Would like to see Deulofeu get a start ahead of Naismith but I can't see it happening..My Deulofeu dislike aside, it'd be suicide playing him and Mirallas whilst Ben Arfa is on one of the wings.

You just hate anyone who's competition for Naismith :)
My Deulofeu dislike aside, it'd be suicide playing him and Mirallas whilst Ben Arfa is on one of the wings.
Why? I hate teams that set up with one hard working winger and one with flair. England do it with James Milner and makes me maddddd.... We have two great full backs and two defensive midfielders they can deal with him
Naismith always offers a goal threat as well
The blokes falls over, passing is awful he can't beat a man. And gives away far to many fouls. The barca lad is in a different league to him. His descion making can be improved but his only 19 and offers a much bigger threat than Naismith.
Of course he miles better than Naismith, no denying that, but surely you can see all the positives Naismith offers as well?
I can, I just long to see Deulofeu, Barkley and Mirallas playing behind Lukaku...
Lol I honestly can't no mate! I watch him and when he gets the balls played to his feet in a tight spot I know it's going back too the opposition. And he moans just as much as jelavic now so I think I just hate him.
Have you missed the goals he's scored for us, and how he's always on the end of stuff. Not to mention the amount of times he wins the ball back for us and starts attacks.
i would go
howard
coleman jags distin baines
Gibson barry
deulofeu barkley mirallas
lukaku
3-1 everton
These are just gonna sit back all game hoping to nick a goal. We're shite against teams that do that.
Everton have got a steal with Romelu Lukaku on loan for a season.
I didn't think he would stay at Chelsea because he blows hot and cold - he is unbelievably brilliant or very poor - and that isn't good enough for Chelsea, but he will be great for Everton.
He is a part of an Everton squad that is stronger than last year; they have lost one very good player in Maroune Fellaini, but got three very good players in Lukaku, Gareth Barry and James McCarthy in return.
I don't think Fellaini fitted Everton's new style anyway. Roberto Martinez wants to get the ball down and play it, but Fellaini is good for when you want to get the ball forward quickly.
I know Newcastle lost at home to Hull last week but I'd like to think that they are not in trouble because they went to Aston Villa not so long ago and won quite easily.
Still, the Hull result was a shocker because if they had won they would have had four wins in a row including the League Cup, everything would have been rosy in the garden and they could have been on an Arsenal-like roll.
But now they are going to Everton and thinking: 'I hope we don't get beat because that will be two on the trot in the league and then we will be reeling again' - and I do think this will be a difficult game for them.
Everton are playing well - they were great against Chelsea and then to go to West Ham and win after going behind speaks volumes - and I think they will win again
2-0
I thought Everton boss Roberto Martinez pulled off a masterstroke at half-time at West Ham last weekend, putting on Romelu Lukaku and James McCarthy and really pushing for the win.
That came off the back of their win over Chelsea, and they have now had two outstanding results in the league. But I just don't understand why Martinez changed the team so dramatically for their Capital One Cup defeat by Fulham.
Baines or Cole for England?
"I would go for Leighton Baines at left-back for England at the moment because he has been the most consistent of the two and, with his free-kicks, he offers a bit more.
"Ashley Cole has been as good, if not better, than any other England player over the past 10 years but this is Baines's time. Cole would walk into most international teams but Baines offers more."
If you were an Everton fan, you might have looked at that competition and thought they could go a long way. I understand why they might change a couple of players, but that game was on Tuesday and they do not play Newcastle until Monday.
I know they played well in the first half at Craven Cottage but they got beat. If I were an Everton fan, I'd be miffed.
Why not play a strong team and build on the good results they have already had. Bradford and Swansea reached the final last season - why would you not want to get through to the next round?
If they had kept the core of the same team for the Fulham game then they would be saying to their fringe players "hey, these boys are playing well and winning. If and when you get a chance, this is what you have to do".
Newcastle had a bit of a setback against Hull in their last league game after beating Fulham and Aston Villa and I think that defeat by the Tigers showed they are not quite there.
