Title: Everton v Atalanta
Post by: Cereal Killer on November 20, 2017, 03:50:28 PM
Almost forgot we still have some European games to drag ourselves through!

Anyone going?

Will we throw a second string team out? I'm hoping so!

                 Robles
Holgate Keane Williams Martina
              Beni Besic
Vlasic       Klaassen     Mirallas
                 Sandro

I'd go with that, if Unsy puts any of the mission critical first choices out there and they pick up an injury then he should be sacked the following day !

There's a few players who need some minutes, but confidence is a big one. Another drubbing by these isn't going to help.

                 Robles
Holgate Keane Williams Martina
                  Beni
           Davies Klassen
Lookaman                      Vlasic
                Sandro

Tough group too be fair. Lyon and Atalanta are really good teams. We shouldn't of got bummed the way we did, but certainly no easy wins there.

Coming into the new season after the way we finished last season, the signings we'd made and the prospect of Giroud signing I genuinely thought we could go all the way in this competition and we end up with a Koeman sitting in his villa on the Algarve with another £10 million quid in his back pocket ! Hope Niasse goes on to score double figures and make him look like a bigger twat than he is !

We should at least have been capable of beating a side from Cyprus at home, had we done that we would still be in contention.

This is only streaming (ESPN3) in the US, but it's right after I drop the only kid who's with me off at work, and I will have the house to myself.  NFL on the teevee box, Everton beside me on the work laptop, complaining on NSNO on the home laptop.  Old man recluse perfection.

I was in the auto cup scheme but opted out, don't see the point in it, you can pay for your ST seat in advance of it going on general sale, anyway for you it will count as an away credit which as an ST holder with a couple of credits you stand a good chance of getting an F.A. Cup final ticket when we get to Wembley .......yay !

..............Yes I posted this ages ago. As you say what's the point when you get a window to claim your seat anyway. The only time we'll get to Wembley this season is when we play Spurs.

As pointless as it may seem to you, we still have players that need game time and a manager to look at further options, this is why it isn't pointless, oh and its Everton too, In my 45 years of watching us I've never turned my back on the club, no matter how shit we have played or how pointless the match and I don't intend to start now.

It'd be getting absurd not to give game time to some of these players. I'm glad Sandro got a look in the other day, and to a degree it is better to not bring them in all at once but we can't keep putting them so far off into the sidelines they don't even make the bench just because Unsworth is unfamiliar with them.

See this is what gets screwed up - Unsworth has a reputation to try to build so from his point of view it makes sense to start the strongest team. There are also moral reasons too - it's fair to other teams in the group, and to fans who turn up. But for Everton it's the wrong thing, unless it's simply hollow words to appease UEFA.
Title: Re: Everton v Atalanta
Post by: Escla on November 23, 2017, 01:39:55 PM
Unsworth has just said he will be picking the strongest possible team for this game.

He didn't say that at all, why are you making this up ?  His exact words were " I will be picking A strong team" NOT THE STRONGEST TEAM ! He said "a team that WE FEEL IS THE RIGHT TEAM" the "right" team
may well include Sandro,Besic,Klaasen etc. He's hardly likely to say we're going to rest everyone and give all the kids a run out then get fined by UEFA for giving Atalanta an unfair advantage over Lyon.

Daily Mail reporting on "brawl" saying Allegedly between football fans, not as yet confirmed" Great P.R. For the city, bound to make national news, if I were the owner of any of those clubs involved I would be having a serious word with their bouncers today and certainly one or two dismissals, some of them clearly no better than the original aggressors especially the one who picks up a guy and throws him with a full body slam onto a concrete floor, could easily have killed or crippled him, hope he is arrested and charged.

The bouncers need have done nothing more than hold them off untill the police arrived, they were round they would have been there in minutes if they had called them instead of jumping into it.

Just realised they weren't fighting each other (Germans/Italians) they were fighting together, some sort of Ultra alliance, thank god we don't have this ultra shit in this country.

Not anymore I believe but wasn't so long ago rival 'firms' would join up to take on rival 'firms' at home and abroad etc etc.

Ask Danny Dyer. Its all his fackin fault!

Mussolini & Hitler had a pact as well like.

Turned it off, sucking the life out of me watching 11 players who are only playing because they have too.

I'm starting to worry about this club.

Koeman has been sacked for what now feels like forever, our approaches have seen Rumours of 3 bang average managers where the board seem totally clueless that there are indeed managers outside of the premiership.

