Kick off Tuesday night.
They've had a weeks rest, we'll have had half of that, not feeling confident at all here.
3 nil to man city.
-
They'll win comfortably.
-
I thought City were awful vs the RS , Is Kompany still banned ? I hope so and Savic plays , he's crap , Denis will terrorise him ;D

Kompany is back.
-
Kompany is back.
.. and no Ossie to beat him in the air .. Well have to leave that to RR instead :snigger:
-
Let's hope this is the start of a decent run. 2-2 draw, Cahill and Donovan for us.
Howard
Neville Duffy Heitinga Baines
Donovan Fellaini Gibson Drenthe
The Firecraker Cahill
Really important that we generate a good atmosphere here and play at a high tempo. If we allow Silva time on the ball they will destroy us.
-
i think we'll need hibbert at rb this game. Man city have fast wingers in Johnson and Kolarov who can both whip in dangerous balls. I doubt neville can keep up with them all game long. the fulham game was ok. no really fast player on the left except duff but he played on the right most of the game.
-
I've got 3 words to say;
Everton are back!
-
I have a sneaky feeling we will get a result here and it will be the turning point of our season.
-
as long as Saha doesnt play, the Strac starts and we play with passion, i dont really care about the scoreline
-

Hmm? Hope your right. They actually made a lot of effort last night.
-
Why was the fixture moved? Its going to be a pain in the arse to get to Goodison on a Tuesday night for me, and my Dad can't make it at all.

Adam Johnson will destroy Nev if they play 1v1 (Hoilett) , but i doubt he will start. They will probably play something more narrow like a 4-2-3-1 rather than with out and out wingers, so pip might be okay.
Talking about wingers both Hoilett and Johnson should be available this summer about 10-15 million for the pair of them, come on Bill do it....
-
Johnson signed a new 5 year deal in November.

Johnson signed a new 5 year deal in November.
So did Samba
-
So did Samba
So did Lescott before he left us. The point is, in the mad world of player prices you wouldn't get Johnson for £10-£15m, never mind both of them especially with Johnson having nearly 5 years left on his contract.

Isn't he out of contract in the summer?
-
True but Hoilett is out of contract and considering that Johnson is not currently in the starting lineup(barely started a prem game this season) in a team that will only strengthen further. Its not out of the realm of possibilty that they could accept a 10-15 million bid for him, taking into account the pressure on him to get regular games by the english press.
Anyway mute point because we dont have the money. Just looking at the money Liverpool and United have wasted, we could go a long long way with 10-20 million right now.
-
Hope we destroy the hopes and dreams of every single one of those narcissistic little Sky Blue wankers.
Sink them Straq man. :tit:
-
I would be happy to see the same lineup although I wouldn't be against Hibbert or Drenthe coming in. A draw would be a great result I just hope we put in a good performance.
-
As long as we don't play like we did at the Ethiad, i'll be happy
-
We played well last night and got a deserved win...
.. So in typical Everton fashion, 3-1 City.
-
bet it will be hibbo back in at right back. Neville pushed into midfield, young gueye to be benched for anichebe and saha will be back instead of straq. would be typical Moyes.
-
They aren't invincible, so I hold out some hope. I don't expect us to go toe-to-toe with them on the attacking front, but I'd like to be a bit of fight and spirit going forward.
I understand the argument that they only just beat us last time round (at a time when they were hammering everyone) but I hate the argument that our tactics were spot on because we lost by the least. They were boring and would never lead to anything that a loss or (if we were lucky) a mind numbingly boring 0-0.
Up and at 'em!
-
They only squeezed past Wigan away and we should have more to offer than them. A good atmosphere is key to us getting a result. Hopefully the Lescott boos help with that

I have a horrible feeling we may see this, solely for the fact that Neville will be asked to perform a man marking job on Silva, much like Rodwell did at the Etihad. I can see Anichebe being given the striker position ahead of Saha too, unless Moyes employs Anichebe on the left wing instead of Gueye.
-
anyone see a shock return from distin here or hibbert to cb??
-
none of the following would surprise me: Hibbo back and Neville at centre mid, Distin Back and in for Duffy, Straq dropped for Saha, Drenthe not in squad, Vic back in starting line up, Gueye dropped
Some good, some not
-
At least they will have a ready made excuse for no signings on deadline day " we were busy preparing for the city game "
-
Hibbo to replace Neville and Drenthe likewise for Geuye would be the changes i'd make.If we play like we did on Friday we can get something out of this,City are not the side they were before xmas, however they are still capable of giving sides a real mauling,if we play like we have the last 2 home games then we will get stuffed. So the same passion as friday please lads and i'll go for 1-1.
-
Hoping for
Howard
Hibbert Distin Heitinga Baines
Gibson Rodwell Fellaini
Donovan Drenthe
Straq
2 1 To us, fellaini and donovan
-
Confident of getting a point.