Goodison Park is great at night and there will be a really good atmosphere for this game. The crowd will be up for it and I think Everton will continue their great start to the league season.
Under their former boss David Moyes they always had a good side but, with the addition of Lukaku and Gareth Barry, there now seems to be a bit of depth to their side.
Lawro's prediction: 2-1
Got a funny feeling Lukaku wont start
Totally agree with Merson on Fellaini and our style.
Howard
Coleman Jags Distin Baines
Barry Gibson
Miralles Barkley Oviedo
Lukaku
Oh, Pardew is a cunt.Disagree.
Got a funny feeling Lukaku wont start
What a great set of results today for Everton.
If the Shite fail to win tomorrow and we win on Monday what a weekend that would be.
Martinez on MOTD tonight apparently.
"So Roberto, where did it go wrong for David Moyes today?"
Nah I agree pardew is indeed a cunt.
Lets wait after the game and call him a cunt... He will dive and win a penalty just like Kevin The Cunt Nolan
Love your signature by the way!! hahahaha
Agree totally with Silas and Jimmywhack, newcastle are a cunt club with cunt fans and cunt managerThese are in fact the only club I can't stand even more than Liverpool. Takes some doing that too.
Would love us to beat the feckers convincingly. No time for club, fans, manager,or owner. They are the Kevin Nolan of football clubsYeah bang on there can see it being same as last season 2-2.
These are in fact the only club I can't stand even more than Liverpool. Takes some doing that too.
the big club whos deluded inbred fans to a man say they havent missed a home game for years, and are looked upon as loyal etc, the how come the home game before keegan arrived ,there where 12000 in the ground ,one horse town
I think at some point it's inevitable we'll have a big letdown performance in a game most of us are expecting to win (and people will no doubt slaughter RM on here), just with the new manager, new players and evolution in style.
Hope it's not tonight, if that does happen. They defo have players that can hurt people if they fire.
Did you not see the Fulham result?
Did you not see the Fulham result?
Or WBA and Cardiff!
Sarcasm?
I don't think Newcastle are really capable of beating us comfortably at home.
Yeah, it's inevitable it'll happen eventually but I think it'll be to someone like Swansea.
As for tonight, I could see us losing by a goal margin where they hit us on the break or something but we should be alright.
What I'd love (to state the obvious I suppose), is for us to get ahead in the first 20 mins tonight, open the game up so they can't just park the bus, and then put on a bit of an exhibition and win 4-0. I do genuinely think that could happen, but I think it's very much reliant on us taking the lead earlyish.Ha
HaIn that case...like for like.
You just beat me to it!
This is the type of games we would fuck up in previous seasons. We'll learn a lot about this team tonight, if we fail to win I can see a season of inconsistency and failed promise, a win and we could push for Europe again this season.
Think we may be seeing Deulofeu starting tonight. Just got a feeling.
I'd be surprised. I think the pecking order for this game will be Naismith-Oviedo-Deulofeu. First half against Fulham might have changed things of course.I'd be surprised if Naismith doesn't start - if there's a time for Barca kid to start though - it would be at home in an evening game that we are expected to win.
(https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BVbf_SUCQAARQtL.jpg)thats one attack minded bench!
Osmans having a stinker so far, get Deulofeu on Roberto!
Could be 4-3-2-1 with Mirallas and Barkley playing behind Lukaku allowing the full backs to provide width. Certainly going to be interesting! That was my initial thought too. Expecting to see Baines and Coleman forward quite a bit
I cannot believe that starting 11surely there is only one that is a surprise to you
thats one attack minded bench!
Arouna KoneJelavic?
Gerard Deulofeu
Steven Naismith
......
I can only count 3 attack minded players
Jelavic?
Best fans in the country have travelled well.
I think that's his point!I did wonder that.
I don't really buy that one. Much as a hate them, this is a cunt of a fixture for away fans at 8pm on a Monday night. It was similar when ours away to them was changed from 3pm New Years Day to 8pm on the 2nd. We took a decent crowd, but it's a fixture that typically of Sky doesn't consider the travelling fans.
Great linkup from Barkley and Lukaku. Unlucky offsides there.started brightly
Shit forgot my prediction 2-1 Everton Lukaku
Brilliant play by Lukaku that. Really showing his class tonight. Good finish by Ross too. 6 more I want now against these scumbags.
NBC commentators just told us that Newcastle's goalkeeping is poor, their defense is disorganized, their midfield can't pass and their forwards don't make runs.
So they're shit.

