Everton FC v West Ham United
Goodison Park
Saturday 22nd November 15:00
Premier League Match #12

Everton - Premier League 14/15

Manchester United 2-1 Everton (Naismith)
Everton 3-0 Aston Villa (Jagielka, Lukaku, Coleman)
Burnley 1-3 Everton (Eto'o x2, Lukaku)
Everton 0-0 Swansea
Sunderland 1-1 Everton (Baines Pen)

West Ham United - Premier League 14/15

West Ham 2-0 QPR (O.G, Sakho)
Burnley 1-3 West Ham (Sakho, Valencia, Cole)
West Ham 2-1 Manchester City (Amalfitano, Sakho)
Stoke 2-2 West Ham (Valencia, Downing)
West Ham 0-0 Aston Villa

Everton

Everton are currently unbeaten in six matches in all competitions and have conceded just two goals in those matches. Last March, this fixture ended in a 1-0 victory for the blues thanks to Romelu Lukaku's goal. That match saw Leighton Baines grab his first assist of the 2013/14 season, he currently has 6 assists in the opening three months of the season. Everton are unbeaten in their last 12 matches against West Ham (W8 D4).

Apart from being fearful of Southampton and to put a few bets on 2-2 draws, there's not an awful lot to take from matches after international fixtures this season but Everton are one of only three teams to win both matches this season whilst their opponents for this weekend haven't lost either of their matches (W1 D1). It does slightly suggest that the teams with more international players tend to struggle after an international break.

Possible Line ups

West Ham United

West Ham are unbeaten in their last 5 Premier league matches (W3 D2) and haven't gone 6 Premier League matches unbeaten since January 2009. West Ham failed to score for just the second time this season after being unable to find a way past Aston Villa in a 0-0 draw at the Boleyn Ground. West Ham have scored more goals from headers ( 8 ) than any other side this season and have scored the most goals from outside the box (4) along with Everton

Sam Allardyce and Roberto Martinez have met several times and Allardyce is yet to beat one of Roberto Martinez's sides away from home (W2 D1). West Ham have won twice at Goodison Park (D5 L11)in the Premier League era which their last victory coming in 2005.

Stats and Injuries

Everton - Everton will be without Arouna Kone and Bryan Oviedo for this match. Gareth Barry is also expected to miss out alongside Antolin Alcaraz and John Stones. Kevin Mirallas is set to return next week. Leighton Baines, Seamus Coleman, Darron Gibson, James McCarthy and Steven Pienaar are set for late fitness tests.

West Ham United - Alex Song could miss out with a knock whilst Stewart Dowining, Winston Reid, Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia are set for late fitness tests. Guy Demel should return to the squad.

Guys. This is my first post on this site.  I am a staunch Man City fan with a close allegiance to Everton though, and I come in peace.  I married into a readymade family of Everton supporters and I have adopted you as my second team, always looking out to see how youíre doing.
Spent most of 1976 working at Cammel Lairds and whilst never got to see a game, always enjoyed chatting with Evertonians over a pint afterwards.
Used to like watching your neighbours during the 80s but soon lost any respect for  them when I had the displeasure of meeting Grobellar et all at a charity event for kids and they were disgraceful.
At the start of the year I tipped you for a CL spot and hope you prove me right. You have a great manager and a squad that many PL teams would be envious of.  Go and do what we failed to achieve against Big Samís team and start climbing the ladder and get that 4th spot.
Been a strange season so far, and apart from Chelsea, everyone just hasn't seemed to get fully going yet.  Letís hope both sets of blues can start this weekend.

Waiting to see the team before I even think of predictions. Got a sneaky feeling that Barkley might have a good game today, after the stuff with Hodgson in the week. Can imagine Martinez letting him off the shackles, to prove a point.

West Ham's line up is bizarre.

Adrian, Jenkinson, Tomkins, Reid, Collins, Cresswell, Noble, Nolan, Amalfitano, Cole, Carroll

If they're still playing a diamond then one of their centre backs will be at DM.

Adrian
Jenkinson Collins Reid Cresswell
Tomkins
Noble Nolan
Amalfitano
Cole Carroll

Crap just realised Mark Clattenburg is refereeing this game. Also is McGeady injured as well?

I hope Martinez knows what he's doing, despite the fact we have so many injuries. Can't help but think it is a very big mistake to start Osman ahead of Besic in central midfield especially against a team like West Ham.

Just because Hibbert is starting doesn't mean he is playing left back, Coleman might be there or even Distin with Hibbert at centre back (unlikely I know). Martinez sees Garbutt every day in training so I will trust his judgement, and we still have more than enough to beat these.

But Osman for Barry and freaking Hibbert for Baines?  The return of Super Kev is enough to avoid going "down the street" with a razor blade, but just barely.

Their absentees are far worse than ours and look at the replacements.

Alex Song - James Tomkins
Kouyate - Nolan
Downing - Amalfitano
Valencia - Cole
Sakho - Carroll

They've made 5 changes and have massively downgraded in three of them.

Everton pressure in last ten minutes
Get beat.

All good so far..

Just letting crosses come in at will from both sides, with Andy Carroll and Carlton Cole in the box does not normally end well.

