Title: Everton Vs Middlesborough
Post by: Thomas on September 14, 2016, 04:59:40 PM
Buzzing this is on BT Sport as that's why I subbied.  nod

So no excuses, lets keep up our solid home form and carry on with our winning run to stay high up the table.
2-0 win I reckon.

I do think sometimes playing promoted teams can be difficult however being an unknown quantity. I do think they will try to squeeze the space so being a bit narrow without out and out wingers and keeping the ball might help us. Barkley I think could do with a rest and I'd give Enner Valencia his debut so he can link up with Rom and midfield.

I'd go

                                    Stek

       Coleman             Jags         Welsh Captain       Baines

                       Gueye       Barry

                 Delboy    Valencia  Mirallas

                              Romelu

And who is Taff ? If you mean Williams ,he isn't even Welsh.

If Valencia didn't make the bench on Monday, doubt he will make the starting 11 Saturday. Bench at most.

Must start with the team that killed Sunderland off on Monday, then we have a good bench to sure things up arse end of the second half.

Barkley needs to be dropped. I want to see a reaction if he comes off the bench to try and get his place back.

Going for 3-1. GS: Lukaku, Bolasie and a Baines Pen.

Cheers @jay_2k (http://www.nsno.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=6129) - good post.

As  you said, it'd be nice to see Barkley come on and turn the game. I think he needs to come down a notch and hit the bench for 1 to 2 games.

I tried to vary the 1st XI just to get debate going/have a bit of fun because I want to see what Valencia can do. I suppose he is more tailor made for 2 up front and us playing on the break.

I'd prefer Mirallas to Bolasie and partner Kev with Delofeu.

I miss @Shogun (http://www.nsno.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=1108)'s match previews.

Watching highlights of Middlesboro at the weekend they really struggled with movement around their defenders, so I'd be starting the team that finished Monday.

Sure, I was being expiremental, but I understand @Bluedylan (http://www.nsno.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=3747) wanting to keep the side as is, to be fair that's why Leicester done so well last year using so few players.

Stek

Jags ----- Williams
Coleman ------------------------------ Baines

Gana ----- Barry
Bolasie ------------------------- Mirallas
Del Boy

Lukaku

Subs, somthing like:
Davies on for Barry
Ross on for Del Boy
Vallencia on for Mirallas/Lukaku
Holgate on for Coleman or Jags late on, etc.

Lets keep the same team shape going, and of course, continue our momentum.

The term Taff is a derogatory term for us Welsh, Thomas. Seeing as you are so into your social justice maybe you should retract the statement in calling Williams' 'Taff'. Also, it refers specifically to people from South Wales, due to the river Taff. As Williams is not from there, it is also an incorrect statement. Bit like me calling you a Manc, just because you're from up that way.

Apologies then @Brownie20 (http://www.nsno.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=169) I will change it. You know how sensitive I am towards the way people describe the Irish - and having had good friends from Wales of recent I can only extend the same courtesy.

I didn't know that was derogatory to be honest. Depends who you are. Some Irish/Scottish people call me 'Tam'. I don't mind.

Sold out now as well and only a handful of tickets left for the Palace game.

I hope we start with the 11 that began the second half at Sunderland then bring Barkley on around the hour mark and hope the lad has a stormer. We might see a bit of Valencia before he makes his full debut v.Norwich on Tues ?

Barkley tends to be a bad sub. I think he'll start with him, and try to give him a confidence boost by saying 'forget about that game now, go and play well here'.

Incidentally, we could also go top of the table on Saturday night, depending on the Chelsea result and/or goal difference.

There's bound to be some winger or midfield player who's not scored for about 18 months in their squad just itching to play us.

Was looking at Boro forum the other day, and they were saying exactly the same about us. It's amusing how many clubs think they are the ones who end people's goal droughts. Sunderland fans thought the same with Lukaku (which clearly proved to be true)

They had a very good defensive record last season and looks like it's not been too bad so far this.

But we need to make sure we use both wings again, as in the second half, as this will stretch their defence.

Not for me, can't really see how any offense could could be taken from it if in context.  It's more like Poms, yanks or kiwis etc than something universally accepted as discriminatory.    But I guess in the case of him being only player singled for his national team, I suppose there a little offense could be taken if you give enough of a fuck.  Personally I'm fuckin landed that a captain of the sheepshagers is bossing it for my boys again and to be reminded of that is a little treat ;-)

Same team that started the second half at Sunderland.

