About time for a new one of these for the year ahead? Go on then. As usual, mark up anything that's even a tiny bit potentially spoilerific with tags.

I'll start us off with something that looks like it could be an early 2015 must watch, judging by the trailers, the premise, the people involved and the general buzz online.

Comparisons with Twin Peaks, Fargo and The Killing have been made early doors, starts on Sky Atlantic 29th Jan, I give you 'Fortitude' (I love shit that's set in the Tundra):

The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive. Everybody's out on the run tonight but there's no place left to hide. Together, Wendy, we can live with the sadness, I'll love you with all the madness in my soul.

Pleased to see Silent Witness back, Broadchurch too was a surprise , wasn't expecting it to follow on.

Also see Happy Valley is making a return too.

A new series on ITV this coming year which I hope will be good is Jekyll & Hyde not sure when its programmed to air though.

Marvel's Agent Carter got off to a good start with a double episode, pity then its not scheduled for a UK broadcast as far as I'm aware. The show is being used as a breather in between season 2 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D running for 6 more weeks with a month break before AOS resumes

Better Call Saul starts in early Feb. Looks like there's a few series' with spin offs from movies too. Looks a good year.

Twelve monkeys looks good to me. The film was excellent and Bruce Willis actually proved he had the ability to act. I think it's an excellent idea to bring a Sci-Fi film of that quality to the small screen. I also had a thing for Madeline Stowe at the time too :P

Ascension starts on Sky Atlantic next week, mini series of 6eps. The first of new era SyFy shows. Decent start but they need to go a bit harder to win back the fans they lost during their b movie stint.

For some reason I thought Simon Pegg was in this. I will give it a go now I know he isn't. I was battling with myself trying to decide if my love for tucci could overcome my disdain for Pegg.

Started season 2 of The Shield the other night. Got a major soft spot for it that I never thought I'd have.

The shield is an Absolutely brilliant show that gets better the further you get into it.
