Title: Tom Davies "proud" of personal display against Bournemouth
Post by: SANA_DR0 on September 25, 2017, 01:08:11 AM

Everton midfielder Tom Davies has admitted that he was delighted to make an impression against Bournemouth after being left "disappointed" by Ronald Koeman's decision to leave him on the bench form the start.

The 19-year-old produced a game-changing contribution when introduced 55 minutes into the match with his side a goal down, playing a part in both goals - scored by Oumar Niasse - as the Toffees prevailed 2-1.

Davies, who featured for the full 90 minutes of the EFL Cup win over Sunderland in midweek, is happy with his own personal display at Goodison Park on Saturday and hopes that a message has now been sent out.

"I was disappointed not to start, so when I came on I wanted to make an impact and I feel like I have done that," he told the club's official website. "When I came on I thought it was hard but felt I got myself into the game, and all the lads really supported me.

"I knew it was important to get the support to the forwards and in the end it paid off. It is always good to be involved with the goals and to get an assist and maybe half an assist... I am proud of my performance.

"It was good movement and good build up play for the first goal. I was in the middle of the pitch and Oumar made a great run. It was a great first touch by him as well, so I cannot take all the credit he did a lot after my pass!"

England Under-21s international Davies has started three games in the top flight so far this season, while also being brought off the bench on three occasions.

Top lad and top player, should be first on the sheet, barring a disaster will be a great.

Our best CM ay the moment. No idea how Klaassen is in the team ahead of him and that should change quickly. We desperately need a player who can carry the ball forward and drive at the defence from deep.

Showed how much of a nuisance he was at UTD, he was breaking stuff up as it started, they created much more after he went off, for me it was him who gave us a prayer in that game.

Already a good player and seemingly a great lad, still don't need him getting the attitude he 'deserves' to play, he should be thankful for any chance he gets and bust his balls to perform.

This is regardless of whether he is right or not, of course I want him to be playing ahead of certain others too but I don't want the idea going to his head!

I really like his desire and belief, He knows he's better than some of the others, also like his humbleness, giving credit to Niasse for making the run/control and the finish

Agreed on that, however he needs to cut out the 'disappointed not to start' chat and remember where a brothers' ass is at. Namely he's still a junior and there is nothing wrong with that!

Streets ahead of his own age group same as Rooney was.

He's a confident lad and it comes out in his interviews and on the pitch, I don't think it's a negative. I can imagine a young Wayne Rooney coming out with similar, they're cut from the same cloth and as others have said, both ahead of their peers in the same age group.

Fair, yet I would have said the same if Rooney had got pig-headed towards Moyes back in the day. It is not the place of a youth player to be complaining about team selection in quite that manner, if they say something like "I'm pleased to play today because I like to think I always have something to offer" is a lot different to the 'expecting' to be picked kind of statements.

Both ahead of their age group, honestly I think the latter match was Davies first great game this season so I'm not on that bandwagon either :) (2nd if you count the mackems)

If he weren't jarred off at not playing there would be something wrong.

I kind of get the feeling the sheer number of young lads in the 1st team squad now gives them the collective confidence to want and expect to be playing a part most weeks. I like it.

Hope we shoehorn as many as possible in...

Start him in place of Gana and we might see more tooth in our attacks.

Love the kid, though he's getting the usual hyperbolic praise we love to shower on our youngsters. He hadn't hit his best form this season until Bournemouth - was poor when he started against Chelsea and Utd, probably why he was dropped. Hopefully he pushes on from here.

We played 3Cm's few times in pre season but he never really went back to it which is odd.

If we did do 3 CM's then one benefit would be having Davies and Gana going up and down.

Problem is you lose your 10/AM then so not sure where Rooney, Sig or Klaassen play unless he one of them drops into Davies/Gana's place.

Not his best performance tonight but, despite nothing coming off for him, he worked hard and he wanted to get on the ball whenever he could. He doesn't shirk his responsibilities, even when he's not playing well. It's hard to bet against someone with that sort of attitude.

I hope Koeman doesn't hold the off-night against him because Davies has still earned the right to start, in my opinion.

Edit: Don't fuck with Tom Davies.
