Title: Everton v West Ham United
Post by: kunal32 on March 28, 2010, 12:40:45 AM
Word is that Zola may quit the hammers tomorrow and a new manger will be in place for next Sunday. Lets hope there is no turn around for them against us.

Everton 3-0 West Ham

Saha 2, Cahill.

Should be an easy win.
Especially if Mikel Arteta is back.
But we don't know what's going to happen at West Ham this coming week.
Will Zola get the push?
Teams in a relegation battle and with perhaps another manager make things unpredictable.

If Arteta is back then it SHOULD be an easy win.  Expect Vermillion's team selection but would like Yak to start over Saha.  Saha can score a blinder but he seems a little off form for me whereas Yak seems to be coming back.

3-0

We have garnered more points from West ham than any other team. Even when we had very poor sides we always beat them. We must win this by at least 4 goals.

If we score early I see a big win, we've come out strong the last few games it's just a matter of putting our chances away and it could be a another win to help our goal difference. If not I can see a frustrating game but we will eventually break them down in a 1-0 or 2-0 victory. I can't see anything but a win for us, let's just hope we have our shooting boots on and take advantage of their situation.

I hope that we come out of the blocks quickly.

Their confidence is bound to be rock bottom so if we hit them early on, they should fall away.

Hopefully Arteta will be back, but if not I'd have Ossie in the middle and Victor on the right.

I'd like the Yak to start, but I think Saha will get the nod.

From OS

"Some of the best seats in the house have become available for Everton's clash with West Ham.

Despite the Hammers flirting dangerously with relegation, they have failed to take up their full allocation of tickets for Sunday's game at Goodison."

They deffo deserve to go down with such dreadfull support.

Can't see the employing the park the bus tactics, so we should carve them apart hopefully. Only a problem if some of their players play more fired up, but I'm not sure that will be enough to help them.

6-1

Saha (2)
Cahill (2)
Pienaar
Anichebe
Diamanti

Zola (quit)
Title: Re: Everton v West Ham United
Post by: Nabel on April 01, 2010, 07:32:22 AM
If they attack like Zola likes to, we should win easily.
If they do park the bus which i think they will do if they get an early goal, then it could be a really long night.

Post by: Thom on April 01, 2010, 05:24:05 PM
I reckon Moyes will stick with the same eleven that started against Wolves. I'd like to see Yakubu start, but I think Saha will.

3-0 to us. Saha, Cahill and Osman.
Title: Re: Everton v West Ham United
Post by: kunal32 on April 01, 2010, 07:37:46 PM
I know the Hammers are awful but it's times like these when nothing is expected off them to get anything from us that against all odds they spring a surprise a get a draw. I don't think it'll be a battering like many are predicting on here.
It'll be a lot more closer. Maybe the players will put a shift in for Zola and back his decision for not quitting.
Either way it'll be close.

2-1 Everton

They can't score for shit, so saying that they'll probably bag one. 3-1 Blues, I think ossie is due a goal and would love it if Jonny scored. He'd probably pull a knife out of his sock and stab himself in his celebration, then drink his own blood the nutter ha

Here we go, we all expect to hammer them like we expected against Wolves but we could be playing them at the wrong time. They'll basically be fighting for their manager. With Arteta out, I'm worried. Let's hope we don't frustrate ourselves and our crowd is the 12th man!

I think we'll win comfortably today, but my guess is that we'll still finish 8th.

It's been one of those 'if only' seasons again. Not really that unhappy though, bearing in mind the long injury list we've had, and our poor start.

Can't wait for next season (as always)  :)

Danny - Baines good cross from left, defender head it miles up in the air, Cahill little nod back into six yard line, Billy guides it in (header) - good goal.
Title: Re: Everton v West Ham United
Post by: cad on April 04, 2010, 10:57:57 PM
Baines crossed the ball, Upson headed it up into the air (still in the box), Tim (predictably) won the  next header...onto Bily who glanced it nicely into the net.

I thought there were spells in the first half where we played quite well but we gave the ball away many times and fortunately for us so did West Ham. But still we are battling and Pienaar, Cahill and Heitinga have done well to challenge and win the ball back. It was great to see Howard save that penalty and as a result, it galvanised the players a bit more.

Ball comes in from Baines on the left, the defender heads it but it just goes up in the air and he doesn't clear it, Cahill takes his time waiting for it to come down and basically directs it towards Bily's head, and he just nods it away from the keeper into the back of the net.

Mixed half that - some good little spells of football, but then we were pretty pedestrian at times too.

I think it was a penalty to be honest, although there was no intent he did catch him and bring him down and we were lucky as it probably should have been a red once he'd given the penalty.  Howard didn't get enough credit for the save though, Mido's penno wasn't as bad as they were making out on Sky.

Need a 2nd goal early in the half I think to take the pressure off, hopefully if that happens another couple will follow.

Post by: blargins on April 04, 2010, 11:05:36 PM
It was a pen for sure and Distin should have been sent of as he was the last player, but as it wasn't intentional, I'm glad the ref used his initiative to just brandish a yellow.

We need to up our game though, or this could end up in a draw.

Liverpool have drawn so this now becomes a must win for us although all our games are must win anyway, hopefully the lads come out all guns blazing get a second and then keep possession to save energy. Can someone describe the goal for me? I went outside and missed it :(

They will still be hard to catch. Four of their last 5 games are at home and they aren't playing anyone good apart from Chelsea.

To be fair to West Ham they seemed to have had renewed confidence, I wonder what Zola said to them at half-time. As for us, we played as if we were really missing Arteta and we gave the ball away many times. The opposition looked the hungrier team in the second half, but even then we really should have won the game.

We can't rule out finishing in the top 7, however, it's a bigger mountain to climb now and I fear our time is running out. Hopefully next season we can improve on our consistency and hopefully in the next 6 games, we don't suffer any more long term injuries.

No it was, why should we of buried them? So what if we beat manure and chelsea? This was a differrent game they're fighting for their manager and prem survival - it was a bad time to face them. You can't always play at the level we beat the top 4 teams. I for one def didn't think we'd "batter" them.

The second goal was coming and we switched off - tiem and time again we don't handle direct, long or early crosses well, no matter what the game is.

I, like you, didn't think at the beginning that we would batter them, but still I expected us to win the game by at least a goal or two. Even if West Ham are battling for survival, I thought we also had a good incentive to win as we are chasing a European cup place and on paper we should have won the game.

i watched the match on sky today and have noticed a few things, firstly yes this was a shite result, but it was all due to our own downfall. i think moyes has to take some of the blame today. i agreed to a point with the starting line up, maybe yak for saha but mainly it was ok. pienaar i thought was awful today. a lot of the ball no final creativity. he went down every other second, we dont need players like that, that gives the ball back to west ham and invites an attack. as well as that he didnt track back as much as he should have, osman was no where, i'm not one of the ones who blame him constantly because i do believe he is a good solid player, but today hardly had the ball and didnt go looking. saha is jus disinterested. heitinga was very good, solid on ball won headers, i thought jags was good as well. bily i thought was good too. looked dangerous tackled looked up for it. but yet moyes takes him off instead of pienaar or even osman when he looked dangerous. he has had hardly any game time and still managed 5 goals. thats a good achievement. baines totally solid. but if you want to blame anyone for this defeat its neville osman, pienaar or saha. simple as