1-0 donovan
eh, a boy can wish cant he?
-
1-4 to them i hope im wrong though
-
Bloody Peter Walton is the ref , That old bastard shouldn't be let near a football pitch
-
Howard
Hibbert Duffy Heitinga Baines
Donovan Fellaini Gibson Drenthe
Saha Jelovic
Could happen...
-
Howard
Hibbert – Manolas – Heitinga – Baines
Donovan – Fellaini – Gibson – Hoilett
Rodallega – Jelavic
Doyle and El Hamdoui will be benched I guess.
-
It's a funny old game... But some times hilarious
Everton 3-1
Firecracker, Baines and Cahill
(so tempted to say lescott own goal)
Let the man shitty decline start...
-
the shite showed them up last week so hopefully we can do the same. 2-1 i reckon, straq and cahill for us, aguero for city
-
Is Kompany back for them? They are different proposition without him at the back, and if they go with Kolarov at left back I think Donavon would give him nightmares.
For us though I would imagine it would be along the lines of;
Howard
Hibbert Duffy Heitinga Baines
Neville
Donavon Cahill Fellaini Gibson
Anichebe
-

Kompany's suspension is up. He was out for both legs of the CC Semifinal, and the PL matches against Wigan and Spurs.
I also expect Jelavić to at least make an appearance, if not start, presuming the transfer is as close to done as it is reported to be.
2-1 for me, Cahill cancelling out Agüero's opener and Stracqualursi or Jelavić netting the winner five minutes from time.

think jelavic would have to be signed and registered by 12pm earlier today so dont think he'll ne eligible to play
-
Do you think if we let them win they would give us tevez on loan for the rest of the season and pay his wages?
-
Very quietly, almost supersonically, confident of a result.
-
Just can't read how this game will go. If we have signed Jelavic though hopefully spirits will be high and a great atmosphere. Friday there was a great atmosphere and it definitely helps the players.lets do our bit
-
Hopefully the new players will be paraded and really get the crowd going. Gutted I am not going.

This will be a 2-2 for me tonight - then a cheeky wait outside either the Park End or club shop for the unveiling of a last minute signing with the Sky Sports cameras!

I'd rather not to be honest especially as we are playing the richest club in the world, tad embarrassing celebrating signing a new player in front of their fans and on tv. shakeyheadman

Both Toures missing for them plus Balotelli.they haven't been exactly on fire recently.hopefully we have a real go at them

He has, he just hasn't been punished.
I think he's done well but I can see the worry that his lack of pace and know how could be ruthlessly exposed against City.
Again, there is the argument over whether he could cope with that in the long term. Hibbert obviously is used to playing (well and badly) against this type of opposition.
I do think that we could be exposed height wise though as Heitinga is small for a CB.
I won't mind whichever way Moyes choses.

Possibly, but then you can argue that the fans will be buoyed by Jelavic signing and Pienaar returning, thus inspiring the players against opponents who we've had the number of over the last few years, so we could end up getting the win.
-
Hope for a good atmosphere tonight, let's get the place rocking! COYB
-
think there will be a good atmosphere supposing jelavic does indeed sign.
looking forward to watching duffy and straq as this will be their biggest test yet
odds are long but hoping we can hang in and nick a draw
-

Agreed, I think that could be the difference tonight.
If we get off to a positive start, maybe get a couple of decisions against us, then hopefully that will trigger the atmosphere we need.
-
Team confirmed: Howard, Neville, Hibbert, Heitinga, Baines, Donovan, Fellaini, Gibson, Drenthe, Cahill, Stracqualursi.
Hibbert at centre back, Drenthe on left. otherwise everyone in the usual positions.

