Unsworth Leaves Baines and Rooney at home
Our sources at NSNO towers have informed us that David Unsworth has left first team players including Wayne Rooney and Leighton Baines at home ahead of the trip to Lyon.

It costs a lot to take excess baggage on Ryanair these days.
-
I'm not sure it's ever a good idea, (Especially in our circumstances.) to leave any of the first team squad at home unless injured.
-
Sure some of us can understand the Rooney one ....but Baines although not firing on all cylinders of late is our only real left back ...Martina is horrible .
-
Did we bring any left backs from the u23s?
-
Baines finally playing the correct position for him. Left back at home

I hate to say it, but you're right

But i hope they have got or thought of cover

Baines has to rest. Just has to. Even if that means Davies is your reserve LB for this match, it's essentially an exhibition.
I am glad to see us play without Rooney, unsurprisingly. Hope Sandro is in, and makes something of the opportunity.

Well when you get to a certain age, even on £200,000 (or 100,000 or 60,000) per week it gets a bit hard. On the other hand Wayne must somehow fit in his community service.
-
Are you hoping Lyon kidnap Sandro? Mind you Big Sam might find a use for him, somewhere.
-
Callum Connolly is hardly even playing at Ipswich. I don't know what we were thinking sending a young defender off to work with Mick McCarthy. It would be nice if he was still at the club, precisely for situations like this.
-
We can win this game. ...The possible line up?
Sigs can rise to the occasion. Lookman and Calvert-Lewin linking with pace up front. Davies, Beni and Gaye speeding up a balanced midfield. Feeney injecting pace with Kenny in the back line. Pickford in goal. (With Williams & Cuco, lets hope they have a good one!)
We can no longer afford to slow the pace down to suit ageing individuals.
-
We can bring Connolly back, he has a release clause with his loan deal
-
Is Feeny fast? Isn't he likened to Dave watson... He wasn't quick
No idea who will play lb if baines isnt travelling.
All the attacking players are a much of muchness tbh, so it doesn't really matter who plays where as long as they are in their position.
The cms is the only real issue for me
Davies, gueye, schneiderlin all out of form
Sigurdsson has never got into form
Baningime looks a player but it's a lot to ask a young lad
Besic has disappeared again, I've probably missed someone off ah well
-
Press conferance within the hour ssn
-
No jags either
-
Could this possibly signify we are giving up on the Europa league to concentrate on our league survival?
Just a thought. Risky from a Rhino point of view, could be 3 out of 3 defeats.
-
A pretty much totally untried defence agaisnt a side that probably should have beat us five ish last time out
Kinda glad I'm missing this one
-
Good job we signed a left back in the summer init lads
Oh wait
-
Good job we didn't loan out all our other left backs init lads
Oh wait
-
Good job we registered Luke Garbutt in the squad init lads
Oh wait.
What a fucking farce.
-
Colleen is going to go mental if he gets caught drink driving.....oh wait, it's not international weekend

Haha...good one. No Halloween hangover for you like.

We shouldn't send any youngsters out on loan so they can play in a shit U23 league all season but with the possibility of maybe starting a grand total of 1 or 2 starts in dead rubbers for the 1st team.

The Dowell and Williams loans are spot on. Those two players are getting regular games at Forest and Barnsley and will be much better for it. That's exactly what you want from a loan.
Connolly and Walsh have barely played at all at their respective clubs. So they aren't getting the games needed to improve and McCarthy/whoever the fuck replaced Redknapp is overseeing their development. They would 100% be better off here, even if neither player were to make a single first team appearance this season.
Loans aren't good in and of themselves. Some thought needs to be given as to whether or not the players are actually going to play where we send them. And even then, I'm dubious about the value of having them work with a dinosaur like Mick McCarthy.

Smells like Benfica 09......

We’re going to take a spanking here lads, Baton down the hatches, all focus is now on the prem and I can’t say that I disagree, Rhino obviously has a plan in place with leaving senior players at home, some forward thinking from our manager for a change.
-
And when Watford beat us on Sunday, Unsworth will look like the out of his depth, tactically clueless manager he has already shown in his first 2 games.
Still can’t believe Kenwright decided to put David Unsworth in charge of the first team :o