Did Miralles give the signal to come off then as he was walking off ? Hope he hasn't taken a knock he like Everton has been brilliant this half. If I was Collocinni I wouldn't come out the second half either.
Me either, what was Pardew thinking?
This sort of performance even with Baines having a stinker!worst Everton player on pitch.... Never thiught would say that
It is almost comical how much better than Jelavic Lukaku is.well based on transfer fees he is at least meant to be 3 times better

Just called the police to report steve81 missing. I do hope he's ok? :angel:in a bar with Everton.Chris watching the speedway on ss2
Ben arfa off? Bizarre that
Ben arfa off? Bizarre that
so just a horror show from Newcastle, not how good we have played, lukaku is a preditor, actually looks like one in a nice way too :)
post, got lucky there.
Umm... this game could easily be 1-1.
No foot off the gas Blues!
What game are you watching?
FFS
lolol
Standard.
We're not very good at handling this kind of situation. It will be good experience for us, providing we come through it.
Still knocking one out?Maybe the Cabaye goal was a mood killer....
Maybe the Cabaye goal was a mood killer....
Subs subs subs ?
Coleman's superb isn't he?
Baines.............
Watching this on some obscure stream, don't know what the lingo is but we have a player called, "LIT ON BRAINS"
Damn. And I had 3-1 (Lukaku) in the prediction league.
Damn. And I had 3-1 (Lukaku) in the prediction league.
Fuck the prediction league, let's win the fucking game first!
So summing up: the negative is that we can still only play well for 45 minutes, the positive is that we've got the firepower to make it count. And that's the long and short of it.The problem seems to be countering tactical changes by the opposition. Fulham game was the same. It's a bit worrying.
seamus for me motmyeah me too.... Just.
need to work on second half tactics and defensive playsecond half tactics won us the game last week.
Deaulofeu amazing going forward but possibly the reason we were so weak at the back?
Lukaku is a beast but he gave it away far too much 2nd half.looked tired
Lukaku is a beast but he gave it away far too much 2nd half.
Deaulofeu amazing going forward but possibly the reason we were so weak at the back?Barkley is given a free role, sure deaulofeu was told the same, RM tried to wrap it up with a 4th. Well you can't knock his positivity.
cant we ever go on and stuff a team so pissed off we let them back in but hey ho we won i suppose
Oh fuck off you boring, predictable tit. Where were you for 50 minutes when we were cruising?making a point and a valid one at that oh i forgot unless you agree no one is allowed

That was a bit close
When we can play for 90 minutes we'll be awesome

making a point and a valid one at that
No, we were already weak when he came on.
I don't see it as a big deal. Their first goal was a screamer, and that spurred them on
Watching Crossroads.watching match im havent got a computer screen in front of me constantly ive only commented at the end as ive said though im not allowed unless i say how wonderful everton were playing
Oh fuck off you boring, predictable tit. Where were you for 50 minutes when we were cruising?
Newcastle undoubtibly better in the second half, would say the two goals where there only real chances though and we had LOADS of good chances in the second half, thought mccarthy was unreal today
Are you fuck. You're being your usual negative self. Nowhere to be seen when we're winning then as soon as it gets squeaky bum time you arrive. You're pathetic.whatever mate move on with the rest of the sheep

