Title: Everton v Fulham
Post by: The Golden Vision on April 23, 2012, 08:10:33 PM
Hopefully we can continue our excellent home form with another 3 points that will put us in the driving seat for 7th. Fulham have played really well since x mas too so we must play to our best to avoid any slip ups that will hand rs a chance in their 5.15 kick off.

Would like to of seen Fellaini in an advanced role again but we cannot afford to let Murphy, Diarra and Dempsey control the game in that part of the pitch. Neville back to RB.

                                                  Howard

Neville                      Heitinga                      Jagielka                     Distin

Barkley                     Gibson                        Fellaini                      Piennar

                                          Osman

                                                        Jelavic

Similar attitude to yesterday and I can't see us slipping up, strong finish to the season is needed.

2-1 win

As much as I want to see Barkley play I'd have

                                      Howard

Hibbert              Jags                          Heitinga        Distin

Osman           Gibson              Fellaini                  Pienaar
                                  Cahill
                                     Jelavic

Cahill just gives that bit of bite and might just make Fulham be a bit cautious on the counter. Plus his play/form has improved since the arrival of Jelavic. Osman's been decent on the right of late so keep him there. Don't wnat Neville anywhere near the squad. Thought he was shite yesterday.

I think he'll go with the same team as yesterday.

Can't see him dropping Neville and it'd be harsh to drop Hibbert after those 2 assists.

True think it'll be Hibbert Jags Johnny and then Neville at lb? cant see him messing with the midfield. Gibson and felli have a great understanding cant break that up.

As much as I hate Neville in midfield...

I see more goals in

Gibson   Fellaini
       Osman

Having said that we scored 4 yesterday so it may be best to stick with same team. At home though I think we will need an osman or piennar coming from the middle to unlock the defence instead of accomadating the two worst players hibbert and neville.

              Howard
Hibbert jags heitinga Neville
           Fellani Gibson
Barkley    Osman    Pienaar
               Jelavic

Couldn't really argue if he started the 11 that started at utd.

That's what I'd like to see, but Distin in instead of Jags for the moment. Don't think Jags is with the pace at present.

I I don't want to see Distin at left back again, thought he was awful there against Utd.

But it's Fulham, we could put out a team of dustbins and still beat them at Goodison.

Its a funny season though, Wigan never ever score against Utd, WBA never score at Anfield in the Prem, we scored 4 at OT for f**k sake, but we need to win this if we are to finish 7th

Moyes seems to be picking players for specific games now; I think he's been pleased with his rotations over the past 8 weeks or so, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of changes from the United XI.

This could be any result, not because I'm that bothered about playing them, more that they're likely to get something against us at some point at GP.

Think Hibbet has to play at RB after his game at United last week. Don't think moyes will put barkley in either. Unchanged from manure game.

We got a point at Man U last week . 4 goals and a big boost due to the effort of the players. Not even a win but a great result. Am a bit concerned about complacency due to Fulhams recent good form. If the team of last week turn up, there shouldn't be a problem. 3-1. Jelavic Fellaini, Gibson. Dempsey for them.

I read a stat somewhere that he's had 6 shots and scored 6 goals.  Which is very impressive considering the short space of time he's been there and its a different league to what he's played in before.

6 in 8 thus far. I've seen him play many times when he was in Russia and Germany and he's a good player. Zenit dismantled Bayern a few seasons ago (08?) and he was excellent. He's a threat.

As far as I'm aware Pogrebnyak still hasn't signed has he, he's just on loan there. IF we decided to ever play a front two he could work well with Jelavic.

What's encouraging about today's display (and last week's to a certain extent) is that this is an emergency setup. Moyes has that knack of turning adversity into an opportunity. It's a shame he can't do it without adversity.

Great first half, although 2 goals really should have been cleared off the line.  Not a bad performance on the pitch from the blues, and THAT 4th goal is a team goal that will live with me for a very long time, it may not have meant much in the scheme of things but, as has been said, it was truly a thing of beauty.

Peanuts is simply a must buy in the summer, no doubt.

Excellent performance, but very much an end of season game.  Yet again we've got the base of an excellent side (if we can bring Pienaar back permanently), and we've really got to find a way to add the extra bit that will see us be able to actually acheive something with this squad next season.  That and the mentality to play well before January too obviously.

Jelavic could turn out to be our most important signing for a long long time.  At the moment he is giving us something that we've only had briefly when Yakubu bagged his 20 goals, and I genuinely think that this is no purple patch and that we've got a proper top level striker on our hands.

I'll need to give this a watch tonight. You know it's been a good day when everton.chris posts and it's not a pile of shite.

Good month, in the league at least. 14 goals, 6 conceded although 4 of those were in one game.

Jelavic isn't bad for some no mark playing in the SPL, anyone can look good in the SPL aye? I reckon his ratio must just about be better at Everton than in the SPL?  ;D

If only......

Anyone else think Jelavic is just Berbatov but with a much better workrate? The more I see him, the more he reminds me of Berba when he was really firing at Spurs

MOTD Cliche Bingo for the post-match Hansen & Lawro analysis:

"Jelavic is a fantastic buy, can they keep hold of him?"
"Pienaar/Fellani is sensational, can they keep hold of him/them?"
"This is a big summer for Everton"
"Consistently over-achieving"
"Moyes is one of the managers of the season"
"Taken them as far as he can"
"Big club needs to come in for him"
"Will he still be there after the summer?"

Hardly surprising, it was a shit result in amongst three very good ones. We were on a good run before it, and we're back on a good run after it.

Indeed.  I'd have happily took a 0-4 bumming off Fulham today if we'd have beaten those cunts at Wembley.

Having to miss this one because of a funeral yesterday, I decided to not know the result till watching MOTD. Which makes for more exciting viewing.
We started very well, which was comforting.
Jelavic's second goal was better than his first, but it looked like another terrific display, and from Steven Pienaar and Marouane Fellaini.
Well done, another very good result.

It was fantastic. Something which was more apparent if you watched it live is that we just dominated. Fulham had one chance which Howard fantastically saved and apart from then we just played around them for 90 minutes. It was one of the most routine victories we've had in ages I think.
