Title: Everton v Hull City
Post by: blueblood1988 on March 01, 2010, 05:29:56 AM
The teams above us have FA commitments so i think there are only 4 prem games this weekend. A good win and we will close the gap to 4 points, which puts the pressure back on Villa. Hull will be no pushovers as they are fighting for their lives and have proved this season that they are capable of putting in a big performance. The game is live on tv 4pm sunday and what a better way of setting out our intentions to our europa league rivals by delivering the tigers a good beating. They will be tough in midfield and will try to stop our flow but if we set the standards of united and chelsea and not get drawn into a game of pub-hoof football i'm more than confident of claiming the 3 points. I'd like to see coleman play in this one as its about time, his energy will fresh things up. With Coleman and Donavon linking up on the right and Bainaar on the right it offers a mouth watering attacking opportunity, phil neville could be deployed in a deep defensive midfield position to soak up counter attacking threats by filling on for baines/coleman when they are up the other end. Mikky and Osman in the engine room spraying balls and suppoting king louis. Yak and billy on the bench ready to replace any tiring legs in ossie, mikky or landon. Encouraging signs from the yak of late.

4-1 to everton

Howard

Jagielka
Heitinga
Baines
Coleman   :woohoo:

Neville  role

Arteta
Osman
Pienaar (left)
Donavon (right)

Saha

Substitutes: Nash, Distin, Rodwell, Gosling, Bilyaletdinov, Vaughan, Yakubu

I want to see Yak start again tbh, he isn't a player who makes a big impact coming off the bench. Apart from that I would like to see the same team you have said.

We need to bounce back, I want a beatdown. Don't even care who plays but they have to win convincingly so we can regain some confidence.

Amazing that we'd be short on confidence two weeks after beating both Man U and Chelsea, funny game isn't it?

Actually I forgot about Yobo, I would play him over Distin and Jagielka. I think we have plenty of time to let Jagielka settle back in.

Is JAgs injured again? Not on anyone's bench.

Against Hull, if Saha is fit, we have to go 442. Have to.

Howard

Coleman Heitinga Distin Baines

Donovan Arteta Osman Pienaar

Saha Yakubu

Subs Nash, Jags, Neville, Vaughan, Bilya, Gosling, Rodwell

Play Jags until he's tired, not bring him on when things are pearshaped.

He proved yesterday that he's got it in him to do 45 mins at best, so lets see if he can get to 60mins.

Coleman will be lucky to make the bench. After his performance yesterday there will be no place for Donovan. Yak will be on the bench

Shite as Hull are, we go out with the same lacksadaisy attitude as in Lisbon and the 1st half at spurs, we'll be lucky to get anything.  Hull will be right up for a fight, we need to make sure that we are.

No need to play a holding defensive midfielder at home to Hull. Same team that beat Utd please. With maybe Coleman at right back if Moyes thinks he's up to it.

I want to see 4-3-3

Neville....Jags....Heitinga.. .Baines

..........donovan...Arteta... pienaar

.........Saha......Yak....... anichebe

Jags and johnny at CB will provide enough pasce and power to negate the need to field a defensive midfielder. Baring that in mind I have selected an all attacking midfield (with arteta sitting deeper to pull the strings). Finally with 3 big strong fuckers upfront hull will crumble.

You will rarely find both fullbacks that far up the pitch at the same time and attacks come from one side, the other or up the middle.

I'd like to see the Yak given a run.

If he hits form, especially against poor sides, he can really rack up the goals which will give everyone a confidence boost.

I don't think that Jags is ready yet for a full game so I'd go with Yobo and Heitinga.

I wouldn't mind a DM if Coleman plays as the attacking we'd lose from the middle would be replaced out wide.

Will be gutted if we can't beat Hull at home!  That would truly signal a dip and there can be no excuses that we are playing a side equal or better than us.

Howard

Neville Distin Jags Baines

Heitinga

Donovan Arteta Osman Pienaar

Yak

Subs

Nash, Bily, Rodwell, Coleman, Vaughan, Saha.

Would like to see Coleman start but won't happen.  I think we need solidity to restore confidence and this side will give us that.  It will also counteract Hull's physicality as they will undoubtedly hussle in midfield.