no saha ;)
-
Would have stuck with Duffy myself, but I can understand the logic in putting Hibbert in. I do worry about Heitinga and Hibbert's ability to deal with Dzeko in the air though.
-
Jesus that defence is a disgrace,
hope to be proved wrong and we get a clean sheet
-
Mancini has his best squad on the pitch tonight. Three points are a huge ask from this match.
-
If Hibbert doesn't have a stormer Moyes has opened himself to all sorts of criticism, shame as the rest of the side is very good.
-

I don't think he needs to have a stormer, but if he's at fault for any goals (and we lose) then he'll be getting slaughtered for it.
-
Feel sorry for Duffy, he's done well enough since being put in.
-
I feel for Duffy, sometimes it seems we only play youth when there is no other able bodied senior team player who can be shoehorned into the spot in question.
I don't think Hibbert is necessarily a bad option there (although two short CBs is a bit worrying), but the bigger problem I really think moves like this can potentially torpedo a young player's confidence. He has made a couple of mistakes but they clearly aren't the reason he is being dropped, case in point Jags for a lot of this season...in fact Jags has at times played a lot worse.
Moyes could stand to have a little more faith in a player who has stepped up well I feel.

This.
Plenty of people would be glad to see the back of Hibbert (me included) and so why he justifies a place when Duffy has done as least as well as those he has replaced is a mystery.
No doubt if we win (or even draw) all that will be glossed over, but it does raise serious questions about why Moyes picks Hibbert and Neville in advance of younger players with more potential !
-
Bad decision. How the hell is a player supposed to get experience of playing against the bigger teams if he is dropped for dwarf right back?
-
Subs: Mucha, Gueye, Barkley, Vellios, Forshaw, Duffy, Baxter
-
Everton XI: Howard, Neville, Hibbert, Heitinga, Baines, Donovan, Fellaini, Gibson, Drenthe, Cahill, Stracqualursi
Subs: Mucha, Duffy, Forshaw, Barkley, Gueye, Baxter, Vellios
Man City XI: Hart, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy, Nasri, Barry, Milner, Nasri, Aguero, Dzeko
Subs: Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Kolarov, Savic, De Jong, Johnson, Razak
Not a whole lot of attacking options for Mancini off the bench. If we nick a goal early, we've got a great chance for 3 points.
-
Subs: Mucha, Gueye, Barkley, Vellios, Forshaw, Duffy, Baxter
no experience there - and Pienaar on Spurs bench
-
Young bench there! Would be nice for one of them to come on and make a name for themself
-
I can understand it myself and actually expected it. If Duffy had a nightmare against City tonight it could set him back months, they move the ball around quickly and thats not his strengths anyway. As for worrying about Dzeko he's a bit like Crouch in the air (poor mainly) so City keep it moving on the ground and Hibbert can deal with that.
Tough call from Moyes but the right one in my opinion, but I do hope he's back in for Wigan.
-
I'm baffled as to why he's dropped Duffy.
-
Awful decision in my opinion however, the final result will determine if it is the correct one.
-
Straq to score then engage in a tense stare off with Jelavic leading to a feud for our only striking berth.
-
Would losing a match and not playing well really set you back that much??? how and why? he's lost youth, reserve and even first team matches before,
you can't protect young players from losing a match it happens and to be honest playing the best side in the league its even expected, he needs to know the big players are better it's a challenge to equal or better them
-
I'm baffled as to why he's dropped Duffy.
Got to agree with Samwise. See above ;D FFS This forum is quick tonight See page 6.
-
Richards is hobbling in warmups. Zabaleta may come in instead.
-
It sure is frustrating to know that any of the opposing 11 players tonight could probably buy our club.
-
is vic injured again? at least silva is missing

-

It's not losing matches you have to protect young players from, it's the usual knobheads booing him if he makes a mistake.
-
I think there's some overreaction to Duffy being dropped in here to be honest. He's 3 games in to his PL career, so there's no need to get upset about him not getting the experience of playing against City. If he's good enough, he'll have plenty of opportunities in future.
If he were to come in tonight and have a poor game, which is possible and he has made mistakes so far (he's still at the stage where people turn a blind eye at the moment) then that's what could really do the lad some damage. He'll be down about not starting tonight for sure, but I doubt it will hurt his confidence. I'm sure he'll have been spoken to, told he's done well so far but that we don't want to put him under too much pressure when he is so new to PL football.
Youngsters are blooded slowly at EFC, but if they're good enough then they will find there way and stay in. That's always been the case and I don't think there's cause to get too upset on the basis of tonight's team.
By the way, personally I WOULD have started him tonight. I can completely understand the argument against it though.

