Pienaar, Arteta, Yak & Cahill to name a few.

David Moyes likes this.

I reckon he's watching this right now, just sat there in his cardigan and a pair of old Everton slippers, guzzling a chang, smoking a lambert & butler blue, muttering under his breath "...fucking Moshiri, fucker, I''l show ya, ya wee shite..."

Odds on he'll go after Baxter, Mirallas, Jagielka, and Baines, come January?

Nah, some great days and nights there, some quality moments.  Not going to start on him, could have been anybody, could have been better, could have been worse.  Funny old game indeed.

Love that Cahill goal against Newcastle, what a moment that was.

think my favourite Cahill goal was the other head kick against Chelsea, (if i recall correctly) ball was blasted across and he some how managed to over head kick it in..was in the last few minutes..

Especially given we'd already beaten eventual winners Zenit in the group stage and would have fancied us to beat PSV in the next round and put Rangers away without a second leg needed

Yes, love Tricky's goal. What a luxury it was to have a speedy winger who could shoot with both feet. Two of the best headed goals I ever saw scored by Gray, although strangely I have no recollection of either of their disallowed goals. I think 4 - 3 would have been a fairer score having seen them again.

Went to my first Everton game in 1991. I think this is right up there as one of, if not the best team performance of that era. Beat Newcastle at home a few days later too and Amokachi scored another two, a great week to be a Blue.

Also the inspiration behind the t-shirts the fanzine has had done. ;)

My favorite might have been the 2-1 win over spurs.  Down a goal going into stoppage time, then Pienaar scores followed by Jelavic a minute later.  What a feeling that was!

I was watching that game with a Tottenham fan and said to him well played just before Pienaar scored and then said fair result a draw and then had to say unlucky when Jelavic scored. He was not happy and to be honest, even though he is a mate, I could not help but laugh at him when the final whistle went.

A decade where he had to consistently sell his/our best players, the years we could have 'kicked on' we needed to invest but we didnt. when we did invest all the players that would have made a difference where already bought, i'm sure most them seasons we needed to invest, we where waiting on loans before investing... blaming Moyes for not winning trophies during his tenure is short sighted i feel, his hands where pretty much tied when he was here.

Moyes did a great job of saving us from relegation and turned us into top 8 regulars, but I think that's as far as he could take us. Pochettino is doing a similar job at Spurs now, with similar financial constraints (albeit on a grander scale because of the finances of the league now) and has Spurs regularly in the top four and challenging. I'm not for a minute suggesting that's what Moyes should have had us doing but his mentality was all wrong in terms of taking the next step. We were always "knife to a gun fight" when we ourselves had quality players. With Arteta, Fellaini, Pienaar, Baines, Cahill etc, we could have done more with the right mentality. I think that best of the rest mentality lives on at the club to this day.

WHAT.THE.FUCK!
you are saying spurs had the same financial constraints as us? fuck me, yeah Moyes has his limitations, but to say spurs were on a similar financial footing as us is a ridiculous statement as i have ever heard.

I wish this constant sniping at him would end, he has gone, we have moved on, sadly not forward or upward. but give it a rest ffs.

I said Pochettino is working with similar constraints, relative to the market at the time, in terms of transfer fees and wages. Spurs are probably not in the top 10 spenders in terms of net spend over the last four or five years and we weren't under Moyes when we were signing the likes of Fellaini for £15m. I'm not "sniping" at Moyes as I clearly said he did a good job initially, but we were never going to take that next step with him telling our players they were knives in a gun fight. Quick to jump on me. Should we all accept 7th or 8th is the best we'll ever do?

Loved watching Pat Nevin, when he played like this and I also liked that kit.

Still one of the best pundits around as he doesn't sensationalise things.

I'm not too sure myself tbh.

Mates just sorted it and I'm always happy to go along to this type of thing.

I know Graham sharpe, mountfield and Mick Lyons are there.

Think it may be something organised by Liverpool heritage.

On this day in 1928...Dixie got his hat trick to secure the record 60 league goals for the season. A season we had won 3 days before.

Today, we have yet to hit 60 shots on target for the season....

Sorry mate - Bored, been sitting here since 7am waiting for a parcel that I paid to have delivered yesterday and have now been advised that it won't come until 4pm at earliest. I have been refunded the delivery charge but not happy.

Blow up doll?

Rather boringly a kettle and two bags of compost.

If it was a sex doll, it might explain the delay but not for the above named items.

I will try to post more positive Everton memories from now on - the current situation is bad enough.

