Title: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

I don't believe it but I'm posting it as it makes me smile to see our name, his name and £60m mentioned in an article. Imagine this a few years ago

Briefly convinced myself this was possible in the last window.

Listen the club isn’t in GREAT shape, we think and hope there is better to come but it does feel a bit like we missed our chance. Might have a hard time convincing players to join the “project” of Big Sam finishing 10th...which is why we need some greedy bastard to just take the money.

If this is possible we should do it. Even if he is a pace merchant with attitude issues who’s best years are behind him (sorry @kramer0 (http://www.nsno.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=4360) that idea is probably enough to make you log off for the evening) it would be our ‘Robinho’ moment imo.

Sick of these type of rumours.

No chance of this happening.

Is this really the best Steve Walsh can come up with?

I don't think this is what he's coming up with.

Maybe he's kicking the tires, which he should be, but I'm pretty sure that's all he's doing.

Let's spend the first 30 days of the January window chasing this guy so that there's no risk of getting anyone realistic and decent in.

The thing that I find more unbelievable about this is the price quoted, in a world where Neymar goes for 185 million, or there abouts, same for Mbappe, why would Dortmund let one of the most prolific strikers in World football go for 60?

He was in his mid 50's though, not the prime of his career like Aubameyang

Not happening for obvious reasons.

I read an interview with him recently and it was about his close relationship with his Dad, who’s also his agent. He talked about how his Dad has planned every step of his career since he was 5 years old. His Dad wants Real Madrid next...

Isn’t it probably still the other type of striker we are after anyway?the big beast?the hold up merchant to help link the play, provide the aerial threat and tutor DCL and Hornby

Henry and Niasse as the pace merchant/goal getters?

If Aubameyang was interested in coming here there's no way we'd not be interested too.  You don't ignore that kind of quality because you've already got lesser players that play the same way!

That said, it's a ludicrous rumour and I'm getting a bit sick of this sort already.  How on earth does anyone think that he'd come to us with all the possible destinations that he would have?

A typo is a very common thing these days but to have a whole article is indeed rare, if not unheard of. How did they manage to type Aubameyang/Everton/60million without noticing the error?

Not sure that there’s that many options given that he was supposedly up for sale in the summer and no one took him.

Still think there’d be clubs in between Madrid etc and us in for him.

But he’s had attitude issues which might be putting people who can afford to be picky off.

His stock has definitely fallen.

The new breed of Leipzig etc. Won’t want him because he doesn’t fit their model, even if they lose Werner, Spurs the same I think.

The shite apparently not interested, can’t see arsenal going for him.

I’m doing it again. I’ve bloody convinced myself this might happen TWAT.

Yeah it’s hard not to!

But in the summer it was China or Milan that were the options.

Barça took Dembele instead etc.

Ah fuck Milan. Depends what goes on with their owner cause it looks like the wheels have fell off for him, even though the team are doing alright.

Maybe China but we need to sell the Prem to him.

Have you just fast forwarded 2 years to make your point seem more valid? He isnt 30 and were not at the end of next season, that season and a half could result in 30+ goals and millions in terms of league placings and potential European qualification.

Higuain went for more than this pre Neymar/Mbappe silly money and was 28

Im still expecting a statement from Moshiri, via Jim White, at the end of another failed January transfer window stating we agreed everything with him then at the last minute he backed out, thats the reason we ended up with no reinforcements

(This guy aside) I know we need you bring the average age down and all that - a couple of 24 year of CBs would take our average age down by like 100years or so - but should we turn down top end players because they’re 30? Tbh I’d take Zlatan tomorrow and give him a 2 year deal.

Age is just a number, it works with both young and old and it depends what our priority is, if its sell on value then go young, if its improving the team then we should get whatever we need regardless of age.
Lets not forget 32 year old Ronaldo won his 5th Ballon d'or yesterday despite 25 year old Neymar being on the scene and the most expensive footballer ever

I haven't said I don't want to sign him you dope, and there is no point to prove, it's just a fact.

You're asking why he is only going for £60m and Neymar and Mbappe have gone for more than twice as much, and its because of his age! It's always been like that, younger players sell for a premium.

Look at what Higuain has achieved in the game, compare it to Aubamayang.... and its not hard to see why he would sell for me.

Plus Higuain had a release clause and Napoli were adamant he wouldnt leave unless Juve paid it, which left with Juve with a choice of pay it or dont get him. They sold Pogba and that funded it. As good as higuain has been and is I dont think many clubs would have been keen on paying 80m for him at that point in his career.