Both. Neville right back, Hibbert centre back.

Sensitive lot those footballers,
I think it would do him alot worse being dropped for a right back than it would playing him myself.

Not impressed with Neville hoofing. Need to keep the ball.
-
we look far too open in this, not looking good at all.
-
what's the story with the scoreboard at goodison, it looks to be covered??
-
Remember when we signed Drenthe? We were warned that he was a hugely frustrating player. Moments of brilliance offset by giving away simple balls. He cost us a draw earlier in the season against City.
-
Drenthe looks like Mr T
-
Hoofed balls, horrendous control and mis placed passes sum up this half.
-
Is the best we can do from the edge of their box to pass it back to Howard? FFS.

gibson has no composure at all, very unsure about him.

WHAT!?! Are you lads being serious !!?!
-
The guy needed a t-shirt to explain why he was doing it
He needed to be left there and have the ball repeatedly smashed at his face.
-
It's a really smart act, getting yourself banned from going the game because you care so much :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

I'll take a scoreless draw at the half, really. Stracq's effort cleared off the line, and the Nasri long range shot could have gone in off the bar.
Stracq looking bright, Cahill pitching in. Kompany on a yellow is great. Wouldn't mind either Gueye and Vellios for Drenthe and Gibson, with Cahill dropping back. Perhaps Barkley for the last 10? There's a goal in this one somewhere.
-
Moron handcuffing himself to the post. TBU protest? Hmm... We had all the momentum up until that point as well. Might have been better to wait until a bit of City pressure again. ;)
We've been ok in spells, and our pressing has been really, really good. Other times though we've been very sloppy and we could be 1/2 goals down. Cut out the mistakes and we could just nick this one.
edit: Guy was said to be protesting against Ryanair surcharges. According to Ian Doyle (Daily Post sports reporter) on twitter anyway
-
It's hard enough for us to score as is without them having two goalkeepers ffs.
-
The guy needed a t-shirt to explain why he was doing it
He had one, but handcuffed himself before revealing it.
Thick cunt.
-
Protest against ryanair???

Holy Shit, that's Bue Phoenix!
-
Just had a quick butchers on the bu website, statement from them saying the guy was wrong and it has nothing to do with them,so to those who blame them look elsewhere
-
oh yeah its half time now. Quick run down would be one Straq header cleared off the line by Lescott early on---- midfield bog down ------felli misses a chance after good work baines/straq----- nasri hits crossbar with a great effort---- nut job hand cuffs himself to joe harts goal. Not much else in the way of chances. Straq throwing himself around well
-

Think for the most part Gibsons done well here
-
Think for the most part Gibsons done well here
True. Donovan's touch hasn't been great, but his corners have been good; he's one that could possibly go off. The problem with the bench is that we don't have much width on the bench that you'd think could impact the game. Outside of Gueye, there's not really a wing option, unless you force Barkley out wide.
Personally, if I'm Moyes I tell Stracq and Cahill to go right at Kompany, try to pick up some fouls and get him booked again. Hold out, try to steal a goal off a set piece or knockdown.
-
i'm not sure on gibson, i think we all hope he's the answer but with all the midfielders we have i really dont know what our plan is with him. ok as a squad player but not a starter when everyones fit.
personnally i still think he was signed as it was a deal too good to turn down with the possibility of us selling someone in the summer.
-
funny listenning to moyes shouting at dennis all the time, good support fro him tho too in fairness.
-