We are terrific at home. Al our poor games are away from home. Expect Hull to get a thumping.
Title: Re: Everton v Hull City
Post by: Dr. Sponge on March 03, 2010, 07:25:52 AM
I think no matter who we're playing, we'll always need a deeper lying midfield player, a "holding midfielder", to provide balance and protection. It leaves 5 relatively attacking players, with the extra bit of freedom to go forward.

Do not underestimate Hull, they are a Premier League side, and there are no easy games in this league any more. Remember 3-0 at half time?
Title: Re: Everton v Hull City
Post by: blargins on March 03, 2010, 07:33:46 AM
I like Arteta in that role. He dictates so well from there.
Title: Re: Everton v Hull City
Post by: Dr. Sponge on March 03, 2010, 07:46:44 AM
I like Arteta in that role. He dictates so well from there.

Yeah he's a fantastic quarter-back like, kind of Riquelme player in there, but I think in the Premier League Arteta isn't the man to be playing the holding midfield role. It requires a lot of positioning discipline when we haven't got the ball, and even when we have got the ball, to know when to hold back away from the play. Fellaini along side Arteta would be perfect in my opinion.

Also, Arteta in the holding role takes him away from our attacks in the last third, and means he'd have less freedom.

Fellaini, Rodwell, Heitinga, Neville... or Osman on his day, are the only players who should be playing there, IMO.

Fellaini alongside Arteta is the ideal, fully agree.

And what a surprise, Coleman nowhere to be seen once perma-favourite Hibbert and co are back.

Moyes stop going on about competition for places when you foster none and the favourites know they'll be in the side every week - basically unless injured.

Neville/Hibbert at RB with Anichebe on RW. That's terrible. Also why no Vaughan on the bench? No striker at all for that matter.

A battering ram that struggles to stay on his feet, and always loses the ball...

Good work for the goal, but then I could say the same about the Yak for the first. You can't let one good thing excuse many bad ones.

I wouldn't even mind Vic going up front. He is just awful on the wing.

Landycakes on one side, Pienaar on the other, we'll put these to the sword no probs.

I'm really getting tired of this slagging him off, everyone's given yak months to get back in form and saying he's been out for a year give him a break. Well so has Vic, and he's not been as bad as you're making out.

Its been a fairly entertaining game, I think we've done quite well and its good to see Arteta back to his good form. I don't think Anichebe is effective on the right wing and I wonder why Donovan didn't start.

I am unsure about our defence, at times we looked a little shaky, despite this at least we look like we will score and we are creating enough chances.

This been one of our best footballing displays for a while. I can't help but think part of it is that Hull were very poor, we had tonnes of space all over the park but we've definitely raised our game too.

Well played all (including Moyes).

i've not wanted to beat a team more than these dreadful fuckers today in my lifetime.

they are utter, utter shite and being sat in the home end at the KC having to listen to them sing "you're getting mauled by the tigers" was the single most depressing thing to happen in the history of man kind.

How times change. Now they're singing "sack the board"

A very good performance, yes Hull were poor, however, Everton showed clear signs that the players understood each other and tried to create a good passing game, all the players seemed to be on the same wavelength. It could have easily been 6-1 or 7-1 but I am glad to see that we are able to finish off the lesser teams and the players showed they were up for it.

Good result. Helps our goal difference too, which could still be important towards the end of the season.

Hull now have the worst GD in the league. One positive for them, liked the look of the Cairney lad. Looks a decent prospect.

Great game to watch and awesome performance!! Could have been alot more really. Arteta was awesome. The only negative I had was to criticise Jags for their goal as was a poor header out but apart from that he was excellent.
Dont go and get carried away though as they really really are shit! We just need to follow it up with a 1-0 away win over Brum next weekend.

The comparisons between us and Arsenal are quite close actually, similar performances and both CF's missing chances (our performance was better though because we have Heitinga ;) )

Today we passed and created like Arsenal. The only difference was we had some strength and menace at the back. Heitinga was a beast, and Jags/Distin were solid.

Oh, and even our fancy players like Arteta and Pienaar don't shy away from a tackle like their respective Arsenal counterparts might.