Newcastle undoubtibly better in the second half, would say the two goals where there only real chances though and we had LOADS of good chances in the second half, thought mccarthy was unreal todayYeah we were hardly under the cosh, that first goal was just a brilliant strike and that's going to shift your mind set with 40 minutes left. come on moyes would have brough on a third CB at that point and sat on the 18 hard line and we still would have won 3-2 and shitting ourselves. Much better attitude, going for the 4th..better team we could have wrapped it up and well... It was entertaining which is what Everton is all about isn't it? If you know your history...
whatever mate move on with the rest of the sheep
They hit the post as well when Gouffran should have scored.
But despite Newcastle improving significantly in the second half I thought for 20-25 minutes or so we managed to get some control again of the game and it was extremely encouraging to see us create the chances we did, we could have scored another two goals with a tiny bit more luck at that end.
No, the fact that they got Williamson and Coloccini organised to counter Lukaku is what spurred them on. They were well in the ascendancy by the time Cabaye scored and that was because from the first kick in the second half they've got Lukaku covered. That and Cabaye gave their midfield the confidence to attack the ball more quickly and move it around better and that led to the goal.
And not the other way around.
whatever mate move on with the rest of the sheep
Point taken, but it's as much psychological as tactical. They must've been slaughtered by Pardew at half time, and were bound to come out firing. We don't have the luxury of dominating games like that very often, and that nervousness filtered into some of our tentative play. If we'd seen them off for another 10-15 mins, the game would've been done and dusted.
It's nothing to do with following the "sheep". Just because you see everyone as sheep doesn't mean everyone follows each other, it means that most recognise that you're a negative person. We're up to 4th in the league, still the only team undefeated team in the league yet you suddenly start spouting your usual shite when the game starts getting tight, having said fuck all when were playing some great football. Go figure why the "sheep" think you're boring.nothing wrong with it 4th in the league but how many tough games have we played and we are only 6 games in
A good win I think we had opportunities to have buried Newcastle in second half so it shouldn't have been a bum sqeaker. Dowd was awful how he let Tioti stay on after he fouls he comitted after being booked is beyond me. Everton 7/8 fouls 3 yellows, Newcastle 17 fouls 1 yellow???
Lots of positives I thought, Lukaku, Barkley, I thought McCarthy was really good. Osman and Howard worry me, Osman lost and gave the ball away to easily in second half and Mirallas faded again. Howard was shocking useless effort for second goal and his kicks awful.
We wrested control back for short periods but nowhere near enough to break them.

Osman was knackered in the second half but his first half was his best so far in the season. And Howard didn't put a foot wrong tonight.was gonna say the same
Howard was shocking useless effort for second goal and his kicks awful.Thought his kick for the assist was fine tbh
Yeah, probably.
You know what the funny thing is though and something the players should be made aware of? That for all our great approach play and possession, two of our goals were actually scored from a Howard punt, the third one from Newcastle losing possession in their half. So just because we don't control the middle as much as we'd like to, we should have the confidence that we can still score.
Jags and Howard need to learn that sometimes just getting rid isn't a bad thing, but otherwise a good performance tiredness aside