I see him as a squad player too, but you can see Moyes playing him week in week out because he is an ex Man U player, despite better options.
-
Living dangerously at the moment. Need to maintain some possession.
-
Apparently the handcuff protest was against Ryanair...
Did their baggage fees for Jelavic's flight mean we didn't have the cash for the Manolas deal?
-
maybe if neville stops hoofing to city players it would help
-
thought gibson could shoot from distance?
-
gibson keeps getting rid of it too quickly like its a hot potatoe. composure lad and you could have played someone in there.
-
Nice, Stracq! Got Lescott booked.
-
gibson!!
-
gibson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
YEEEES Gibson
-
Gibsssssssssssssssssssonnnnnn nnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!1
-
get in there, beautiful.
as i was saying about gibson lol
-
Delighted for the lad. Delighted for us. Lets not fuck this up now!!
-
gibson keeps getting rid of it too quickly like its a hot potatoe. composure lad and you could have played someone in there.
Nice one, works every time :)
-
That's the first time I've really cheered an Everton goal in earnest. Amazing what a little hope can do.
-
love how straq pointed for drenth to play it out wide, MOM so far for me
-
Get in lads! :hail:
-
Get in!!!
-
Are the cameras at a higher position? I've never noticed that the near side touchline is largely being cut out before.
-
problemis we may tre and no real experienced players on bench..............wheres anichebe?
-
what a couple of runs by donovan, too bad there
-
Thought Drenthe was going get sent off there after he flipped the ball.
I feel like we're hanging on now.
-
Baxter for Drenthe. Good sub.
-
Baxter for Drenthe- Strange sub.. hope it works out
-

We are mate, can't say I'm surprised but at least we're hanging on whilst we're winning, we're normally doing this 1 or 2 goals behind.
-
Baxter for Drenthe- Strange sub.. hope it works out
Think it's a good sub, Drenthe would have got sent off soon I tthink.
-
Cahill struggling after that one. Sub him for Vellios, or maybe Duffy with Neville going into midfield?
-
Hibbos been solid today

About time for a time-wasting sub or two...
-
Hurry up and finish, I've a couple of subs to pick up!

donovan is great

Yes!
-
It's a good day to be an Evertonian.
-
:woohoo:
-
yesssssssssssssssssssssssssss sssssssssssssssssssssssssss
-
Great result!
First time in a really long time that a game excited me!
-
Heroic performance. Eleven lions out there tonight who gave absolutely everything, especially in the second half.
Stracqualursi, Heitinga and Hibbert were the standouts for me, but like I said all eleven starters deserve every bit of praise they get tonight. Absolutely made up.
-
Everton are back!
-
Where are all the Straq haters now? Superb tonight, toss up between him and Heitinga for MoM
-
COYB
-

Get in there!!! The old lady was a wake tonight :hail:
-
Fucking brilliant stuff, the first time in ages that we've really had something to get excited about and I've missed that feeling.
Straq superb, Hibbert completely vindicated Moyes' decision and Heitinga was outstanding. Can't complain about anyone though, they were up for it all over the place and I really really hope that's a corner turned tonight.
-
Thank you. Thank you very much much Everton.
-
what a welcome for jelavic! if that doesn't inspire him i don't know what will.
passion back in our team! :-)
-
top class stuff. Really enjoyed that. Good night so far, have we got anymore up our sleeve. I can dream again

100% this! Great result and a bit of belief back! Clean sheet at home too

Moyes played blinder, not tactics spot on, personnel perfect.
-
Fantastic result. What a game. Some great efforts put in there. Heitinga, Hibbert, Gibson and Straq all stood out.
More importantly than the result is that the team spirit seems to be back. It was there for the cup game. Wonder whats changed? Whatever it is thank god its happened.
-
Magnificent to a man all played well Straqa man of the match sign him Moyse, also for some reason I cant open new topics tonight so ill say it here apparently Bill Kenwright missed the match tonight apparently in London trying to tie up a deal for Pienaar, whether he does or not total respect to the man,he may not be the perfect owner, okay we need new owners but the man is an Evertonian through and through
-
I can't believe nobody has mentioned Fellaini, I thought he was awesome today!
-
Great result!
First time in a really long time that a game excited me!
Yeah, we've been woeful too many times this season. I don't know what it is against City, but we always put in a shift.
Have to say, from dissing Stracq ever since he came, he was brilliant tonight. He's not a silky footballer by any means, but he gives everything for the cause. I appreciate that much more if I'm honest.
-
delighted to be proved wrong
-
Strac and Felli were immense!
-
Are we still getting relegated?
-
Felli was great. Mopped up everything and most of the breaks came from him
-
Thank you. Thank you very much much Everton.
This
Beating City always feels so right.
Its like good triumphing over evil.
-
delighted to be proved wrong
Don't worry! Be happy. Sure you'll get me one day. COYB.
-
Wish I had a bet! I knew we would win tonight.
-
contrast tonight to the last deadline day, thank you everton, reminded me of the '05 united win.
-
Felli was great. Mopped up everything and most of the breaks came from him
MOM - but hats off for Straq (first time I've been pleased - but he was great today) - and Heitinga and Hibbert did very well - Great goal from Gibson - great night - COYB