Disjointed to say the least. Not his fault but Hibbert is literally just a body in a part of the pitch and nothing more as a LB. Not gone forward, not stopped crosses coming in, not stopped runs inside him. Would be surprised if West Ham are as bad as that 2nd half, so we need a serious rethink.

Thought Osman had a great half. Really grew into it. Problem is he hasn't got another 45 in him.

I'm liking the player McCarthy is evolving into this season. Gets forward more, showing a little creativity.

Biggest plus for me today is obviously Mirallas returning. Been in and out the game, but a couple of times has shown glimpses of pure class. As he gets fit he's going to be instrumental for us this season.

Weird half.

First few mins ok, then we were poor, then we started playing well and got the goal, then got incredibly sloppy and lucky with our possession at the back. Kinda stabilized after that but need to take a beat and get some more goals.

harsh, bd. he's not great anywhere, but as a makeshift lb he's done a reasonable job. not creative like baines, but baines isn't really about defending either...

Not his fault, the manager's (as i was reminded by glewis). The winger has gotten crosses in at will down his side, around him and through him, both the winger and full back have dribbled inside him with no trouble, and every time he's in possession he turns around and gives it back to Distin. Very strange indeed if Martinez thinks that's ok.

It looks like Mirallas has been told to not track back a la McGeady but without Barry that leaves Osman to help out Hibbert and he's not good enough defensively.

Need to shore up that left hand side, Besic for Osman needed I think. Hibbert and Osman are too slow to combine.

3 points is 3 points against a truly horrible West ham united, Allardyce personified today, only seen the second half, but they were pushing and shoving and surrounding the ref at every opportunity. Also who was that big shithouse who went down clutching his face, feigning injury, trying to get Mirallas sent off, was that there centre half ? I remember big Sam having a go at Swansea's centre half for doing much the same thing, hope Sam has the courage to pull his own player up.

Considering the amount of injuries and half fit players available, this is a very good win and I am really pleased to see some of the players step up and sounds like Osman and Lukaku had good games.

Lukaku's goal was apparently offside however a couple weeks ago against Lille, he had a perfectly good goal ruled out for offside when it was certainly not the case so...I guess sometimes these decisions will occasionally even out.

Fair play to Hibbo for this seasons performances another one today, and i used to throw up when i seen his name on the team sheet.

Mcarthy awesome again, and Ossie took his goal well.

Eto showed some class today, and Howard actually looked half decent.

Bobby to say character and phenominal 3 times each on MOTD.

We didn't play well, that's for sure, but if that's the type of football West Ham play week in-week out to get them to 4th or 5th in the league then I certainly don't expect them to be anywhere near the top 8 come May. Horrific to watch, it was like a cockney Stoke, possibly worse.

Awful game to watch - we played to West Hams strengths a lot today allowing numerous high balls to Centre Forwards, they're a big strong side and we didn't match them outside of only one of out players who was happy to be as aggressive as they were,

The amount of times we gave the ball away was ridiculous and some of the performances of our players were very poor -

I'm surprised with the high amount of positive comments for some of the players cause for me the entire midfield outside of McCarthy's energy and desire to press was poor,

The defence was not winning the headers against a target man, they were giving the ball back to West Ham frequently and were not providing options when we did have the ball (Baines missed massively)

Eto'o helped change the game (by scoreline not by performance as i don't think for any real length of time we were dominant) by keeping hold of the ball and bringing others in to play - a major pick up for Lukaku by some fans but time for those that knock him picking up on the things he's doing well but unnoticed like making great runs that our midfielders aren't seeing - Barkley the culprit for not playing him through on a few occassions today

McCarthy MOM for me without him today we would have had nobody chasing players down even Barkley got caught up in his enthusiasm and followed his lead (only a couple of times needs to up his work rate massively if he ever wants to be a centre midfielder) after West Ham equalised he made a great run and had a shot from distance (not a great one) to drive the team forward he was covering for every midfielder look at how often he was closing players down on the right or left to assist Mirallas or Barkley,

Howard had a good game with him dealing with a fair few high balls that he went for and held giving us a bit of a breather,

I'd rather not go in to some of the poor individual performances and just say it was a bad team performance and i'd include the manager in that as we didn't cope well or adjust well to the game, i'd say we actually got a bit lucky

Fuck off lad you were staying out until you got a summons off your mrs and started flapping asking everyone for taxi numbers..."if I'm not home before 7:00 I'm on the couch, again"...direct quote.

Get fucked Eddie.

Loved your black slip on shoes/white socks combo by the way, not seen anything like that since the Grafton.

Pains me to say it, but fair play to Clattenburg for playing advantage for the goal.

Why didn't he go back and book Collins for the foul? They should've been down to ten...you can't just decide to forget about the punishment just because we scored. Clattenburg struggled today I thought...but I would say that because I hate the gel head twat.

He did book collins for that but should've booked him before for his part in all the pushing and shouting etc following the McCarthy tackle. So they should have been down to ten. The advantage he played was good but he was his usual twattish self today and his assistants were poor too.

To be fair, both sides should have been down to 10 men. As much as I hate Clattenbung I thought he was equally shit for both teams today.

It was a bit longer ago than that mate. But hey, the new NSNO mugs are on order, so just like the Arteta money; they should turn up eventually.
