Title: Everton vs Spurs
Post by: evertonjoe on January 02, 2011, 06:16:15 PM
Would like to see this team:

Howard

Neville Jagielka Distin Baines

Coleman Osman Fellaini Pienaar

Anichebe Beckford

Everton 5:3 Spurs

I see this as a draw or spurs win.

Just find it hard to see us beating teams like this with no Cahill.

Tragically I think hte team will be

                Howard

Hibbert  Jagielka  Distin  Baines

Coleman  Arteta  Neville  Pienaar

                 Fellaini

                  Saha

If Pienaars still an Everton player, otherwise Arteta on the left, Osman in the middle and Billy coming on the in 93rd minute.

If moyes plays Fellaini as second striker I will shit in a bag and post it to him. Im starting to lose patience with him and that would be the proverbial straw for me.

I think he'll play osman in the hole and stick with his 3-7-1 formation that hes used lately.

Would like to see...

Howard

Coleman       Jags          Distin        Baines

Fellaini

Bilya                 Osman                  Pienaar

Anichebe

Beckford

Don't expect to see anything than what we saw against Stoke though with Osman or Anichebe coming in for Cahill.

Agree would like to see this team, but I'm not expecting it.  Arteta is really out of form and putting him on the bench may force him to pull his socks up.  Beckford really deserves a run of starts in the team, Saha and Yak have both had a run so surely he should be given a chance.

I'm looking forward to seeing a team with pace and attacking intent at Goodison for once.

That is when our posession football will come into its own. Everyone else just comes to GP and plays a flat back 4 with a deep defensive line and a dedicated defensive midfielder to nullify us and hopefully nick one on the counter. At least spurs will get out of their own half and leave us space at the back to exploit.

---ramos-------hibbert------pujol-----evra-------
----robben----xavi----sneidjer-----di maria-----
-----------ronaldo-------------messi----------

but this is moyes so messi and ronaldo will be defending most of the games, so 2 nil to spurs

3-1 everton, we dont stuggle against teams that play open football,

I think we'll see

Neville  Jags  Distin  Baines
Coleman  Rodwell  Felli  Pienaar
                Beckford/Arteta
                 Saha/Beckford

would like to see bily given a chance as SS, maybe he'll get more than 3 mins... personally id drop arteta or lob him on the right
Title: Re: Everton vs Spurs
Post by: Thom on January 02, 2011, 09:59:22 PM
Moyes seemed to be under the impression that Saha played well yesterday, and unless he thinks Coleman needs a rest then I think we'll see Rodwell replacing Cahill as the only change.

Again, be arsed making a prediction. Spurs play openly, so there will be space to exploit, but we're so low on confidence I can't see us keeping a clean sheet. There will be goals though.

I hope moyes keeps faith in his boring tactics for this one. They clearly don't work against teams like stoke and west ham, but we will need to slow down the game if we've got any chance against spurs. 4-4-2 would be a disaster!

If Coleman isn't fit I'd like to see Bily on the left and Pienaar on the right. I hope Arteta doesn't start and that Heitinga is fit to play or Hibbert will get bummed by Crouch/Pav.

Jags is out for two games.

Howard

Neville (c)
Distin
Hibbert
Baines

Fellaini
Osman
Arteta
Pienaar
Coleman

Anichebe

- Not the team I'd put out,  but  if it is anything but that from Moyes then I'd be shocked.

Hopefully Heitinga can make it, Hibbert does a decent job for a fullback, but there's only so much he can do against players like Crouch.

As for the rest of the team, I like the idea of us matching Palacios, Modric and Van der Vaart with Fellaini, Arteta and Pienaar, like for like really. Pienaar's movement and willingness to get on the ball should open up more passing options and give us something different. Osman coming into the team wouldn't be a bad thing either.

Wonder if moyes will play Hibbert at RB and Neville at RM to go up against Bale if he does we may aswell throw in the towel now,

if Colemans out i'd like Arteta out there and Rodwell and Fellaini CM,

If Johnnys leaving this Jan i would like to see him start as a final farewell, most when they know they're off have a good game - lescott not included
Title: Re: Everton vs Spurs

I'd be surprised if he didn't start with saha again! Arteta will play more forward like against west ham, and osman will come in for coleman if injured. Shame because neville and coleman did a really good job on bale last time. 1-1 crouch and pienaar, it will be his goodbye present for everton, then he'll be on the spurs bus back!

What are you on about, Optimistic Blue?

Everton, our football club, ALWAYS release the team sheet for the match an hour before the match starts. Bally posted that first eleven that will play Spurs tonight i.e. the team that is to play Spurs in ten minutes.

Actually, I'm not surprised this is hard for you to comprehend. You're the guy who was 100% certain that Beckham was joining West Ham, weren't you?

Anyway, thanks for cheering us all up as, hopefully, it'll help us relax before we play. We are playing tonight, aren't we? Y'know, with that team Moyes picked and that bally posted? lolol

Cant believe Moyes is going with 4-4-2, i just hope we start fast and play well and give it a go cos if we don't you know he will revert to his favoured 4-5-1 straight away cos he never gives anything else a proper chance!.

Hopefully with just the 2 central midfielders, Arteta will get forward and more involved instead of sitting deep and hopefully Beckford and Saha link up well and work and either of em get us the goals to give us the win.