As Bluedylan says so many positives our last 2 live sky games have both been 5 goal thrillers, im sure every sky viewer is missing liverpools 1-0's.agree about mccarthy he was our best midfielder
Fair mention of McCarthy to had a fine game, Coleman also his best game of the season.
Deulofeu looked amazing when he come on, so unlucky not to score, that's all we have to do with him, bring him on the last 15-20 mins against tiring defences.
Barkley and Lukaku have the makings of a brilliant partnership, Ross is becoming a tremendous no 10. Finally Miralles great first half. All credit to Newcastle for making a game of it second half, but even then we could have scored another 3 or 4 more goals.
Jags and Howard need to learn that sometimes just getting rid isn't a bad thing, but otherwise a good performance tiredness aside
Lukaku looked knackered after an hour and I was surprised he didn't come off, Osman tired after about 70 minutes too so the subs were a bit surprising to me
Lukaku probably wanted a hat trick though and Osman had played very well, so maybe it would have been harsh to take them off?
they were there for a smashing tonight but second half they got control of the midfield again and looked threatening and it was all a bit tense
Jags and Howard need to learn that sometimes just getting rid isn't a bad thing, but otherwise a good performance tiredness aside
I worked out today that the trouble with Deulofeu is that he makes his runs at too shallow an angle. And curiously it's the same whether he starts from the left or the right. Martinez needs to reposition or realign him slightly so that he doesn't end up having to shoot from virtually the byline.
The current football being played is mystifying. 3-0 at halftime, should be game-over, but no, like many other prem' games, a second half has you scratching your head. No-one had a bad for us and it's a shame McCarthy didn't have the awareness to close Cabaye down quicker - McCarthy's one mistake on an otherwise great performance.
Also needs to actually shoot. Very guilty of trying to run the ball into the net as good as he is.
Abysmal second half
Abysmal second halfWouldn't say it was abysmal but it was poor in comparison to the first half
Abysmal second half
As Roberto himself admitted, that happens quite often in football. Players take their foot off the gas just a tiny bit, not consciously but they still do, the opposition come out with a still smoking rocket up their arse and with nothing to lose, add that all up and you'll see lots of games where one team dominates the first half completely and then the second half changes everything. It wasn't that long ago we did it against West Ham.
The important difference is that we finally turned our first half domination into a lead that we could hold on to.
As Bluedylan says so many positives our last 2 live sky games have both been 5 goal thrillers, im sure every sky viewer is missing liverpools 1-0's.

Thought Coleman was outstanding today. Both the fullbacks were but Coleman was excellent forward and back. Osman was the best I have seen him for a while.agree, had ben arfa in his pocket all game long, and other teams have struggled to deal with him
Is Barry unavailable against City? It's not always standard that loanees can't play against their parent club.I think the Premier league made it a mandatory rule not so long ago.
Commentator struggled with Deulofeu didn't he?

Aye, they have. No recalls and no playing against your parent team.Take it it'll be a straight swop then? Gibson for Barry?
Abysmal second half
Unfortunately I only saw the 2nd half but still witnessed the quality Everton have.
That is top four material :)
Can everyone unite and say Martinez is the man?
Can everyone unite and say Martinez is the man?
Second half I saw dribs and drabs. Each time I saw Lukaku on the ball, I thought it was Fellaini at first, and then I saw him move and realised it obviously wasn't. He looks bloody good. Skillful, powerful, and doesn't give up. Wish we could buy him.
:eh: Our last Sky game was the 1-0 over Chelsea, the West Ham game wasn't live (I'm assuming that's the game you're on about)
Very impressive first half I thought, should have really been 4 or 5. Second half Cabaye made a difference for them but I still felt we could have had another 2-3 from the chances we had. Still 1 defeat in 8 games, not a bad start to the Martinez era
Was listening to Kilbane on the Monday night club and he was saying he was talking to a few faces behind the scenes that he knows and they absolutely love Martinez. He acknowledged that they're bound to say that about a new manager obviously, out of politeness, but he said it was a genuine feeling from all of the staff. He said that RM takes the time to talk to all the staff, treats them with respect and values their contributions etc.
Obviously that's not going to win games or points on the surface - so you might say that's all very well. But it's an indication of what a terrific man manager he is and how he understands the culture of our club and the importance of our people. If you can get colleagues behind you, like he seems to have, it makes the transition so much easier and it makes such a difference to the workplace, and most importantly to the players improvement and development. It's also important for us to have a strong connection between the manager and fans, and to have a strong Everton community, given that we're not rich. It's an important tool in trying to combat bigger clubs, and he really seems to understand that.
I'm sure there might be some difficult days from time to time in the future, but I'm delighted with him as a representative of our club.