January seems ages away I just hope Niasse can bounce a few in off his arse until then.

'They've made it easy for me to leave them out'

Everton 1-5 Atalanta

Everton caretaker boss David Unsworth has had the unfortunate task of picking apart that defeat to the media.

Wayne Rooney provided Everton caretaker manager David Unsworth with a ringing endorsement after the match.

"There's been a change of manager, it's been a positive change I believe in terms of performances, tonight aside," Rooney said on BT Sport.

"You can see that on the pitch. We have to keep trying to pick up points in the Premier Legaue and try and climb up the league.

"It's down to the board. That's their decision, since David Unsworth has come in there has been a great atmosphere amongst the players, some positive results and the players are enjoying day-to-day training, so the board have got a decision to make and I am sure they are working on it."

Doesn't seem to show this on the pitch though Wayne, I feel if Unsworth stays in charge we are going down. Not his fault, he didn't create this clustering, he is sadly far too out of his depth to sort it out.

First time in 30 years supporting Everton that I have turned off the TV.  This shite makes you yearn for the Martinez days lol. Happy Thanksgiving by the way.

Couldn't be arsed to turn it on. Went for a walk and got chatting to a nice bird at the lawyers office instead and she's gonna help me with my divorce at low cost. Thanks Everton. Love you!

Watching that tonight the problems now look so enormous I dont think any manager can fix them in the short-term.

I will be amazed if we're not relegated.

The club is rotten from top to bottom.

The sad part is that i'm not even disappointed as it was expected.

The club went to the dogs long long ago.

I can't see us surviving with Rhino at the helm.  If that is Rooney's idea of a great atmosphere between the players who are enjoying training, he's taking the piss isn't he?!?

Unsworth means well and he clearly loves the club but that isn't enough.  It's a job, not an ideology.  I can't imagine him being able to attract the players we need to stay up.

We need a proven manager, someone who can turn things around in a short space of time and they need to be given £150m at least to spend in January.  At the same time, offload the crap.  Take a loss if we have to and just accept it as a dark part of the club's history.

Problems solved.  Premier league survival, champions league qualification, FA Cup win, League cup win, new stadium, 100% capacity each week, best pitch, best home/away/third kit, best pies, Best of the Best DVD (staring Eric Roberts) on sale in the club shop...

Nurse I need another hit please.

Something is definitely fucked up badly at Everton, I actually wonder if there is a manager out there that can fix it this season.

I wondering if there is one who really even wants to TRY.

Anyone who attends this even if they already have a ticket is the worst kind of mug fan and you deserve everything you get.

This game is even more pointless than a pre season friendly , I would rather eat a plate of dog muck than go

Proven correct again

Why people attend this game I have no idea, if you support crap you endorse crap

Would have been a far better message to Moshiri if the ground was completely empty (away end the exception)

I am going to attempt to play this down, probably to no avail.

But this was a pointless game, with nothing to play for, and with 9 changes to the team. Yes the performance was absolutely terrible, but it actually means nothing in the context of our season. Nothing.

What does mean something is Southampton (a). Avoid defeat here and we are then a huge 3 games unbeaten in the league. Unbelievable stuff.

Get your heads up, and move on.

Which is great. The reality is though if we play like that all season we'll go down. If palace play like that all season (if we started again) they'd win the league
Performances generate results in the long term. Them results were just a fluke. Great for us but zero reason for optimism

The other way of looking at is we have been playing like that all season so far and we aren't even in the relegation zone. So if we pick even slightly and look like some kind of team with a small bit of organisation then we will move away from those teams.

Not hiding from how bad we look especially last night though and it isn't easy to just turn performance levels around which is why it is even more baffling he hasn't gone with solid first lineups most of the he has been in charge for.

I think Unsworth should have a clear idea about who doesn't even make the bench on Sunday . The players were a disgrace last night and his and anyones job is going to be made difficult by the fact . I wish he would just play 4-4-2 even if that means leaving players out of this disjointed mess . Even if he only has one game left stick to a formation for the whole game and don't change it . Its too easy to say last night meant fuck all ( to the payers anyway ) because it means something to us to get smashed at home . I am not sold on Silva but I will take him as like Super Kev said last night it gives stability . Unsworth I son a tightrope from week to week and it just isn't fair to leave him in the firing line while the board dither .