Yahoo report team as:
EVERTON TEAM NEWS: John Heitinga makes the starting XI after recovering from a knee complaint, replacing the crocked Phil Jagielka, while Jermaine Beckford steps in for Tim Cahill, who is on Asia Cup duty with Australia. Otherwise all the same from the team that lost at Stoke on New Year's day.

Is this correct ?

We haven't done too bad, were struggling abit with Crouch and van der Vaart but who hasn't and i really do want Beckford to do well but when you see him do the things he's doing tonight and missing like he is then it is hard to see him making any impact at us.

Arteta is playing a bit better but got sloppy a bit towards the end and Saha is frustrating me with always turning into trouble when he holds up the ball and he was at fault for there disallowed goal and Pienaar needs to sort his through balls out, too many of them are going astray.

We need to start just as quickly this second half and then take it on further cos Spurs always look a threat and can get goals so we need to see them off if possible, hard task when you don't score enough goals like us but ya never know, hopefully we can win this and win at the weekend and go into the derby with more confidence a bit of self belief!.

Priceless three points, and a superb team performance. Not one bad performer on our side out there tonight.

However, it counts for nothing if we don't beat Scunthorpe and Liverpool, and build on it. We need to beat the teams around us now in the league to push up out of the fight at the bottom.

Fucking brilliant!A more worthy match winner than Seamus Coleman today you are not likely to see.  That lad has balls of steel! All round today though we were excellent.  Saha and Arteta clearly must have realised they had been playing below standard as both were excellent tonight.  Distin amazing again, Pienaar gave it his all, if he does end up leaving then he can hold his head high as he deserves as much money as anyone at Everton for the amount of hard work he puts in, let alone the fact that he is pure class.  And once again Marouane Fellaini was absoloute magic

Beckfords no Messi but people need to see what he does off the ball.  He makes some clever runs which leaves space for other players and we look less static with him there.  Iv'e said before and i'll say again, when he plays we create chances (even if he's upfront on his own).  When he doesn't we dont look like creating anything.

Agree. We desperately needed some pace and effort up front- even with some poor looking mistakes he's due credit if you ask me. The contribution on the 2nd was obvious although he got the weight on the pass wrong. The first goal he contributed on by making a run into the area forcing Dawson to cover him and creating a little more space than Saha would have had if he were playing upfront alone.

It was before that.

Pienaar "tapped" the ball back for someone else to take the free kick, VDV took it the ball was in play and lobbed Howard. Luckly the ref called it back. It was similar to Torres against Sunderland which was given.

We were lucky that Probert was having a shit night.

I'm just glad we did well and was positive and got the result by playing 4-4-2, normally when he changes it and gives it ago we play shite and he reverts back to his old ways Moyesy of playing 4-5-1 straight away but we was good tonight.

Did anyone notice that for 70+ mins tonight when Heitinga was marking Crouch he didn't get no joy what so ever and Crouch won the lot and then after that when Spurs was going long we put Distin on him and he won fuck all after, that's who should of been on Crouch the whole game!. Maybe if Distin was then Crouch wouldn't of won the 1st header or it wouldn't of been Distin ball watching as van der Vaart came in behind to head in.

Apart from that we was solid and did get at Spurs alot, Coleman was great but he really does need to get his head up more when he gets in the positions he does, twice he got in and picked the wrong option and if he hadn't we could of been out of sight but well played to him for the goal!.

And im pleased for Saha for getting his goal and im glad we had 2 up front but Saha was still frustrating me a bit tonight when in position, why does he always usually run in to trouble instead of running into space or releasing the ball to team mates in better positions?. Beckfords movement and running was good to see and made alot of space for the likes of Saha and Coleman to run into but in the early parts of the game he was showing league one quality, his touch and awareness wasn't all that and his efforts on goal was snatched at but towards the end of his game his hold up and link up play improved but his movement and how he creates space for others is an asset and we do create from that and he does have a great knack of being in the right places and will get the odd goal cos of that.

Lets take it game by game now and hopefully we can kick on and start to really move up the table, we all did well tonight and deservedly beat a good Tottenham side and that should give us a much needed confidence boost ahead of this weekend and the up and coming derby!.

Special shout out to Heitinga in defense. We were more composed, passed better from defense and looked for the long ball less.

Great to see so much positivity on here after reading some pretty depressing posts in the past few days!this season has been pretty bad so far but this was a great performance tonight from the whole team, lets just hope we can maintain the form from tonights game for the rest of the season.  Was a bit shocked to hear Hansen on match of the day say that he thought spurs edged the first half tho!i thought we edged the first half and steamrolled the 2nd!...actually come to think of it, it was Alan Hansen and he does tend to love giving us zero credit!

please see 'that's the Everton I love' thread.

I'm delighted with the result and the performance, just saying we got a little luck there.

It was Crouch

I think we got more lucky with the chance he missed in the 2nd half from 6 yards out when he put it straight at Howard

It was before that.

Pienaar "tapped" the ball back for someone else to take the free kick, VDV took it the ball was in play and lobbed Howard. Luckly the ref called it back. It was similar to Torres against Sunderland which was given.

We were lucky that Probert was having a shit night.

And yet it pains you so much to post something positive for a change you have to have a sly negative in there.

Who was picking up Van der Vaart? He seemed to roam free wherever for the highlights I've seen so far.  With Fellaini and Arteta both just looking at him run...

I think he was the extra man in the midfield though.  If you play 4-4-2 there is always going to be one.  VDV was very good last night, fortunately as a team we were much better.
