Cattermole and Cana are nasty buggers and we need phil and mo mo in the centre to stop them from controlling that part of the park

I'd be tempted to play that team. Although I might be tempted now to play Senderos ahead of Distin and see how he gets on. Distin I think has been dropped in a little too early and still seems a bit off the pace.

Would like to see Neville dropped for Coleman, Osman in for Bily (not cause he's better but cause Bily needs a rest), and yes, Senderos in for Distin (although I do rate Distin highly...not sure why there's no love for the guy)

We should beat Sunderland.

When is Jags back anyhow? Can't come soon enough.

But I don't like writing players off ahead of time, so if he was looking ok in training I'd not be adverse to trying out Senderos. We need some competition in the defence.

Bruce calls Darren Bent "Benty" haha. Sorry...

Should win this. They don't have that creative of a centre mid partnership. Mostly just watching how they tackle and keeping their forwards quiet.

Bily a rest. Osman on. I am undecided about playing Coleman.

Id start with Neville and bring Coleman on if we need a goal which should have been done today.  Osman should also definitely start.  Id be very surprised if Arteta started.
We need to win our next two league games if we have any serious aspirations for europe this season.

I agree about Saha he's being a lazy ******* lately at least Vaughan gives it a go every game. Plus Saha is being so lazy when we attack he just strolls back not caring at all about being offside.

If Donovan does start I hope they go back to using his service from the wing. Seems against Birmingham Moyes had him drifting inside more to make runs. I suppose this would've been allright if Neville's crosses had gone anywhere except the 15th row. Put him back on the wing! He's the US leading scorer but only because we've had no proper strikers until recently and even those are very young and inexperienced.

i'd go along with this team.wouldn't be dropping saha just yet. keep him sweet and hope he signs a new contract. best striker at the club by far. another thing that annoys me is when we were 2 down why not keep saha on and put vaughan up with him. sacrafice a defender

Neville has to play ,end of. He was poor against Brum but we need him on the park. Coleman deserves at least half a game too . It's typical Moyes NOT to play him when the lad has made a big impact and made a couple of goals. Saha should start but Vaughan to come on later ,about time he got back on the goal trail.

I wouldn't be keen on seeing Neville and Fellaini in the middle, the partnership lacks creativity and is far too defensive. Realistically we could push Fellaini forward and play Osman and Neville in the middle with Coleman at right back, which would give us a nice balance.

Not ideal for Fellaini but he looks far more likely to score than Cahill and whilst I'd like to see Bilyaletdinov behind the striker, it won't happen. Or we could just play Osman and Fellaini in the middle with Cahill behind Saha, but I can see us lacking firepower.

I've said every game since November is "must win", but this one really is "must win".

Sunderland have been lacklustre of late and if we can't give them a humping at Goodison then we can kiss goodbye to the whole season I think.

Andy Gray summed it up well there.

You may be, suppose he's similar to a striker in that mould, without the service he won't perform. He needs good movement around him to make it easier for him to pass and open up space, which he in turn can do with his runs, not to mention he can really score them when he's in form.

Outstanding first half performance. Just what we needed after the dire first half from the weekend. That move that finished with Osman's shot on the edge of the area was mouth watering.

Would be nice for Saha or Fellaini to get a goal in the second half to wrap things up.

All I have managed to see was his cross for the goal but the lad has so much more skill than I ever realised.  Osman appears to be having a blinder too.

They're just pushing us about now because they can't create anything. At 2-0 we're vulnerable if they nick one, but they really aren't in the game.

We're not playing like we did in the first half though, so it's always dangerous.

Great stat on Sky Sports there, Moyes has spent £118 million in is (almost) 8 years as boss, but he's brought £85 million back in from sales. That's 32 million over 8 years which equals a spend of 4 million a year.

From what I saw of the second half it was scrappy until the last 10-15 minutes when Howard won us that clean sheet. Another superb save in injury time from him.

Outstanding first half, average second half. We need to start putting in good halves in games, but for tonight it's the result that counted. Up to ninth and only four points off Birmingham now.

Overall a really good result and one we really needed, we are now 9th in the table.

1st half, I thought we were really good, there was real desire shown by the players and they were not afraid of the ball. Sunderland hardly did anything until that Kenwyne Jones effort at the end of the half.

2nd half was fine until the 65th minute when for some reason we started becoming really sloppy and giving the ball away for fun and invited Sunderland into our half. We were lucky that Sunderland are in such poor form and are low on confidence because otherwise the score would not have stayed 2-0.

Anyway, its good to see more players returning from injury and our bench for once was not filled with inexperienced youngsters. Good to see Donovan scoring for us and good to see Arteta getting slowly back into things after nearly a year out. We just need to work on our consistency and realise that football is a game that lasts 90 minutes - not 65 minutes.