Koeman is creating competition for places but that only works if once you come in and play well - you get to start the next game.

Yeah, I loved it too. Statto! Statto!

But watching Koeman's attempts at being funny and ironic in a language he clearly didn't fully understand - just gave me the heebie-jeebies!

*Disclaimer - yes his English is better than my Dutch and probably my English as well before we have another race card played....

I suppose the issue with that applied to Monday is did Deulofeu actually play that well, individually?

I don't think he did particularly so the question is whether the team played well as it had natural balance or whether it just suited against Sunderland?

I think he'll stick with Barkley to give a him a chance to show that he's taking on board whatever coaching they're giving him.

I think there are to g's in sheepshaggers  but I understand if you are feeling all asunder with the mention of sheep

I see what you mean but I think he will give Ross a break away from the limelight to get himself together ,another performance like that could ruin him
let him really understand what they want and then come and steal the show .There has been a lot lately on his failings but not a lot on his attributes so let him recoup and show the doubters what he is about
Love him and really want to see him back to his best

Benching him won't get him out of the limelight. That will lead to a dozen articles about how he is finished.

Him playing, and putting in a solid shift will, however, put to rest this BS.

Boro always set up defensively solid, and I think they'd bite your hand off for a point, so I think this is another game where you need the first goal quite early, to open it up and to make them come out a bit, giving space for our attacking players.

I think if we go ahead first half, I can see it being a comfortable 3-0 job.

I'm hoping Koeman will be onto our lads about coming flying out first half, after the sloppy first half against Sunderland.

I think he'll start Barkley but by doing so he's giving him enough rope to hang himself after the harsh words in midweek. This'll be where Barkley has to show his mental strength as if he has another stinker and gets hauled off again it could damage his confidence quite considerably. But then again this is what makes good players great so we'll see what he's made of.

Ok it's time for someone on here to get a bit descriptive. I'm trying to follow the match on here and most of ye are nuts!!

Long ball in from Bolasie, keeper comes out to challenge Big Rom who shakes his foot at the ball, which bounces into the net.

Lee Mason is genuinely a cunt. How could the Forshaw tackle not be a yellow, and Barry's block be one?

Anyway, we're seeing a completely different Barkley today, things may not always be going for him, but his willingness to work hard is a big bonus.

I mean, it went in BECAUSE Rom came out for it, and the keeper overreacted to the danger of his presence, I suppose.  But he didn't touch the ball.

That's not entirely true, had they both jumped for the ball and Negredo's body slammed into Stek's, that'd be fair enough. But seeing as he actively headed his arm, that's a foul any day of the week.

You're confusing the rules with the way Mason tries and fails to apply them. Heading the goalkeeper's arm while he's got control of the ball is a foul by the rules, no matter how blind the referee happens to be.

Because of the foul it's given an opportunity to scrutinise the keeper. He caught the ball cleanly and was fouled.

Vastly.  Not even close, and accounting for positional difference.

I think I might wait for a few games before I judge Enner Valencia rather than getting on his back 15minutes into his debut and writing him off

I am going to make a call on Idrissa Gana Gueye though

I like how my attention has wandered all half.  I totally assumed we would see this one out and ascend into 2nd position in the table.  Not one worry about a bottle job entered my feeble brain.

Some sloppy play resulted in us not really killing that game off.

2 winnable games next in Bournemouth and Palace, lets try and keep this going.

Good solid win.

Barkley and Gueye seem to have a nice understanding developing as do Bolase and Lukaku and Jags and Williams. All coming together very nicely so far.

Also what more can you say about Garth Barry, he's been a great buy and just seems to show no signs stopping.

That's why Webb said we're the hardest ground to ref at... one mistake and the fans go mental and get right up for it.

And I was fuming as much with the BT knobheads saying it was a good goal as with Mason. What are they doing having a Reds fan commenTating and an ex-Red pundit (Mcmanna) on an EVERTON GAME ???

Mirallas hasn't been right since he went off to Belgium for the international break.

Damn you Martinez!

A bit harsh. Thought he was really great second half against Sunderland when he went into the middle. He was really creative, and his through ball to Lukaku was the pass of the season so far.
