No argument - great times, we were great

Great team, great manager/coaches, great chairman, great ground, great fans

Great club

Everything about 84-85 is bittersweet.

What might’ve been, and what should’ve been.

Am I bitter about those cunts across the park?

Fucking right I am.

If we had committed that atrocity we solely would’ve been banned from Europe, sparing the rest of English clubs.

If I could reverse two results, it would be -

1985 & 1995 FA Cup Finals (sorry Joe and dogs of war!)

I was sadly born in 1987 so it was all down hill from there, I am a curse baby. Knowing what I have seen now, remembering the cup win in 95 I still can't imagine the Raw emotion of what it must have been like to see us win a league title, especially as it was at the expense of them lot.

Being able to proudly say your team is the best in the land, seeing us successful in Europe must have been amazing too.

On the flip side I am glad I had no part in seeing us lose 2 finals to them.

The semi final loss in 2012 was one of the lowest I have ever felt possibly can't imagine how awful it must be to lose a final.

What I would have given to have been around in the 80's.

!00% right with that ,the bias was against us even then .Bitter !I am not just stating facts .
I watched nearly all away games as well as all the home games that season .I went to Rotterdam but stayed in Belgium  and then on to Wembley .Some of the lads on the coach weren't sober from when we left until we got home 5 days later -those were the days -all got off the coach ,after getting bladdered in the midlands on the way home ,then into our cars parked in Lower Lane police station!!!

The worst thing about the first final was that most of the fans sang "merseyside" when the shite were winning ,I couldn't do it .They never would .

I was lucky enough and honoured to live those heady days... taking over Rotterdam, 100 a side footy in the square with Dutch bizzies getting involved. The game itself and the sheer buzz of knowing you were the best team in the land. Sadly gone shit again but at least I have my memories to comfort me.

Sounds boss.

My best memory is when Reina mistook Andy Johnson’s baldy head for the fuckin ball in our one win in a billion years against those horrible bastards.

The worst experience is losing a semi final. At a final you've had the excitement, the build up, the publicity and been part of the occasion.
No one remembers losing semi finalists and you feel as if it was all within touching distance when it's just snatched away.
My worst moment was stood on the Holte End losing to a last minute goal off a corner off Tommy Booth''s knee v Man City in a different century!
I have never felt so empty before or since. Admittedly the FA Cup was more of a trophy then.

I was a young lad back then, went to my first game that season in the gwladys and it scared the shit out of me, sat on one of the bars with my arl fella behind me.

Arl fella and uncles went to every game that year, home and away, they always talk about it, they got booted out at Fotuna Sittard for smuggling ale into the ground. Went to the FA cup final without any tickets and still got in, just gave the fella on the turnstile a tenner. The Bayern Munich game still gives me goosebumps. Would love to be my age now back then

Losing to Villa was hard for this young boy. Brian Little crushed my pounding heart. I can still see the passion on Mike Lyons face when he pulled us back into the game... if we had more with his commitment it would be good. I agree semi's are no man's land wereas in a final you were there til the end.

The West Ham FA Cup semi final replay did me in - Latch equalising, euphoric..................... ....

Thought we were on our way in the first game when Kiddo put us in front........................ ......

Oh that brings it back Macca.Used the same method as your arl fella and uncles to get in to the milk cup final in 84,the fa cup final 84 and 85(had a ticket in 86) semi finals 85 and 86 though got caught by a copper in the latter, had all my details taken then thrown out with only 5 mins to the start away, and still got in up the witton end to see the kick off.As if to emphasise the point the report was making, whenever iv'e told the story of me getting caught at villa park trying to get in without a ticket to younger lads, they all ask why didn't you just watch it in a pub? They have no idea that these games were not shown live on the box.

Been watching the DVD of the semi-final against Bayern and the Andy Johnson derby a lot, after games to wash away the disappointment with some of our performances this season.

There were so many good goals scored in that season but the goal from Sharp at Anfield and the bloke in the beige anarak, running onto the pitch, always sticks in the memory and brings a smile to my face.

I bet it was. When I had to finish playing for bedwas I ran the line for them for years and the abuse you got off them in that valley was unreal, and the further up you went the worse it got.

Remember going up to some hellhole that I can't  pronounce a few years back and our local football team had been up there a few weeks before. There'd been murder up there and when we came up all the locals turned up and pelted us with beer cans and bottles as we warmed up. The tighthead got sent off for adding razor blades to his boots for the rucks.

You still involved with Bedwas? Do you know John Welch and Stefan Sankala?

I don't bother anymore  Brownie, havn't for a long time.It wasn't the same for me when the money took over.I packed it in probably about 2003,the craic just went for me.The club was a big part of my life  for a long time,i have some fantastic memories from playing and running the line.I think jon welch was just starting with them when I knocked it on the head, would that be about right?.My nephew played for years over there you might know him as he was a member of the front row union matthew pettit.Even after all this time I still miss it a bit and I allways look out for their results.

Yeah that would be about right for Welchie. He works with me in school. Recognise the name of your nephew but I never played against Bedwas. Nice club though

Cause of death: Everton FC?

My fifteen year old son just becomes bewildered when I get going about me seeing us win stuff...
was only off on tangent which involved the Bayern game the other night.  He toddled off to bed muttering something about Funes Mori's hair.  :(

To have experienced our "heyday" as a youngster who hadn't long set foot in Goodison now feels like a great weird dream.  Still getting over that smug-as-fuck feeling I had last time we won the league I think.   :'(

Still remember the 5-0 Man U game, the Bayern game, Sheedy's twice taken free kick in the FA Cup against Ipswich, Gray's headers against Sunderland, and clinching the league against QPR like it was yesterday.  Although there was 50,000+ blues in for the QPR game (the same as Bayern), thinking about that night of Bayern Munich still sends shivers down my spine.

Can still remember before the game, as an impressionable 9 year old, being in the Black Horse with a bottle of coke and a bag of crisps, in awe of all the ex-players in there, Mark Higgins, Mick Lyons, and Fat Latch.  Never heard noise like that night, before or since (with possibly Rooney's 1st against Arsenal the only thing near to coming close)

Our club died when Rooney was sold and then the Kings Dock collapsed.  How that fat lying cunt is still in a position of power beggars belief.  Packed my season ticket in a couple of years later, 2009 season.
