looks porous and Mitrovic will be cursing himself but:

- We just beat a team that has been in some recent good form at their home ground.
- I thought we played just as well in the second half as in the first half.
- Thought Lennon was decent today and while it was a shame to see him subbed off, it was good to see Martinez make more use of the bench. McLaren only made his first and only sub in the 87th minute!
- We kept a clean sheet, which might give our defence a bit more confidence and every day that passes, Jags is closer to returning.

Interesting stat: Everton have their fewest away defeats (1) between the start of season and new year since 1908.

Aaron Lennon deserves more game time at the expense of both Mirallas and Kone. His work rate and contribution to the team is worthy of him getting on the pitch more. His tracking back is phenomenal.
Steinbeck's maxim: “Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”.

His tracking back was one of the things that surprised me last season. This may help more with keeping clean sheets in the future if you have someone like him on the pitch to help out with the defence.

I think where Roberto is concerned as he's obviously not the best defensive coach in the prem it's a bit of a bonus on the quiet.

How did we sound in the away end? Didn't have a clue who the hell scored from my view way up high at the other end

MOTD managing to make that look like a 50/50 game from the highlights
Jeff: That's not the way to win.
Kathie: Is there a way to win?
Jeff: There's a way to lose more slowly.

In terms of clear cut chances they are probably spot on. They can't really show highlights of unrelenting possession in the first half otherwise they'd just be showing the first half.