Totally agree!
-
It's safe to say now that the Hibbert for Duffy decision was a good one.
-
Not one bad performer tonight. Brilliant game. Im so pumped right now! First time all year
-
It's safe to say now that the Hibbert for Duffy decision was a good one.
This Hibbo and Heitinga were exemplary at the back.
As has been said Fellaini was great and Straq made a right nuisance of himself, if he keeps this up he may well be a full time option for us.
Also nice to see Donovan continuing to rack up the assists but we could really do with getting in some one to replace him before the window shuts.
-
moyes post match interview, said it was the best performance since he came to everton. not sure i'd agree but maybe best victory when you compare squads and injuries. Also said he's still hoping to get one more in
-
Comedy highlight of the game was Heitinga giving Fellaini a clip round the ear for cavorting with Dzeko.
-
Brilliant result and performance tonight. It's a long time since there's been a bit of feel good during a game, I actually enjoyed the nerves willing us to hold on for the last few minutes.
-
Haven't had this feeling for a very long time. Well over a year.
-
Outstanding. Hibbert, Heitinga, Fellaini were great but Denis was just out of this world. I am proud that I am one of the few who has stuck by him, while many others just had him written off. That was the most amount of effort from a striker I have ever seen. Even when he was dead on his arse he was in for everything. Fucking brilliant, would be made up if we could sign him up
-
i love strac, he always runs so much but today he had some very good touches of ball and passing, he is a lot more confident since he scored. hibbert was very good too, he is a very good defender. felliani plays well, and dovovan too, he is so good on the ball and composed. yeah great feeling now !! ;D clap
-
Credit to Micah Richards tonight, him and Drenthe really went at each other and looked like they enjoyed it. He could have made a big deal of Drenthe's challenge but didn't.
A rare bit of class from a City player.
-
marks to moyes for playing hibbert an outstanding game from him to be fair
-

And to be fair, RR should've been sent off for that challenge. No wonder Moyes took him off straight away.
-
Drenthe could have screwed us there. Was a bad effort and could have got sent off. Fair play to Richards.
-

Totally agree, a lot of players would have tried to get him sent off. He also played well Richards. Only gripe tonight is the chants towards Lescott, I thought we were better than that. Boo him by all means but there's no need for that song.
-

If ever 10 seconds summed a player up - that was it! Cheeky outrageous clever flick, blistering pace and at the end of it - madness!
-
Richards always has been a class act to be fair.

Easy answer - No Saha. Weve had 11 on the pitch.
-
I've had a lump in my throat for last half hour, proud of every single one of them,Hibbo and heitinger imense,Donovan a touch of class,Straque, as sir stealth said out on his arse at the end but still up and at them, fucking brilliant, and Felliaini,oh my word. The win was great tonight, but even better, was having our old Everton back, and seeing goodison bouncing again.
-
Don't you just love Denis ;D ?
-
Shouldn't have to praise a player because he gets up after a tackle, suppose that shows how grim the game is.
I had shivers when I seen Straqs ovation, he was fucking superb and is much more than a workhorse.
-

He was immense tonight, run himself into the ground and to go with the hard work he did good with holding the ball up and bringing others into play, MOT easily for me, i know Heitinga and Hibbo was solid but Stracq for his work rate and game play was brilliant.
-
I had shivers when I seen Straqs ovation, he was fucking superb and is much more than a workhorse.
This. Wish we'd started him earlier and took him off when he was blowing rather than giving him 10 mins at the end to change again. Oh well, he's coming on now and that's the main thing. P.S. - How chuffed were the lads at the end? The Goodison Spirit looked back in force!
-

