Agree with the team. Pretty much picks itself at the moment.

1-1 draw. Fellaini for us, Bent for them.

I'd agree with that team Vermi'.

2-1 Everton. Saha brace. Bent (who else) for them.

1-1

Jones for them and Pienaar for us.  I just feel like we love draws to much not to draw with Sunderland.

Yep, we love a draw or two. I'd say 1-1 also.

Sunderland are an improved team.
Another tough match.
Will take a draw at the present time, but we very much need a win.
Could we be able to snatch one?
A 0-1, like we used to do?
It's not out of the question.

Sunderland are in worse form than us, only just though. I think we should be looking to get all 3 points,

3-1 Saha Fellaini Baines Jones
Title: Re: Sunderland vs Everton
Post by: Dublin Toffee on December 22, 2009, 10:10:24 PM
with them missing michael turner I reckon we have to score. But knowing us, they do too. 2-2 I reckon. Saha and Bily for us, Bent and Cana for them.

Post by: evertonjoe on December 22, 2009, 10:19:08 PM
I can see it being a tight game with us playing some decent stuff and winning 2-1. Goals to be scored by Saha and Billy most likely, I would like to see Coleman play rightback as a thought we lacked an attacking drive that he would have provided in the Birmingham game
Title: Re: Sunderland vs Everton
Post by: sukulpat on December 23, 2009, 01:05:22 AM
Statistically we are better than them, but actually this season, I am not feeling confident at all.
I go for 2-2      Bent - Jones, then Cahill and Saha respectively.

I'm gonna try and remain optimistic the first 20 mins v Brum was the best we've played under Moyes so for that reason alone i'm going for us to win 2-1 as well.  Same team as Verm's except Coleman at RB instead of Hibbo.

Post by: Sharky on December 23, 2009, 02:24:19 AM
Sharky thinks 2-1 to The mighty Blues from Merseyside.

i think cahill will score in a return to form match, and then when all seems like a draw imapct sub James Vaughan will come on with 15 mins to go and score a screamer to win the match.

Usual optimism from me.

We complained that we playing Birmingham while on form. We now face a very good Sunderland in horrible recent form. We must win this game. No question. I feel the past few weeks has seen us steadily improve but that will all come together over christmas/new year.
2-0 to us

Just a word of warning to anyone going. Spoke to a bloke from Middlesboro, his wife couldn't get to work this morning and there has been 5 inches in Newcastle. Might be clear by Boxing Day, but it's probably worth allowing a bit more time for the journey.

Safe journey to all going.

At this rate we'll be in the title race next year... For the championship, that is.
Come on Everton, get your arses in gear, these really are here for the taking.

We've been the better team we just can't get on the end of that final pass, sunderland won't keep making those last ditch tackles at some point they'll miss one and hopefully we can score. Still looking shaky at the back though, especially vulnerable in the air and against pace.

I've only half seen some of this half after a bit of a mishap I've had today (more of that later in general chat.....), but I'm just struck by how toothless we look when we get ourselves in to good positions.

We just don't look to have any penetration or pace when we get in to the final 3rd, and we're too slow at getting the final ball played nearly every time.  We just get there, and go sideways until we either lose it or play an awful cross in.

I'd stick Yak or Vaughan on, probably Vaughan actually.  His directness could open things up for us.

Deserved point. Can't say it should have been three because we didn't test Fulop until he had to pick the ball out of his net after Fellaini equalised.

Played some good stuff at times though. We have to beat Burnley now on Monday. Nothing less than a win isn't good enough.

Couple of tweaks for Burnley i would make.

Coleman for Hibbert, and Neville for Osman if fully fit.

Felli was a monster. We seriously have to dick Burnley on Monday though.

We need to get shots on target, either than that we were on top for most of the game.

It's not so much shots on target but delivery into the box. Our final ball and crossing was appalling. Hibbert must of hit his blocker 10 times today. Pienaar about 5 times. Baines corners always hit the first man. Billy's crossed were too long.
Better service would of meant goals. Our strikers and Cahill were giving away the niggliest of fouls for no reason.

To be honest MGP I don't think that defence is really our problem at the moment, so as good as it will be to having him back I don't think it would have made any difference to us on a day like today.

For whatever reason we just seem lethargic in the final 3rd of the pitch.  It's all very well keeping the ball well like we did but the lack of real chances that we're carving out is worrying at the moment.

Like others have said, a good result against Burnley is a must now.

Earlier in the season, Bily was taking some corners, (v Stoke all of them I think) - why does Baines take them all now ? We must of had a dozen today, but didn't look like scoring from them.

What just don't get is why we play those daft little chips forward all the time....I just think back to Coleman v Spurs, a decent delivery from the right today, instead of Hibbert kicking it against the defender could of produced a goal or two. I would just love Moyes to be asked "why?" in an interview

The reason we hit the defender so often is because we are not prepared to take it past him and cross from the line ?

Or we just do not have the ability as is the case with Hibbert.

The same Hibbert who supplied the cross for Fellaini's goal?

Hibbert can be criticized for a variety of different things but even if Coleman was playing right back I wouldn't expect him to get two or more assists from crosses.

People need to be more creative when selecting their scapegoats, getting on Ossie and Hibberts backs when neither were our poorest performer is boring.

If we were high in the table, a point at Sunderland would have been ok. We needed a win though, and once again the 3 points have eluded us.

Hibbert did have about 12-15 chances to cross the ball today. 10 of which hit the defender. I know because I counted. 1 got to Fellaini but only after a Sunderland flick on. The other crosses were aimless. I am  not getting on his back, just stating the facts. Read original post where I bl;ame Baines and Pienaar as well as Billy for the same thing.

I'd normally say that was sad, but it must have been more fun than just watching that shitty game :p

It is sad Callum but I get annoyed every game when hits the first guy. Thought I would keep a tally today for funs sake.

Indeed, but he didn't try to cross it through the defender, if memory serves me right he was in plenty of space ?

Hibbo has played for many years, how many pinpoint goal scoring crosses can anyone recall ? ( I was told, but don't know for sure he is the only regular RB in the prem never to score ?) - I agree there are parts of his game that are fine, but the better teams have full backs that assist the attacking play........just like Coleman did, albeit only in one game, but surely he is worth another punt?

I consider myself one of the more tolerent fans when it comes to players, but Hibbo was first choice RB during our better periods recently, when we had Artea to thread the ball through to him, the guy is no quitter, and admired for that, but he has too many limitations. JMO of course.

I worry that the Burnley game will be a catalyst for them, not us. We don't want to be the ones to give them their first away win of the season :(

We've been terrible everywhere. It doesn't matter where we play, you can still guarantee the lads will fuck something up. Merry freaking Christmas.

Was away yesterday and not knowing the result, watching the repeat of MOTD this morning, we seemed to be the better team, something David Moyes alluded to as well.
Not a good goal to concede.
I don't know how much of a nailbiter it was, but the equalizer fell late.

Another game we should have won but didn't?
It looks that way.

Yes. We should have won it. Anyone bored enough to work out how many silly points we've dropped this season?