Itís 52 years ago today that Everton beat Sheffield Wednesday in that memorable final. Donít know if this will come out right but here are my memories framed in a way that reminds me of how the football world has changed Ė a very unfamiliar world to younger readers of the forum!
Itís hard to describe just how big an occasion it was then. It was 33 years since we were last in the final so the first time in my lifetime. Wembley was just a dream for most fans, many never ever went there let alone with their own team. Cup finals were major national events riddled with tradition, the Queen usually went but this time it was Princess Margaret. Papers were full of it for over a week before the game.
We lived in Macclesfield and my Dad got two tickets somehow but not together. In those days touts made fortunes selling tickets from back street hideaways in the weeks before and that always made the papers. My preparations started over a week before making decorations for the car. If it was blue, white and silver and could be made into something then it got nicked! Posters, ribbons, rosettes, scarves Ė something for every window and external bit of car that could take string or sellotape. I spent two hours the night before attaching it all, my pride and joy being a large silver replica of the cup for the back window.
It was an early start on the Saturday (5 or 6am?) because it was a long trip. The M6 only went as far as Staffordshire so after that it was the A5 all the way. The early hours and loads of cars in a steady stream all, it seemed, full of Evertonians and that was before we cleared Staffordshire. Every place we passed where people could rest or stop for a drink was full of scousers.
Then Wembley. It looked  magnificent with the twin towers, the steps and Wembley Way. It was magic Ė Iíd never even been to London before. We parked on the main car park and my mum who hadnít got a ticket stayed with the car and when Princess Margaret arrived she drove right past her as she stood on her own and she got her own personal wave.
Around the stadium the atmosphere was electric, people asking for tickets, trying to climb into the ground via the windows on the stair wells and everyone wearing plastic blue and white hats that had obviously been given out free somewhere. And the noise Ė Iíd never been in a crowd like that.
Canít remember much about getting in but once in I had a seat, it was a long continuous wooden bench with the number painted on it between two lines - the width of the seat. Abide with Me was totally respected and sung by everyone with a military band playing it and the national anthem on the pitch. Memories of the game are sketchy but I was in the corner by that second tunnel where they brought equipment in and out so was quite close when Alex Young Ďscoredí the equaliser only for it to be given offside. I remember feeling totally empty when they got their second and it seemed all over. Our goals were scored at the other end, got excited when Trebilcock scored the first but it still seemed a long way back. Then the second went in and the noise was deafening. Eddie ran on the pitch and there seemed total mayhem. From then on it was incessant chanting and then Derek Temple got the ball off Gerry Young and I can see him running away from me towards the goal, it was like slow motion and lasted for ages and then the ball hit the net. I canít remember even getting up but I was suddenly aware of being stood on the seat just screaming- donít even know what. From then to the end it was just noise louder than anything Iíd heard before and then it was over. Brian Labone a distant figure holding the cup up, the chant, over and over again, of ĎWeíve won the cup, weíve won the cup, ee aye addio  weíve won the cupí.
Itís still the best moment of watching football Iíve ever had and nothing will come close to it again. Next day I read and re-read every thing I could find about the game. I couldnít get to Liverpool to see them come home but there was a 30 minute programme on the TV about it, a quarter of a million estimated to have lined the streets, but all in black and white then.
Itís been a lousy season this time around but itís moments like that that remind me why I still go. I still want more of it.

Great memories there Shropshire Blue, unfortunately the youth of today will never ever experience anything like that, thatís just priceless and they are there with their phones and I pads at the games will just never know what itís like to be on the terraces unable to move with the swaying to and fro you would never know where your going to end up. Great read thanks for sharing that.

In the sanitisation of Heysel by the media and the general arse licking that surrounds Liverpool - it is deliberately forgotten that we were denied the chance to win the proper European cup. The team of the 85/86 season, with the spearhead of Lineker and Sharp and the best goalie in the world at that time in Big New, would have in my opinion won that year.

It was the beginning of the end of that glorious team as I doubt Mr Kendall would have left to ply his trade at Bilboa. All conjecture now but that night along with the semi against Bayern are still my best memories as an Evertonian.

Just rewatched our game v.Spurs from 2012/13 where we scored twice in extra time to win 2-1 and go 4th.  Pienaar , Osman and Darron Gibson (!) at their best. Siggurdsen hit the bar for Spurs.
The only survivors of that day are Coleman ,Jagielka and Baines .....and Mirallas if he still counts.
But how good was that Moyes team ?