Couldn't have put it better myself! Was amazing the ovation he got when he came off ;D
-
Quite a few players who deserved MoM tonight (Fellaini and Heitinga in particular)...got to be Stracq, though. His hustle, intelligence and perseverance represented everything we've been missing over the past few months.
Hope he continues to turn in performances like that.
-
Great for Jelavic to see the effort expected from a striker at Everton and the appreciation that can be earned from the crowd.
-
I don't think I'm alone in feeling that Straq is starting to show he is an Everton player with Everton spirit. He has my affections at the moment. Drenthe is a funny one. He looks like he has the get up and go, and the bright ideas needed to succeed, and he shows flashes of brilliance and flashes of clumbsiness in equal measures. I think he'll come good, especially if we give him the love.
David Moyes deserves a lot of praise for tonight. It makes me happy when I see the guy smile.
-
From BBCSport:- Man City boss Roberto Mancini admits he "did not prepare very well" for Everton game, thought it would be "easier"
What cunt, statements like that just make it all the sweeter.
-
I called it first;
EVERTON ARE BACK!
-
brilliant performance from the lads tonight, defended like lions and attacked when possible. was just written for gibson to score his first for us, being an ex united player. fellaini was a monster in midfield, hibbo was fantastic at the back. in fact i can have a single complaint against anyone, well bar the tit who handcuffed himself to the park end goal
the crowd was brilliant too despite being low again, i got goosebumps all over for the first time in ages. best atmosphere and performance of the season by far
-
As good as Heitinga was (and it was one his best ever games in a Everton shirt), the radio on the way home said he was MOM not Denis?
I though Denis was outstanding, they way he husslted and worked was very tevez like, albeit taking an extra touch at times to control it.
Really impressed by the big feller
I also noticed city put alot of focus on controlling baines and keeping him marked when everton had the ball
howard didnt have alot to do.
Only 3 things dissapointed me tonight
1. Jelovik wasnt registered in time to play
2, I though some of nevilles distribution at times giving the ball straight back to city was very league 1 (but something we have got use to with neville)
3. I though gibson was awful, especially 2nd half, his passing even his short passes where poor, felli carried him for long periods. Im not having ago at him as I never expect much from him. But when your already prefering rodwell or osman to be in the team ahead of him, it doesnt give you much hope for any improvement from the lad. It was even worse than his villa performance.
-
I honestly think Gibson is quality, he's a little bit rusty but he's going to be a very good player for us. What do we think of el traca? I told you his link up play is good! He's also very strong. Would you sign him?
-

For what he's done to return our bottle , spirit, and everything else wev'e been missing? lets wait and see. If you burst into tears for scoring a goal run your bollocks of till they nearly fall off? definitely. Just needs to keep doing it. Is improving all the time. If he can do that for a contract, get the crowd singing and standing ovations ? would you?
-
Great to see Moyes happy for once, I think the signings really helped give everyone a boost. Really great to hear Goodison back to sounding alive.
Great effort by the players, that was difference to tonight. Happy to see the support for Straq for the shift he put in, plus the effort Drenthe showed perhaps he is capable of listening. I'd kind of written a permanent stay out for him but if he tracks back as he was doing tonight he may yet win Moyes over.
Great clean sheet too, a bit of luck on that score but perhaps Hibbert and Heitinga are the future :)

My commiserations to Manchester City mate. We're just a better team than your lot.
-
So proud of the team, manager and club tonight. This is the fighting spirit that we are known for and long may it continue. The Manchester billionaires were outfought and out-hustled tonight. Straq was everything we want in a striker. As mentioned earlier, I hope Jelavic understands what is expected of him.
COYB!!!
-
Amazing performance. Only just watched it and enjoyed every minute of it.
Strcqulursi, take a bow son. Absolutely amazingeffort fromthe big guy. Fellaini great. Cahill great too. heitinga, Hibbert, even Neville. Drenthe was Drenthe, Baines was good. Donovan impressed, Gibson worked hard. Great game.
Still shaking.Love when we play City, always a great game.
WELCOME BACKKKK PIENAAARRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Nothing beats the feeling! I am on a total high this morning.
Stracq was tireless, a total talisman upfront. If he can play like this more often, fecking hell he was some acquisition. The rest of the team were totally up for it and I love it when Goodison is rocking. Absolutely love it.
Add in the fact that we got a couple players and off loaded Saha, then it's been a pretty great day to be an Evertonian!
-
I wonder what all the twitter Gibson boo boys think of that goal last night...
-
I wonder what all the twitter Gibson boo boys think of that goal last night...
They were singing "one Darron Gibson" at Old Trafford last night, something that apparently never happened while he was there. :snigger:
