He has to join the group of unluckiest footballers in the PL era.

There's a good player in there but injury has curtailed all chance. Sad.

I saw him go down and the my stream froze. Took ages to get back up again and by the time it had, he was being stretchered off so wasn't sure what had happened. Damned unlucky with these injuries and a shame for him to go down injured yet again, especially the way it happened. Will take some serious mental strength to come back from it. He was slowly playing his way back into my first 11 as well.

It was his determination to stop us conceding that cost him.

I'm not his biggest fan but a lot of our players could learn a lot about bravery from him.

Is it bad taste of myself to say it was his unwillingness to play any sort of positive pass that got him in that position?

He was brave, yes and deserves credit for that though.

Feel for Rondon as well. His whole outlook on the game will change with that incident.

I don't think its career ending, but I can't think of a player who has ever come back as good as or better than the player they were before. Unless they're really young when it happened.

Lots of injuries attributed to these football boots with blades underneath instead of studs. Keep getting caught in the turf apparently. Sure I've heard it somewhere anyway.

We have been unlucky to be hit with four major injuries in 12 months in Bolasie, Coleman, Mori and McCarthy. The first three would have played a part in our first team all year, it's easy to forget this when we moan about looking disjointed and being poorly resourced.

True. He would have played this season up till January, probably improving a midfield that looks scared of doing anything individually with the ball apart from treating it like a hot potato. Now granted Barkley sometimes treated it like his very own potato half the time but at least it would have been a different option.

I think we underestimate how much of a miss Barkley or someone of similar ability is to be able to pick the ball up deep and carry it forward releasing our attackers with a killer pass...shit I cant remember the last time I saw that.

It's a fair point and one which we'll inevitably think while we're struggling, however we can't forget the dogs abuse he got on here though for doing those very things. It's like how I sometimes think of the ex missus as she was great in bed, I remember some of the good stuff but then I realise she was a fuckin fruit loop and I binned her off for a very good reason.

Agree with this, in my opinion we are crying out for a ball carrying midfielder with a turn of pace, similar to a Barkley, pre rat or better still an Arteta type player.......and a left back...

id take a ball holding midfielder who can spot a pass... then make it... and make the forwards work for the ball in a channel which subsequently creates a chance...

ala mata...fabregas etc....

We do also need a midfielder that is comfortable with the ball and moving with it, even if it is just dropping a shoulder and committing a man. The one big difference between Kante and Gueye is he does this and starts an attack as well as breaking one up. We're crying out for someone who can do this, or isn't afraid to have a go at it.

I can't help but think Barkley would have been more influential in some games than Sigurdsson. Yes, Barkley is too prone to having a stinker and when he does he is no use but if he hits a little bit of form he offer the ability to beat a man or two which Rooney and Sigurdsson don't have.

Some games might have been different with his pace and power

I went out of my way to look up the pics.

I don't think it's sick - I just wanted to know where on the leg the break was.

For anyone else who was interested - it was quite low down the leg - near the ankle. I don't know why, but I'm expecting that might make it slightly more complicated*
